It's an official tl;dr of DA2+Asunder for new players (and old players who don't wanna read the book, I guess).
It'd be a great asset to show to every new player so they can understand what's going on in the world in under five minutes, except it's so slanted that it doesn't represent what actually went down and sorta railroads these new players into one side instead of leaving the story neutral enough that they can make their own decisions. Kinda useless as a tl;dr if it makes you have to explain even more stuff after the video is done.
I don't know who I'm kidding wishing for a neutral narrative in this supposedly "shades of grey" conflict, though, the writing of these games has never not been extremely biased towards the same one side from the get go anyway.
I agree it came across slanted. On the other hand,

Unless you're keeping them under a rock, they've probably already seen much more by 13 or 14 than the game seems to show in the way of nudity and sex. I'd be a lot more concerned about having my kids watch the extremely violent content than the romances, but everyone has their personal moral compass on these issues. However, if my teen sassed me about defying my decision on something, yeah, there'd be repercussions for that reason.

I have seen kid cartoons with more violence than DAO...I have come to accept this as a lesson for my kids between reality and fantasy. So far they seem to have it spot on.

On topic....if they are now showing...<snip>
I believe this is not common knowledge yet, so let's keep it under spoiler tags, ok? I think the guys keeping a tighter leash on spoilers like R2, Lola, Boom, etc don't know about this stuff yet.
I'll repeat here what I said about this at reddit, though:

This is a common response, that I tend to get. I generally respond it's not the sex scenes that concern me, nor even the blood splatter and overt violence. Their dad was a soldier, they understand that sometimes warriors step up to protect the ones who can't fight for themselves. And you're right, anyway -- most kids these days have been exposed to such scenes in games and movies many times before already.
What concerns me, in regards Bioware games in particular, isn't the scenes themselves, though. But the personal latitude each player is allowed in making decisions that dance along very profound lines of ethical mores. My children are still exploring those lines, they still come to me asking questions and posing concerns. I recognize that MY kids aren't yet prepared to be the ones facing such choice-making. Not yet. They're still too young, too naive and innocent at this point (my 13 year-old asked me to get her a My Little Pony doll for Xmas, sigh ... don't ask, I don't get it).
For me, though, I only figure they have time enough before trying to understand these careful nuances, shrug.

This is really interesting, and i like the fact that you are trying to preserve your kid's innocence in regards to moral and ethical choices. Creating ones own value system is without ta doubt the most difficult and painful part of growing up (at least it was for me...losing my religion at 12 was a very profound chnage in my life). My parents didn't have a strong moral compass for me to follow (they weren't bad people...just uneducated and both from very abusive and impoverished backgrounds, so they were kind working on themselves as I was growing up). So, most of my value system came from books and my teachers at school. If a video game like this had been around and I had played it, I wonder how it would have affected me? Something to ponder...
Considering that...I wonder...isn't 15 or so the age when they are getting exposed to pretty heavy stuff in their school curriculum? I can't remember exactly, but I am pretty sure we were reading Lord of the Flies in 8th grade. I remember watching Schindler's list in 9th grade history.

Sorry to keep responding to this, but i just had a really powerful memory sneak up on me. I grew up in very rural area. The faculty at our school made a little wall of "religions around the word" and put in the hall at school. So there were pictures of mosques, churches, etc. I remember one of my classmates crying in class, actually crying uncontrollably, because he thought the faculty were trying to convert christian kids to Islam. As the "token atheist", he considered me like a spawn of satan or something (alot of the kids did). But I remember feeling so bad for him because he was so upset and trying to comfort him and trying to explain how he needed to be tolerant of other people's faith and how he could still hold on to his, etc. But I didn't have the WORDS to explain what I meant (ie, as you siad, the subtle nuances) and it was so frustrating!. I remember him forcibly shoving my arm away from him and saying that I was trying to corrupt him. Then I was crying.
It was a weird time.
It was a heavy scene, but I remember how confusing it was for all of us. And we were 15. So...I guess the point of sharing this memory is that 15 is a weird age. Kids aren't as mature as we think they are, alot of times. They try to be, but they have a lot to learn...
So...I really respect your view on this. If that makes any sense!

I'd say 13 is definitely a transitional age. But from what I can gather from friends who teach at middle schools and high schools, there's quite a bit of sex already going on by 14 or 15 (including a lot of kids whose parents are firmly convinced would never do so - I live in the Bible belt). Which isn't, frankly, that different from 40 years ago when I was a teen, they were just a lot more secretive about it - I was so quiet then that people constantly said things in front of me, forgetting I was there (or maybe that I could talk
).
Every parent has to decide what he or she is comfortable with and what works for them and their family. If there had been games with content like the DA games when mine were teens, I personally would probably have weighed the way romance is portrayed in the games (which is generally respectful and generally ends with love if successful) against what they might find on some of the graphic web sites that were already springing up, and I'd have taken individual age and maturity into account (and the likelihood that my child would still see the material away from home). I think timebean actually raises a more complicated concern for a younger teen, the fact they're often already confused and questioning religion and society, and these games wander into some complicated subjects without easy answers.
