With Jory telling us he didn't think women were permitted to join the grey wardens and then Murdock saying he didn't think they made women grey wardens not to mention you can't talk to Berwick with out the chance on him making a sexist comment it was kind of obvious Thedas was still a pretty sexist place and that's only mentioning a few. But tbh I don't mind it, we're always given the chance to put them in their place and I really wouldn't expect a setting loosely based on medeival times to be anything but sexist.
I am all for the hero having an 'In your face' victory moment. That's why I like playing elves and mages so much...you want to supress my kind well now what do you think when I saved your butt
Jory comments on elves and dwarves as well, so obviously the man had a lot of issues.
So anyhoo, anyone not on Tumblr, DG commented again on the sexism in Thedas topic.

I have a hard time seeing how "generally equal" equates to everyone telling you that women are weird for being warriors and Grey Wardens. But... I guess those kinds of comments still seem "generally equal" to some people.
I'm taking it to mean that there are individuals who are biased against people for various reasons, including gender? With the exception of Murdock, all of them were fairly unpleasant individuals. I really don't think Howe or Jory are typical (if the average Fereldan knight is as skittish of real danger as Jory, Fereldan is doomed). While I found it jarring to run into in game, DG's explanation actually clarifies a lot. People like Alistair, Teagan, and Eamon are just as quick to accept a woman or elf or mage as the Warden leader; I think they're saying that generally equal doesn't exclude individuals with biases of all sorts and gender is just one we can encounter. As long as it doesn't actually make a difference in game in what we can do or who will work with us...
Does Santa Cullen mean I get to unwrap him for christmas?
Oh, yes, that's exactly what I want him to mean!!!!! ![]()

Fair enough. I didn't analyzed much that phrase though. The moment I read if I thought it implied What I said before.I'm not going to quibble about how your interpretation was different from my own when I first played... since getting to choose a woman is a pretty special thing with these games for some women. Sure, in hindsight one can textually analyze the qualifiers in there. In terms of pure gameplay, the point of telling you this in chargen, the first thing you learn about Thedas, is that choose a woman or a man, doesn't matter cuz it's our new fantasy world. In practice, it's our same world, just different proper nouns. For me the emphasis was on 'equals' not on 'generally,' hence my disappointment.
Regardless, now we know, and given everything we've seen since... it makes more sense. So, yay?
Huh. When I first played the game and saw the "generally equal" bit, all I figured it meant was that my stats wouldn't take a hit simply because I chose to play a female. >_>
So, I suppose everyone knows by now that Cullen will sing in DAI........ ![]()

Huh?
Greg Ellis tweeted a few months ago that he will sing in inquisition.

Yup, confirmed on a tweet by Greg Ellis. Soft and stirring one apparently. GOD I LOVE GREG ELLIS SINGING!! AAAAAAA!!
(... need to calm down...)
I'd rather have more gender equal Thedas. Having people getting suprised of my character being female and a hero doesn't add anything for me in the game it just takes out from it. I'd much prefer having my gender as invisible and not affecting in dialogues etc.
Huh?
........not everyone it seems.

NOW I can't stop wondering how BW really wrote his romance in DAI.
Apparently there are flirty & naughty parts... (source: one of those tweets by Greg Ellis). I don't think it will be on the first conversation though... Looking at what we know about Cullen, it is entirely possible that these flirty parts will only come out around the end.
This thread is moving fast indeed. Before I finished pasting the links, there were already replies to that question. ![]()

That just shows our desperation to get the game and actually meet our beloved commander.

I've always wondered if Cullen will remain as we know him (regarding romance) or BW changed him in Inquisition...

I'm still wondering if that soft and stirring singing is going to turn out to be him singing drunkenly in the tavern...

Too true.

Should have changed a bit compared to what he was in DA:O and DA2. Guess that he'll be much less shy than I imagine.

I still want to see that. Personally it's really OK if the singing is not part of the romance but in the friendship arc. Does tavern & drinking songs soft and heartfelt and stirring? I don't think so ![]()

I never thought Cullen would even get drunk...

Yeah, I agree. I just hope he hasn't lost his shyness completely.

That's what I thought when I read Greg Ellis' tweets. I think they are part of the romance. But either way, I'd love to hear Cullen sing!!!!

And I don't think that a drunken man sing softly and in a heartfelt way. It's still possible however, that getting drunk is the only way he would be loosened. Cullen seems pretty tight person.
Well, weirdly I can't make a worldstate where my Warden isn't a lady Amell (sacrifice herself or Dark Ritual??? Romance Leliana all the way) and my Hawke isn't a warrior... For my first PT I just want Cullen & Leliana references to my lady Amell...
