Oooh quite same, my self-insert PTs are usually the first one I played. For DA:O it's Queen Cousland with Alistair, and for DA2 it's Marian Hawke with Fenris (mage Hawke). When I played these two PTs I always thought "this is my headcannon" but actually when I started roleplaying, it seems that finally I can't have any other headcannon than a female mage Amell sacrificing herself (romance Leliana) and a male Warrior Hawke forced to choose a side (mages) because little sister is in the circle, romance either Fenris or Merrill.
I had finished DA:O for all mages & elves origins, with happy/sad ending each. But I can't just bring myself having other headcannon than the one I mentionned. Dunno why. It's just at first I would like to be from the best priviledge ever (Cousland), with loving family etc but finally the mage one really enthrall me. Being a person that is considered dangerous by the world, yet rise above all to be the Hero of Ferelden. Without Old God repercussion.
Finally, my favourite origins from DA:O are the "opressed" ones: City Elf, Mages & Dwarf Commoner. They started with nothing and end up being the Hero of Ferelden, above whoever hated them for what they are. It really proves Dumbledore's point about the most important thing is not "What you are" but "Who you are".
Sadly, my first self-insert, fem!Cousland, (Warrior Cousland) ended up with no choice to stop Alistair from sacrificing himself to kill the archdemon and save me. I started Awakening, but didn't play much, because I heard Anders was romanceable in DA2, so I went straight to DA2 and played as Rogue fem!Hawke, and romanced Anders. I didn't know much about Anders when I played DA2 (for the first time). Hell, I didn't even know about Justice. I was told by a dear friend of mine that things will be much different if I don't play DAA first. Totally different perspective. Nothing wrong with it, just different way to see things. I also heard few people played that way, so I really wanted to try something different than most usually did.
And even after DA2, I'm one of the few people who still like Anders.
Oh, as Hawke, I also sided with the mages, because I didn't want Anders to die, and because little sis was in the Circle. And you know the story how I started to like our dear sweet Cullen.
Speaking of the mage/templar problem, if there was a way to broker a peace, THAT would have been my choice. By the end of DA2, after observing both sides, and seeing neither of them was right, and they all made mistakes and all, I had no intention on siding with either of them (mages or templars). I liked Varric: "Oh, I'm sick of mages and templars!" or something similar, not sure I remember the line correctly. But, unfortunately, there was no way to make peace. So, since you are forced to pick a side, in that PT I had enough reasons to side with the mages, as I mentioned above.
I haven't played all origins yet, and I won't have time to finish them all before Inquisition, but I am planning on playing the origins I have left, at least the beginning, until Ostagar, because that's where you find new things.
And, I used to have a thing for the "oppressed" type of characters too, before even playing DA. But now, I like all types of characters. I never know what to choose actually.
For my first DAI PT, I will import (from the Keep, of course
) my Cousland's WS (self-insert, Warrior) and my Hawke (self-insert, Rogue). And I will also play a self-insert in DAI, and (I think this is already obvious
) I will romance Cullen. And since we are on the self-insert topic, I've just remembered: it has been confirmed that Hawke will be in Inquisition. So, if we really can make her look like she was in our original PT in DA2, that would be something glorious to see... at least for me. Because I will have a self-insert Hawke, and I will play a self-insert in DAI, so I imagine it will be like meeting my twin or something. lol! I was just thinking about it, and thought: "That would be so much fun!" I will deliberately create two identical self-inserts, if given the chance, just so I can see how that turns out and have fun with it.
What do you think about this?
EDIT: Sorry for the long post.
I only realized it after I went back and looked at it.
