I'd rather pass on dirges, especially my own. We already had a heroic sacrifice ending in DAO anyway.
Actually, this makes me wonder: what if the Inquisitor has to make the ultimate sacrifice? The Inquisitor seems to be the only one with the power to close the rifts. And the Veil seems pretty torn in DAI. What if it requires her death to close the rifts for good? I'm not saying I want this to happen. Just like to speculate a little. 
Weird, I really like steak well cooked. Hate the blue ones. Personal choices though...
I don't like them blue either, the fat is still solid at that point 
the sweet spot for me is medium-rare: hot all the way through, so the fat has melted making it juicy, mostly pink with red in the center, browned on the outside for the tasty maillard reaction. Preferably topped with a pat of herb butter

I'm quite sure that this is one of the possible endings. It's more than probable that the Rift can be closed only from the other side of the veil...
(If I'm on "sad story but heroic" mood while playing the ending part, I might finish by doing this. And Cullen will get his second love of his life died sacrificing themselves... Both mages).

Ooooh... steaks... Medium-rare's nice, depend on parts. On sirloin it's good. On ribs, nuh uh. Ribs got to be well done for me.
If you get your meat from a local meat processor/butcher you really don't have much to worry about, it's only if the meat is mishandled and feces contaminate the meat that you have to worry. Life is too short to eat well-done steak!

Which country are you in? I know in the UK we didn't know for a while iff the PC version would come with the deluxe and pre-order bonuses. I eventually got a reply from GS to say it would come both. Hopefully i'm not really out of the loop and that has since changed.

So anyway, about that Cullen
-15 or -17 or -18 days before Cullen.
On 17 days BC (Before Cullen), a weird phenomenon is observed on many parts of the worlds. This phenomenon concerns a part of population identifying themselves as Cullenites tearing down their electronic devices (such as consoles and PCs) and keep talking incessantly about Dragon Age and Inquisitions...
There is no cure yet for this condition, physicians can only hope that their conditions will improve after the release of a mass-produced cure named Launching of DA:I.

I found the video in Hrungr's The November Gameplay Video Mega-Thread, it does contain story spoilers from the beginning so beware.
My Amell's story is quite over for me, and she got Leliana with her back then. I prefer her died as a hero, turning a new page for Cullen since now he knows he will never have her. (Guess that I'm in the mood of having sad stories

Weirdly the first time I got interested in Cullen it's in DA2, starting with "hey I know this guy!". And got crushed to see that he's not romanceable there. But then Hawke got Fenris/Anders/Isabela/Merrill so no big deal.
Oh, since I know that could be sort of problematic, I won't take my chances... not in my first PT anyway. My first self-insert PT in DAO was with a female Cousland, and that's what I'm gonna pick for my first DAI PT. No troubles with the Amells at all. Btw, I have my moments too, for sad stories. 
Weirdly enough, I got interested in Cullen the same way you did. The difference is that I was already interested in Anders, and I happened to play a female Rogue (also self-insert) who left Bethany in Kirkwall, to be safe. So, when Cullen arrested Bethany and took her to the Circle, I was very angry with him for a while. ......until I realized how much I actually liked him. Later, I would go back to DAO, and install mods and play the mage origin. My first mage origin was with a female elf (also self-insert ). Then, in my second DA2 PT, I planned to Rivalmance Anders (Friendmanced him in the first PT). But now I was crazy about Cullen, and I would spend hours snapping screenshots with him and my Hawke. At times, I would remind myself: "hey, you're romancing Anders! taker your eyes off Cullen!"

I know that this is likely. In previous games was possible to get happy ending (not death) - and now it can be in the same way, or they intentionally kill a hero (there is no other way and the period end), or LI just that this time was otherwise.
I hope for a few possible, different endings for my heroine and her LI, and one of them will be happy ending.

Well they've yet to write anything to turn traditional patriarchy on its head. And no, making women religious leaders is not turning patriarchy on its head. There are pretty much zero microaggressions towards men in Thedasian culture. There is no discrimination again men whatsoever; meanwhile, there is plenty against women. Men's fitness, prowess, intelligence, and overall excellence is never questioned within the culture, whereas women's are.
So for a story arc to appear that suddenly has people questioning a character's worthiness because he is male would be... rather unusual for these writers lol

I don't think it's rude to criticize the writing of this game, or any published writing. The only writing I never criticize is writing not-for-profit, like fanfic

Though you'd think after ME3 they'd be hesitant to go with that sort of ending (not that I disliked the ME3 ending but loads did).

Yeah, that's what I thought first..... BUT!! there could be one or more ways to have a happy ending after all. It's nice to hope anyway. I'm thinking, maybe there is a way to amplify or completely alter the power you have, so you won't die. The same thing we thought about killing the Archdemon in DAO at first. Until we learned that there was a way to kill it and not die.....though it did involve bloodmagic. 
But I'd like to hope there are more possible endings, specially based on the Inquisitor's choices.
