Uhhh.....good point. Templar first playthrough then...

Well, you get Adrian and Fiona on Mage side, if we're lucky there'll be more moderate Rhys (& Evangeline).

Lord Seeker Lambert on the Templar side.

Not sure which one I'd do. I simply can imagine that siding with mage will hugely antagonize Cullen... Rivalmance not possible?

I knew it would be to beautiful to be true. I hoped so much to broker a peace between mages and templars, and now I learn we still have to make the choice... again.

Before the Dragon Age games I was a mage hater. Not the mages in Dragon Age, because I wouldn't have played the game yet. But the general idea of mage/witch/wizard, all that stuff. And I kept that up during my first PT of DAO. When I first played DA2, I became... fond of the mages (maybe Anders had a little influence as well :D, though I'd like to think he didn't), and I was thinking "oh, I'm going to like mages so much; I know what side I'll pick". Yeah, right. :D By the end of DA2, I didn't know what side to pick, because I no longer favored either of them. I thought: "oh, I'm tired of mages and templars" lol! And ever since, I remained with the wish to try and broker a peace between mages and templars, because I have no favorite side. :D And now, in DAI, I have to face that choice again, instead of uniting them against the biggest threat.

If there really is no other way but pick a side (mages/templars), I honestly don't know what I'm going to pick. .......Maybe I should ask for Cullen's advice. :D

So his sash around his chest is from his old Templar armor? Yeeeeeah, he's not managed to let go of his past yet. Bless him.

"Throw it away, Cullen, or so help me"

"Never! I won't let go and you can't make me!"

Indeed. I need to see for myself how both are conducting themselves at the moment, then I'll choose. I honestly can see myself siding with either group.

Lol, all I can picture is a group of templars standing to my right, grinding up red lyrium and snorting it up their noses and a group of mages to my left, slitting their wrists and making flamboyant blood patterns in the air. Both groups will be shouting "pick us" and my Inquisitor will be wondering where the nearest cliff is. :P

Lambert

Spoiler

No Rivalmance in this game. However I suspect you can side with Mages in a way that doesn't upset Cullen...speech wheel choices.

I often play pro-Templar anyway, so not a biggy.

Yea, my thoughts exactly , wish they could give us some middle ground instead of  just picking one or the other... personally  I had my fill of picking sides in DA2 and that didn't end well sooo.. yea

I always look for the easy route, rather than me pick a side I'd prefer it that the two factions had to make the decision to join me and the Inquisition. I can imagine my IQ saying something like : "You are either on my side, by my side or in my way, decide very quickly!" then it's up to them. (that's a partial quote from elsewhere, can't seem to find the author though)

Before I read Asunder, I was pretty 50/50 on the whole mage/templar thing, the book didn't help me all that much, it just muddied the waters even more imo, why can't anything be straight forward? lol. I know in my head what I want to do but that may change quickly once we actually get some dialogue and context in game.

I read Asunder followed by The Masked Empire, and I will say that all of our choices are going to be grey.

Hm, demonic possession is quicker for sure... could you imagine weeks/months of agony as those crystals slowly sprout from your skin, twisting you into that monstrosity!

Yeah, neither of them is better than the other. There is fault on both sides, and there is no "right" choice to make. There are consequences no matter what side you pick. So, middle ground would have been best. :)

But middle ground would have been the "perfect" choice and would basically invalidate those other two :)

Unless ofcourse there are hardcore fanatics that really don't want peace and decide to go with one of the factions anyway way.

Asunder spoiler:

Spoiler

Rivalmance is not a thing anymore since Rivalry is gone, but we don't know the effect that siding with mages will have on Cullen. I imagine he'll disapprove slightly but not go much further than that, since people who side with mages will still need their military advisor anyway. And they have to know that a lot of people who want to romance Cullen will be mages siding with mages, so gating the romance to that choice would be pretty dodgy.

I would hope Cullen has huge approval drops if you go for the extreme Libertarian chaos angle, if only for the sake of consistency with his character, but who knows. Fenris was still willing to romance a Hawke who was a blood mage and kept personal slaves, so... BW doesn't have a good track of keeping character personalities and their romance arcs very consistent.

I kinda think Cullen's romance arc will be entirely unrelated to mage/templar stuff, in any case, if only because that's such a predictable angle of his character to tackle that it feels like it's exactly the one they would want to subvert. Most BW romances end up subverting what they initially seem to be about and turning out to be about something entirely unrelated. So maybe they expect us to think Cullen will be all about this M/T drama, then turn the game on us and make his relationship conflict be about.... I don't know, turns out he's married to some buxomy Fereldan ginger with five kids, two dogs and a little house on the prairie, and we need to use our evil seductress wiles to lure him away from his poor innocent farmer wife. Or maybe Cullen is secretly Meredith and Orsino's bastard child. Or maybe he's your bastard brother. Or maybe he was Andraste in a past life. So many possibilities! :P

From what I am seeing, Red Tenolars are taking civilian prisoners and infecting them. So I don't think all behemoths are Templar members. But yeah, slow corruption is scary. Though I don't know if it's necessarily worse than demonic possession. Both really suck lol.

Where did you see that?

Yes, you're right. But isn't that what choice really is about? We should have a choice, and it depends on each player what kind of character role plays and what choices they want to make. :)

So I have been thinking a lot about this lately, but you know when the released the descriptions of each race and it said that the human rogue/warrior was the youngest of the family? Well I was thinking of making my rogue around the age of 23/24 because for me it fits. I feel if they were any older they would already well into their career in the chantry/order or married and starting a family of their own. Even the age of 23/24 is pushing it for where I think they would be in their life thus far (and certainly not still umming and ahing about their future). My question is, with Cullen being in his mid-30's, do any of you guys think that age difference might be a thing that the game picks up on and the LI maybe comment on it or even have a problem with it? Not that I think 10/11 years is a big deal, but Cullen may do or any of the other LI's might.

Middle ground doesn't always have to be perfect tho, there could still be consequences... like with the Chantry and/ other factions or just leave the both mages and the templars to kill each other  and do nothing.

Sometimes  i like to have a 3rd choice, witch doesn't necessarily mean  "perfect"

Since I have no idea what side to pick, and if we are going to have no other options but pick a side, then I guess some context, dialogue, something to base our choice on would be a good way to start. :)

Hello!!!

I'm trying to avoid spoilers (as hard as that might seem this days, lol) but I couldn't help to leave you guys some more of my (bad) fic concerning a certaing commander (not shepard, lol) you all love. Me? Nope! I'm not a cullenite! I keep telling myself that, lol.

The game is almost out, so I need to hurry!!!

Fair warning before you go: it's long and mildly fluffy... and it's here so read if you feel like it!

See ya around!
