Right guys, so I think I'm going to go on my media blackout a little earlier than I thought, mostly because I have a huge weakness for spoilers, and while generally I don't mind them and usually actively seek them out... I want to try and be as surprised as I possibly can for this game. I wasn't able to do this for Mass Effect because by the time I discovered it the first two games were out, and then the huge leak for ME3 happened. So this is the first Bioware game that I'll be able to do this for. I already succumbed and watched the AJ video on it, which was pretty spoilery, but it made me realize that it's probably best to leave before the last embargo gets lifted on the 11th because I won't be able to resist. Plus, I subscribed to early access, so I just need to hold out a little longer!

So before I go, I'd just like to invite everyone who hasn't already joined the Cullenite multiplayer group! It's spoiler free, and it's meant to help everyone find people to play with on their respective platforms! There's also a thread for people who would like to share Keep world states. So if you would like to join, just shoot me a PM and I'll send you an invite. And there's enough people already in the group that if I don't see your message, then someone else should be able to invite you in. If you need to reach me for other reasons, then I should still be getting email alerts about any PM's I get, or there's my tumblr, twitter or skype, which are all under the same name I use here.

Happy days everyone! I left the bsn after ME3, seemingly permanently, but I came back once I got into Dragon Age--and only because I heard so much about how friendly and inclusive this thread is! And they were right! Thanks for all the awesome discussions, speculation, jokes, art and writing! You're all lovely people. See you again in about a month!

I was just thinking the same thing earlier. It's getting a bit too risky now. I don't mind some spoilers but there is some big ones creeping in. Enjoy those first moments with lovely Cullen :)

Yeah, I'm probably going to go dark tomorrow or in the next few days. If this is anything like the last few Bioware releases some jerk will be posting the ending scenario on the forums and spamming it everywhere, and I'd rather avoid that. You will be missed Ms. fish!

Greetings all.

I'm pretty sure this was discussed at length the moment the Cullen/Dorian Thedasian chess cutscene was revealed but y'all know me...always late for everything. :P

Anyway, the fact that Cullen is enjoying a bit of downtime with a mage is quite a revelation when you consider his feeling towards magic-users over the course of these past two games. That being said, was there any speculation from Cullenites on why you believe this is so? Has Cullen softened his stance on mages because he realizes that not every mage is an abomination-in-waiting? Or do you think it might might have something to do with Dorian's pariah status in the Tevinter Imperium?

Or it just might be that a certain female mage Inquisitor (Inquisitress?) may have tempered his heart...  ;)

Cullen has spent a lot of time around mages over the course of his life as a Templar. Sure, he had a very bad experience with Uldred in the Circle Tower of Ferelden, but I'd like to think that his experiences with the worst that Templars are capable of with Meredith tempered his harsh feelings left over from that incident.

If nothing else, he showed himself capable of judging a person as an individual rather than as a mage or something else at least twice over depending on how you dealt with him in DA:O and DA2. If that's the kind of person you are, then that tends to be the kind of person you are even if you wind up with bad experiences in your past. And that will make it that much harder when we have to choose between mages and Templars. I'm afraid that choice is going to suck hard.

I am sure they will bring that up in game. It is quite a change for them to leave out his reasons altogether. Also many people start of zealots for a cause but with time, become disillussioned.

I get the feeling lots of players will antagonize with Cullen. Afer I saw a playthrough, most of his advice is centered on making a military occupation. It's not a kind of "shoot first, ask questions later" policy, but something akin to it.

Spoiler

Spoiler

But then again, those choices were out of his field of knowledge (diplomacy and magic). So when the Inquisitor is faced with strategic decisions that involve deploying troops, choosing where to open fronts, defending supply lines and other military choices, Cullen will come out as the one with the best advice on the table.

That's what I like about Bioware. You end up learning a lot about how to manage information and use it wisely. Nothing is automated. You must think before you act, and that requires intelligence. Most games are just move stick+push button.

I don't know if it's been brought up yet but I thought I'd just point something out for posterity's sake. Gonna put it under a spoiler since it involves some footage that was just released today - nothing involving any major plot details, but I figure I better be safe than sorry.

