Am I the only person sort of worried that all of the romances in this game are going to end with unavoidable separation? Especially if it's purposely done so that the developers don't have to worry about carrying them over into future game continuity.

After Mass Effect 3 and all the romance sadness that happened there, I'll admit I'm a bit worried. But while I'm sure there is at least ONE tragic romance, not all of them are going to be like that. Hopefully. At least not with Cullen.
I'm sensing more of a tragic ending with someone like Solas, or Cassandra.

Well, that thought has never crossed my mind. But I do highly doubt it, could you imagine the rage they would receive over that? They aren't silly.
But I'd say there is a possibility of all romances ending in an avoidable separation if you don't play your cards right with the chosen LI.

Why Cassandra, if I might ask? I can understand Solas, but I don't exactly get a tragic kind of vibe from her. I would hope Cullen's isn't, Maker knows that poor man needs some lasting happiness for once in his life after all the tragic events he's already witnessed up until now. ![]()

I suppose I get that feeling because she's joining you as this already established hero, I mean her title is the "Hero of Orlais". What was it Varric said? "Well, it's not a good story unless the hero dies."
Not saying she will DIE but she's the dutiful right hand of the divine. The idea of her having a happy ending with the mess going on in Thedas is hard for me to imagine. But I hope I'm wrong! Everyone should get happy endings. ;-;

Hm, if we're going on Varric's quote, wouldn't that also put Hawke into the mold as well? Depending on which side Hawke had chose in the conclusion of DA2, they can still be seen as a hero amongst certain groups. With Bioware's attraction to killing protagonists or making them suffer, and seeing there wasn't an opportunity to kill off Hawke in DA2, well...
I'm putting the second half in tags even though I don't know if speculation counts as spoilers, per se, but don't want to chance it.

True true, Cassandra's just been given a lot of press and I could see them pushing for a twist with her... but I haven't seen enough of her romance material, so I'm just taking shots in the dark.
And in response to your speculation

Here, have a Cullen!
Source: I took a printscreen from a spoilery video so PM me if you want to see it. I've edited the text so no one see what was being... said. Low graphic choice apparently made everyone's hairds and beards so shiny like Pantene commercials.
Awesome!
PM me pretty pleeeeeease! ![]()

I'm so excited, Hubby just handed over his controller, he's an xbox junkie who categorically refused to let me on his console for the 6 hour trial (probably because of all my pointed PC master race comments over the past decade and a half) but he's actually a total softy underneath it all and after my best Fenris puppy eyes impression, I have the box and I'm downloading the trial now. Why is it taking so long....... ![]()

Have fun! Don't stay up all night! ![]()
Edit: I'm staring at my xbox now thinking, "why didn't I do it?" Lol, I would use the whole 6 hours just playing in the CC and quickly cancel out before it went into the game.

Boom, join me on the darkside. Sure it's an EA Access subscription and 41gb download for 6 hours of a game you're (in my case) buying on a completely different platform but ask yourself this, isn't Cullen worth it!

I'm at 2%......................
Is it 6 hours from when the download is complete or 6 hours from when you start playing?

I think it's six hours from the time you start it up but I can't say for certain. My download is running like a dog, I'm getting about 1% every 15 minutes. Some people say that you can play it after about 15-20% though, so that's something to hold out for. I'm thinking of going to bed now and getting up about 1-2am to see if it's playable. At least that way I can guarantee the kids will be sleeping and the house quiet for the precious.

Spoiler
I'm hoping above all else that your group/companions/LI fates is going to come down to how you play your game. Undoubtably there are going to be some hair-raising moments and difficult decisions but I have everything crossed that we can bring everyone through the game mostly undamaged if that's what we choose.
Ohh and good luck to all of you with EA early access, wow, what a treat! Although I have to say I think I would find the wait even more painful lol to have a taste, a good taste and for it to end and then have to wait again, ouchie!
Have a blast though and say "Hi" to Cullen for me, tell him I'll see him next Friday and to clear his diary ![]()

12 Days of Cullen: Day 8
On the Eighth Day of Cullen, my templar gave to me …
Eight mabari barking,

"Just what every new Fereldan household needs," Cullen said,
looking pleased and anxious at the same time.
Seven swords aflaming,
Six stars aligning,
FIVE JARS OF BEES!
Four Orlesian mage hats,
Three squabbling advisors,
Two Andraste’s Grace,
and a lion helmet just for me!

We have over 10++ ending combinations no? There'll be (IMO):
1. The Inquisitor died saving the world (sad)
2. The Inquisitor & LI saved the world together, then share a kiss (open ending)
3. The Inquisitor & LI didn't break the relationship but life bring them apart (that scenario that the Quizzy got called by the Divine for example)
4. The LI gave his/her life to save the world/the Quizzy (sad)
5. Race scenario: an elven one want to go home to his/her clan, human noble too etc
etc
I hope that'll be a scenario that you can refuse to help the Divine or things like that. For example, an elve

One is where demons win and everyone dies ^^ I guess that is similar to Reaper win end in ME3.
