I have a hard time seeing how "generally equal" equates to everyone telling you that women are weird for being warriors and Grey Wardens. But... I guess those kinds of comments still seem "generally equal" to some people.

Ok, there's The recap:
Preview in England, tried The game for 4 hours.
Areas are big, very detailed and full of things to do. The devs said The hinterlands has more or less 20 hours of content.
They tested The starting of The hinterlands area, with a little story part.
The graphics are really good. There Were some bugs, but nothing very worthwile. Cameron said that it was hard to work on The engine, but necessary for creating this big opens world game.
He explained a bit The new healing system (nothing new).
Combat as Fast as in DA2 but more complex and tactical. Enemies are more intelligent then in The Past. Tactical camera not zoomable as in DAO, but really useful on higher difficulties (he played on Hard). The fights are more difficult Then in The Past but rewarding.
Abilities are very different from each other.
Lots of returning characters.
He mentioned The keep as The way to import saves.

OK, maybe not enough coffee, but can someone explain the Swedish reference in this comic from Champions and Heroes? I thought Allegra Clark was, I dunno, italian or something. Is she Swedish??
It's because of her clothing, blue and yellow, the colors of swedish flag.

Though I didn't recall that there Were Many people saying this in DAO. Most of them were douchebags, and there Were characters in leading position who didn't care about your gender (Loghain, Duncan, The dwarves, Gregoir, Possibly Cailan).
It's not a codex... it's the first opening chargen screen. If you're told there are no downsides to picking a female character, then the norm should be that there are no downsides. The end.

Haha yeah usually but I think Switzerland is considered to have been neutral whereas Sweden wasn´t actually since they allowed the Germans to pass through etc. That´s what they teach us here in Sweden at least

That doesn't say that there aren't downsides though. It said both genders are evenly represented in 'most' organizations, and that they're generally equally treated. I personally never interpreted as to not having sexism in Thedas. That very texts made me think that there'll be sexism sometimes, and that women might not be rapresented in every organizations at The same level of men (The opposite in this point is true as well. Women are The only ones who could lead The white Chantry, or that can be a Rivaini seer).It's not a codex... it's the first opening chargen screen. It took me years to figure out. I always thought that I was just an old fashioned romantic...but some comments that I made to my nephew about his appalling taste in men (my comments were basically why don't you get to know them first), resulted in us having an interesting chat. We both were coming from very different positions, and we both had trouble understanding each other, we fought our way through that until the 'aha' lightbulb went on...I personally find the thought of casual sex repulsive, and find many straight forward flirts/ dirty talk, crude and vulgar, I can appreciate someone being pretty or handsome, but until I get to know them....there is no physical attraction.
He even pointed out that my writing (he beta reads for me) always involves people who are Demi-sexual...

While I think it should've been clearer, I personally don't see how that text states there isn't sexism in Thedas.
I'm not going to quibble about how your interpretation was different from my own when I first played... since getting to choose a woman is a pretty special thing with these games for some women. Sure, in hindsight one can textually analyze the qualifiers in there. In terms of pure gameplay, the point of telling you this in chargen, the first thing you learn about Thedas, is that choose a woman or a man, doesn't matter cuz it's our new fantasy world. In practice, it's our same world, just different proper nouns. For me the emphasis was on 'equals' not on 'generally,' hence my disappointment.
Regardless, now we know, and given everything we've seen since... it makes more sense. So, yay?
