So, a stuck up prig and all around a$$hole?

I love Darcy, I really do.
No...more like...seething with lust!! Dark, deep, intense eye contact. Barely contained passion! SWOON! "Oh, Mr. Daaaarcy!"
Ok...I'll try to stop now... ![]()

You know, going from 19 to 20 was really horrible for me. I had Peter Pan Syndrome that dictates that I still feels like a kid at 19, and once it's 20 "now it starts with 2 so you're not a kid anymore..."
Hey screw what they say! Being an adult is overrated. ![]()
Everytime someone says Mr Darcy, I see Collin Firth with his white shirt wet from swimming in a pond...
The BBC P&P is the only P&P
Although I watched the Keira Knightley version on netflix last night, and I was surprised to find out that I actually really like that Mr. Darcy! He portrays the shyness and social insecurity of him very well! But Colin Firth is still my favourite Darcy.
And I'll check out Kate Berdoll!
The actor who plays Darcy in Lost in Austen might actually be my favorite!
Completely agree with you on the "direct action guy" part.
Are you talking about Mr Darcy from Pride & Prejudice? Maker no, this guy is horrible for the first half of the book! Can't stand his arrogance...
But so is Lizzie
Arrogant, I mean. Proud and prejudiced too.
We see Darcy through Lizzie's eyes only, so whatever she thinks of him is what we end up thinking of him. Not denying that he was horrible for the first half of the book though, cause he was a massive a-hole.
What he did to Jane and Bingley was a huge no-no. But then you find out why he did the things he did and not only is he willing to admit that he did them, he's also willing to see that he made a huge mistake, is repentant for them, and is also willing to try and fix things. Not to mention his one line-"One word from you will silence me on this subject forever." SO swoonworthy! I first read the book when I was 11 and I was swooning even then.
The reason why Darcy and Lizzie work so well is because they're both very similar; they're both very proud, arrogant, and prone to quick judgements. They're also extremely stubborn. But because of they're so similar they can call each other on their faults, which helps them grow past them. And Darcy is a little more patient than Lizzie is, whereas Lizzie is more lively and vibrant, so they encourage each other in the places where they are lacking.

Hmm well there's a mildly steamy Darcy/Elizabeth scene in Death Comes to Pemberley ... and I just hurr-hurr'ed at "comes" ![]()

Texas (which about like saying "the east coast," the state is way too big). I've lived in every large city in the state at least once but now live in purgatory
. Heck, apparently I got the wanderlust gene for my entire family (I've moved so often that when I actually stayed at one address for four years, my family started checking just to be sure because the address seemed too old
).
Hahaha I live in Texas now
I think a mixture of all three, although I'm getting the sense that he may be more of an actions-speak-louder-than-words-guy, ever since the War Table livestream where he said, "How? They've only words at their disposal," with a little bit of derision in his voice. Well, that, and he's our direct action guy.
I kinda hope that he'll remind me a little of Mr. Darcy, actually! Still a little shy, although he's grown past that, or at least, has learnt to deal with his shyness over the years. More reserved rather than shy. If you don't know him well, then he might seem very distant, but if you're willing to give him a chance, then he'll surprise you with his sincerity and warmth. He's got some very subtle tells of his affection if you know what to look for, although he may have to be gently reminded that he may have to be more obvious than he's accustomed to.
I may have gone on a P&P kick randomly last night, so I might still be swooning from Mr. Darcy and am biased because of that.
I do hope he's a little more direct in his romance arc, even if it's a subtle kinda directness. If that makes sense. :S
This is sorta what I could imagine. I've always expected him to be rather awkward but sweet. Now that we've seen sassy Cullen, tho... Hmmm. I may have to rethink that. Imagine sass mixed with a little Darcy arrogance for some assertive!Cullen?? Yes please.
You know, going from 19 to 20 was really horrible for me. I had Peter Pan Syndrome that dictates that I still feels like a kid at 19, and once it's 20 "now it starts with 2 so you're not a kid anymore..."
Now that I'm going on 25, people keep reminding me that I already live a quarter of a century...
LOL You know, age 25 was when I first started to feel old and things started to not work quite as well. Heh. Welcome to the future! ![]()
mmm...I wonder why...
lol Honestly I think he just captures the character the best. He portrays "cold" and "stuck up" really well, but he's also quite sexy, so you get why Elizabeth is initially attracted. Of course pure sex appeal wouldn't be enough to win a smartypants like her over. As the film progresses, you see a certain kind of noblesses oblige (sp?) that he (the actor) just so excellently articulates.
But so is Lizzie

I always picture Darcy x Lizzie is a kind of... Rivalmance. At first at last.
At least Cullen doesn't seems to be this proud & arrogant. Proud & a tiny bit zealot & has all his opinion already pre-made maybe, I haven't seen a single video/scene showing his arrogant side. It can really be interesting.
Hmm well there's a mildly steamy Darcy/Elizabeth scene in Death Comes to Pemberley ... and I just hurr-hurr'ed at "comes"
Awww, that one erase all the Rivalmance between Darcy & Lizzie!!! (And D**N Wickham didn't die at the end!)
LOL You know, age 25 was when I first started to feel old and things started to not work quite as well. Heh. Welcome to the future!
I honestly didn't start feeling old till I graduated (32); probably a result of going to school for so long, so I never had to feel like an "adult." (Real full time job, for example)
Actually, being an adult is fantastic! I have money to buy cool toys and travel, I can drink, I can have ice cream for dinner if I damn well please
I was being a tad sarcastic. Lol, my point was that you shouldn't need to sacrifice that spark of being a child as you become an adult.

Well it's been several years since they've married; they've grown up a bit.
They do still have a spat... Elizabeth is much calmer these days, and Darcy, well, he's still a jerk lol But he comes around.

I was going to do the thing where you quote all the posts that you want to like but can't because you're out of likes, but then I'd make a super long post just full of quotes. So LIKE! LIKES FOR EVERYONE!
Hmmm...I wonder why...
...so, Cullen should be able to swim right? On account of living in a tower in the middle of a lake for quite some time. And then a city right by the ocean. So... what do you guys think are the chances of us getting a Darcy-esque scene with Cullen coming out of the water after a swim...? ![]()
Spoken like a man without massive credit card debt and student loans!
Lol, I got a big enough scholarship ensuring I have no loans. ![]()
It makes me wonder, how would most people prefer Cullen to woo a female Inquisitor?
Recite poetry and sonnets, a medieval courtship, a bizarre copper marigold relief, or just a straight to the point "We'll bang, okay?"

Hoz about elvish?
People keep telling me how Finnish sounds like Elvish, when they hear me speak it. Before I used to reply something among the lines of "Um, I guess they're kinda sorta similar?" but after listening this I have to completely agree with them. (Well, Elvish was partly based on Finnish so it does make sense...
)
Eluvianus Rex...
For me...age 27 - the most amazing year of my life. I fell in love (real, deep, passionate, soul-shattering love) for the first time. I looked the best, felt the best, really knew who I was and what I wanted and what it meant to be alive. I was on fire!!
So, at 20...I have a feeling the best is yet to come for you!!
Gah...I sound so...old...ugg!!! ![]()

That was what I thought at first. First time I feel old is when I get my first job ever. The transition from being student living with roommates & friends to Corporate Life is like... being thrown in a cage full of coyotes. I was really happy with my paycheck, until I realize the tolls it takes to live with a mask permanently, at workplace at least.
