Did anyone else notice that Asexual awareness week in October got people to list characters from TV or games that they thought might fit? On Tumblr several people nominated Cullen as being Demisexual, which I found interesting.

 

It wouldn't surprise me if he were to be demi-sexual. I could imagine him having many games of chess or sparring sessions as a form of bonding with someone until he reached the height of emotional investment that he would need in order to become sexually attracted to someone. I think there are more demi-sexual's out in the world than we think, so I for one wouldn't be surprised if anyone (pixel or real) said that that was their sexual orientation.

Yup, I think I am one myself, or at least if past experience is anything to judge by 

 

Let me tell you, gender and sexuality is so damn complicated (I guess I should say so beautifully complicated), and I hate the way we tend to live our lives in binaries... male or female, gay or straight, etc. It is not that simple!!! Too many people get swept to the side because they don't fit either one, and as a result you grow up confused and lost and partially hating yourself.

I am in such a good mood, I thought I would share a little poem I wrote.

 

For context, it is in my DAO fan fic that I have been playing with for while.  Ser Gilmore killed Athras's wife, Danyla (the werewolf).  On return to the Dalish camp, he goes alone to find and confess his deed to Athras.  Later, the Warden finds them both drunk, sitting around a fire outside Athras's tent.  The man an elf sing songs together to honor his wife and her soften her journey into the nightlands  Here is what Roland sings.

 

There once was a maiden

She lived in the meadow

She sang like the morning

And chased away shadows

 

Her eyes held the stars

Her heart held the sun

Her voice stole my heart

And I was undone

 

I walk through the starlight

Through whispers of midnight

Through shadows of moonlight

But she is not there

 

I hear her voice calling

Her song like the morning

And I keep returning

But she is not there

 

   Hope you all like it!

I can definitely understand being too embarrassed to post them. I was for years and when I finally started putting my stuff on A03 I would cringe every time I saw I had a comment on one, lol. But now that you have let out the little tid-bit about the throne out you have to post it.

See, I want to branch out in this direction but I am very afraid that I will also get the intimate bits wrong. Therefore, I read a lot of M/M! But until I feel that I have the confidence to do it I think I will just stick with F/M and the occasional F/F.

Writing M/M is not hard... I do (well did; I am trying to retire lol) research on like yaoi fangirl tropes and stuff. There are things girls think happen that don't really happen... I did not want to be one of those folks who wrote ridiculous things happening in bed that would only induce eye-rolling lol 

 

Thus far I've yet to have the courage to ask a male friend, "Does it really feel like this when... *XXXXX*"  Some day.

Also I've kind of... "graduated" from porny fics... not like I'm "too good" for them *snort* But it's like I've written "that scene" so often I'm kind of tired of writing that. And I want to focus more on story and character. Not that explicit fics can't have great story and character. It's just nice to not have to think and fret about that scene anymore.

 

And yes my last Cullen fic had an explicit scene but I do not think it was that bad, really.
