The thing is though, even the written-only dialogue was always intended to have a specific tone by the writers. And this is what the other characters are responding to, no matter what you headcanon it to sound like. I can't tell you how many times I thought to make a deeply sarcastic comment, only to have the other character react like I'd just done them a completely serious insult. ~_~

I agree, I'm thinking I'll really like the tone icons. In Origins, I had to look up the right conversation options because I could never tell when teasing Alistair would make him love me or hate me -.-

The thing is even a sarcastic comment can sound insulting, since its just a matter the words you use.

True. I guess you'd react pretty much the same to sarcasm taken too far as a serious insult. The thing is though, a lot of those comments didn't actually sound that bad in a sarcastic voice, hence my surprise.

Yeah, this is mostly what I was referring to. Sometimes you'd be joking with Alistair only for him to suddenly get insulted, when what you were saying was really pretty much the same as what he was saying.

Wasn't this the case in DAO too, though? After Ostagar, the Wardens had basically a 0% approval rating among the people and you could do all kinds of stuff to win them over. Of course, you didn't have to, as the treaties would ensure support anyway, but it was a similar starting from zero situation.

Not really, the Warden had hundreds of years of history of being active. Many commoners & nobles directly expressed that they do not believe the Warden to be guilty of Treason as proclaimed by Loghain. Many shown their support openly or discreetly. It's an organization well known already.

Did you guys see the video where the male dwarf Inquisitor flirts with Cullen? It is sooo cute.

I'll just leave the link to it here, in case you want to check it out. :)

The Tevinter Chantry do say that she was a mage. The White Chantry push a sword and board Andraste.

It doesn't particularly worry me...dogma/myth vs history....a bit like the game of chinese whispers....of course that means she was an archer.... :P

Oh, that's really interesting. I wonder if Andraste was actually some sort of Arcane Warrior who learned to augment her physical ability with magic. That would make everyone right in a sense... and it would also explain how each branch of the Chantry was able to interpret her abilities towards their own ends

Lol, I've had a theory that not only was she a mage, but also a Dreamer. Either consciously or unconsciously, she was able to use her power to have people believe in her so completely. Also, I think that might have been how she communicated with "The Maker".

I completely agree, Aveline and Cass are some of my favourite characters because they've got muscles and aren't feminised, so why does the player protagonist never get to be like that? Why was FemHawke super-slim, when male Hawke was a beefy guy, considering the two had the exact same backstory save for their gender?

The examples in Dragon Age where the women looked like they could easily go toe-to-toe in an arm-wrestling contest with their male counterparts, were the female dwarves in Origins, but they too have been lipoed along with the men to remove any stockiness and muscle they may once have had?

I'm out of likes, but exactly. I loved the DAO female dwarves for exactly that reason. I just can't look at any of the female inquisitors and imagine them with the personalities I give most of them anymore, especially once they start moving. What frustrates me is that they effectively (intentionally or not) blocked off any way to opt out of that. At least responding or addressing why the potential masking fixes are genuinely impractical would at least suggest they recognize that they (intentionally or not) put up a "not wanted" sign to exclude some people.

What's hard is I don't want to suggest that there's anything wrong with some people wanting what they're offering. It's the inescapability of what they're offering for those who don't.

It could a little tricky knowing how something would come across exactly, and sometimes they seemed to want you to be surprised by how you can get angry comments to diplomatic choices. Remember that Hahren at the Dalish clan? Or how Ser Cauthrien dismissed you as "churl" if you were snarky to Howe, but seemed to have a little pensive respect for you if you were aggressive or threatening towards him?

Well, I'm leaving on a jet plane, guys (or rather returning home on one). Wish me luck. Flying makes me nervous and I want to survive until Inquisition. :)

p.s. Do you BELIEVE my kindle just changed Jet plane to aeroplane? I can't wait to have my computer back.

On a random note, I just remembered that I had this awesome dream last night where I was in the game and meeting with the advisors, then just when Cullen was about to open his mouth to speak, my cat sat on my head to wake me up...

Also, we should remember to choose words wisely and be respectful of others.

Throwing that out into the universe as well.

Here, have a Cullen!

I also hate the new animations look for the female, my hips don't sway like that, when walking and running.

No, they are angels sent by the Gods themselves to relieve humanity from boredom.
