Oh I couldn't remember, are some of the words recognizable? I'm so not an expert on this time period lol and don't pretend to be >.> I wouldn't even teach it cause I know nothing.

Some. "Faeder" "gyltas" and "heofonum" were enough in a random text sampling for me to figure out that I was looking at the Lord's Prayer!

I've never heard it used normally in the states.

Hmm, I'm Appalachian (or grew up there) too, but I've never heard it used except by people doing historical recreations (or in performances).

Yay!  I am from West Virginia!  We got our own...thing down there ;)

I like languages, too ^^ I wouldn't say I'm very good at learning them. Only language I ever learned was Latin, and I've mostly forgotten it :( I hear French around me quite often because of where I live, but I can't speak it, which sucks.

French language is really beautiful, musical and full of coquetry. The way words are bind to form an expression is amazing.

But somehow I really like the English language a little bit more. Personally I find that the English Language has a kind of quality of being really earnest and direct.

I'm not a contemporary poetry person but e.e.cummings has some pretty sexy poetry, too! Google "i like my body when it is with your body."

Yeah, we had to read poetry from all over history, so I'm surprised they didn't throw that at us. Maybe they thought we wouldn't have been able to handle his name? Poetry wasn't that fun for me or my easily embarrassed face. To His Coy Mistress and Goblin Market were the worst ones for me that I can remember.

I LOVE THAT POEM!! You should post one of you reading it!!!

Tolkien is my favorite poet of all time. *note my tagline" :)

I love all the Rohan stuff...it was obviously what he loved most to write, being a Beowulf expert and all.  I love the one he wrote that is like The Wanderer (ie, where is the horse gone, where is the rider...).  The Wanderer hangs above my desk, and all my fellow scientist friends always look at it and then me like I am a complete weirdo!!! Tee hee!

Well, I had this one audio recording thing from tumblr that I never finished... one of them was that I had to recite my favourite poem. I'll get on that!  I'll happily do anything that means I get to read T.S Eliot.

And I did notice your signature!  Rohan is also my favourite. When the movies were coming out I was super apprehensive (even as a kid!) over how they'd portray the Rohirrim and whether they'd do Rohan justice, but I think they did.

I can not stop watching this gif.

That gif makes me think that Sera was responsible for the dare, as well as the dance moves.

Are y'all kidding? When I learned that Solas may sometimes speak in an iambic pentameter I nearly died. Shakespeare, Beowulf, Chaucer, Catullus...

Give me a thousand kisses, then a hundred.

Then, another thousand, and a second hundred.

Then, yet another thousand, and a hundred.

Then, when we have counted up many thousands,

Let us shake the abacus, so that no one may know the number,

And become jealous when they see

How many kisses we have shared.

*swoon*

I don't know Cajun French. I was actually talking about French language currently spoken in France.

How is Cajun French actually? Never met anyone who speaks it. Up to today I only met Quebec people and they have this cute accent

Oh it was so bad. Our teacher proper hyped it up and told us it was for children and everything and I was all 'Yay a poem where I won't need to hide my Tickle Me Elmo red face!'. I was naïve and innocent back when I could trust my teachers.

That's what I like about DA. None of the characters have American accent (I think). You can hear the English language being spoken with the full spectrum of sounds it is supposed to have.

Phonetics are a major part of the game. The fact that the characters speak with such great notion of timing and such vocal flexibility, making sure the way they speak conveys emotions precisely is one of the main elements that endear me to the franchise.

That's just mean  I just assigned the poem and after they read it we discussed it. It was definitely one of the most lively discussions I'd ever had in class (as a teacher). I'll be teaching it for the second time this coming semester and can't wait :D Personally I see the poem as more religious eroticism (like the ecstasy of a religious experience being almost sexual).