Another thing I enjoyed seeing in this game is how, for the first time in a game - at least for my gaming experience -, the protagonist doesn't make choices that will impact the world based solely on his own judgement.

Decisions are made as it is in real life: by a small group of people who are the Head of the institution. They present choices for you and it's up to your char to direct your resources the best way you see fit.

You no longer have to think for yourself all the way and suddenly beat every obstacle in your way by a combination of muscle, guns (or swords) and sheer luck.

When the Warden had to negotiate with the 4 groups -Mages, Dalish, Redcliffe and Dwarves - he had to do everything by himself. Our allies did not help us in the least. I mean, wtf. One warden thought of everything and saved the world thus? What is he, All-wise, All-seeing, All-understanding? Our Warden knew nothing - or close to that - regarding 3 of these groups. If you were an elf, you certainly knew nothing about Orzammar and Redcliffe. If you were a Mage, you never even set foot outside the Circle, and yet, you alone know all Ferelden and is able to negotiate with all kinds of people, even if you have no idea as to how their society works, much less how to even say Hello without being ignored or sounding offensive.

Why couldn't we discuss strategy with our companions before heading out to Orzammar or Redcliffe? Seriously, all we had was like one quick talk with Alistair in Lothering and then BAM! Alright Warden, now it's up to you to lead. Wait, WHAT. Da hell, I'm not ready for this!

So, can't wait for me and my advisors to get our heads together and lead the Inquisition.

Yes, I think it is time for me to go on a mediablackout as well.   I am really weak with spoilers . I read the leaked script for ME3 when it a came out and I saw the leaks of DA2 as well (I think Gamestop had leaked it if I remember).  I am a kingdom hearts fan as well and watched live streams of Birth by Sleep on justintv when it was released in Japan before it was released in the US so knew the entire game before I played it. I was completely surprised for Origins as I did not follow the game prior to release and knew absolutely nothing about it.I want to be surprised for the Inqusition.

It has been lovely Cullenites. I loved doing the cakes and reading all the wonderful fanfictions and looking at the beautiful artwork. I will be back after DAI releases to discuss all the new info we learn about Cullen, :D
I have to say this is the nicest thread on the Citadel forum....see everyone soon and thanks for being so awesome, friendly, and welcoming. I don't post often but always enjoy the discussion.

Alright folks I am gonna have to join the others on the media blackout. As much as I love spoilers I really do want this game to be fresh to me and exciting. Thank you for welcoming me when I came in here seeking a safe harbor back in July. I have really started to like everyone in here and am happy I found you guys. Have fun and enjoy Romancing Cullen <3 I won't be back in until I fully complete the game and his romance so I don't accidentally get spoilers from others who are further along. See y'all then :)

So...now that everyone is gone...   dunno if anyone remembers I said I was working on a pottery project...well...it didn't turn out cullen themed, but it is dragon age...kirkwall themed to be precise. Thought some of you who may be left would like to see my progress ^_^ It's not glazed or fired yet...but it does look pretty cool in my humble opinion :D (its my very first pottery class, so don't be expecting fantastic art, lol!)

R2, at this point, I would suggest you simply unsubscribe to emails from this thread, cause I don't think it's gonna stop, cause clearly people aren't being the least bit cognizant or respectful of those who can still see the spoilers in emails. People aren't getting the hint. <_<

Damnit!  I feel like the kid in ME3, the one in the airshaft at the beginning when the reapers hit.  "Everybody's dying..." Except for me it's like "Everybody's leaving..."

Nah, people aren't really leaving. It's late at night, and usually the thread slows down around now anyways. And a few people are just getting a little annoyed at the cavalier attitude towards spoilers, which is like walking through a minefield.

Well, hopefully, once the game is out, we can all come back and...dare I say it...SQEEEEEEEE over every detail of our favorite Templar.

In the meantime...

There once was Templar from Thedas

Whose velvety voice nearly slayed us

So we drew lotsa pics

And wrote some fan fics

And dared all the haters to hate us!!!
