Well if that's what ps3/xbox 360 players are getting.. I guess we can't do much.

It would have been nice though if they had at least shown us the graphics, and some gameplay from those consoles lol

I understand but that is Bioware's problem to solve not customers who is still paying full price of inferior version. I don't think why I should somehow be happy with awful textures in hair. Idk why you even keep pushing this to me.

I agree, though we are kind of getting an inferior version graphics wise and in other regards (less ambient NPCs).
Panda, there's another thread with shots on 360. It doesn't look as bad as low setting pc. Check it out :).

Holy Sh*t...... :o ......*feints* Cullen: "Wait! I didn't mean to...I mean...uhh...maker, please wake up, Leliana's going to scold me!"

You are such a sucker for a smouldering glance!  :P

The big question....is smirking Cullen or smouldering Cullen sexier?

Smouldering......without a doubt, I love me some smouldering   Cullen does have a smexy smirk though but I'll vote for the smexy smoulder every time :D

I mainly use about red or dark type of hair, I think at most Aerila Hawke has white hair, because she had a run in with a demon. Thought Felmeth helped Malchom Hawke get the demon out of her.

I've never played on a console, so I can't directly make any comparisons but up until a year or so ago I had an ancient pc with a clapped out graphics card. In my experience, you just had to go easy with hair colours, the lighter colours (whites and light blondes) always looked awful! blotchy and plastic whereas darker shades looked absolutely fine. It seems to me that whoever created that char in the picture deliberately chose the worst hair colour to use as an example to bring about a reaction. I haven't seen any but are there old gen or low setting pc pictures of Inquisitors with mid-darker hair colours? Your Warden is lovely Panda but she has black hair, it would be interesting to see her with white or blonde, I don't think she would look anything like as good as she does.

I have a feeling that at worst, those of us with lower specs, be it on console or pc may feel restricted in the actual shade of hair colour we use in order for it to look better, it's disappointing for sure but I honestly don't think it's going to be that bad. (unless you really want to play with white hair, in which case :()

Actually the white seems to be only okayish hair color at the moment on DAI. I have seen black and it's plastic too.

White, bald and shaven seem to be only playable hairstyles with older gen and low graphic PC. It is very restricting and white was what I was only planning for my qunaris. Beard is useless for me with that quality even with white so my qunari can't have that. I hope stubble is okay at least. I planned to have one blond, one red and one character with brown hair along with my qunaris but I don't think they will look good with the shiny hair.

Runs back into the thread from the main forums...

Shakes head, for the love of the Maker, people not content with spoilers are now making their own up!  Real, friend of a friend, saw it posted on Reddit, maybe, but not confirmed and I'm going to troll people with it in the character thread and spoiler section. Gah!

****, Cullen, don't stare at me like that.

Damn, I just wet my pants. And not in the gross way.

I'd say that photo was a bit of both, wouldn't you? I find smirk-less smoulders a little bit...unnerving. But smoulder-less smirks are just lovely to look at, not really feint worthy...definitely giggle worthy however ^_^. That SS was just a perfect swoon inducing mix

I wouldn't think of the Frostbite Engine as inferior - it just prioritizes visual aesthetics over efficiency. If they hadn't used the engine I doubt we'd be able to see all the glorious individual planes of light reflected off of Cullen's face the way we potentially could now. In one of the streams I remember that they mentioned how happy they were that Frostbite supports more in-depth lighting, and I have to agree that it's glorious. Of course, the only issue is that only the people with the highest end systems are going to be able to appreciate this graphical enhancement.

All I have right now is a clunky laptop to play Inquisition with so I'm as sad as anyone else in my position, but as an artist I also don't blame them for wanting to optimize their graphics and aim for the best possible outcome because the game really is gorgeous at the highest settings. You can see bits of light reflecting off the individual creases on Cullen's face, light reflecting off his nostril, even a bit of light hitting his lower lip - it's magnificent, and it's a far cry from what we've seen in the previous two games. It'll also help a lot because now I have super detailed screenshots to use as references for my fanart  Computers are getting better, faster, and stronger all the time, so I guess I'm used to seeing my stuff become obsolete after just a few years of use. But then again, I haven't had a real desktop for like 5 years already so it's about time I upgraded, LOL. sigh

Sorry guys, it was my bedtime.  :)

Spoiler

Thank you! That's really helpful... and a relief to hear.

Hmmmm it's looking like I may have to jump into a couple multiplayer matches before I start the single-player campaign, just to test out the waters with how each class plays this time? I'm still rather set on Archer Supremacy 4life, but it looked sort of static in AJ's video (though he was trying to tank with an archer... oh, Joe ), dual-wielding looks weird but it may play better than it looks?, sword and shield looks pretty heavy but at the same time Cassandra kicks butt in every stream I've seen.... aaaaah, decisions!

Well, I'm gonna be spending hundreds of hours with my first character, so I'd better settle on her class already, because I'm so not restarting halfway through. Specially not before I get into Cullen's pants. :P

Gosh! Stirring stuff :)

To think though, all of these epic scores have been written and played for OUR Inquisition, our Inqs, our adventures  My Inquisitor already feels unworthy :D

I may have peaked my hype too soon, feeling kind of blergh about it all today lol I think I've worn myself out :D I don't want to play any of my current games as they are all Meh! because they aren't DA:I lol. Hubby is still battering through WoW....I was honored and got a wee shot while he walked the dog, how gracious of him  When he came back, I AFK'd him in a cave wanting his char to die.....just my luck, it didn't lol I really am a witch

Ok, let's pretend that launch day is actually a pre-arranged blind date between Cullen & our Inqs. How would that play out for your characters with however many days you have left until you click "Play"? Is your quizzy nervous, worried or raring to go get him? Do you think Cullen will take it in his stride, not give it much thought until nearer the day or do you think he will be nervous too?

Lol, tanking with an archer? Sounds legit!

Yeah I think it plays better than it looks once you get into the habit of not holding down auto-attack -- doing that was the only problem I had and once I stopped things became much easier and smoother. I think using the MP to test the waters is a good idea though I don't know if you can play it right off the bat, I think you may have to wait until you go through the prologue and get to the war table? If that is the case I say make your character the class you lean towards the most, play up until you do MP then try the others out. It won't be too far into the game that it would be frustrating to restart (only like and hour for the prologue, tops). You will just have to have the resolve to keep your eager hands/mouth/feet--and why don't we just go with entire body--away from Cullen.  :P

Wow, those old gen pictures are completely craptastic.  There may be some tweaking from the patch that will sort out the random shiny patches in the hair though, I think it's unlikely the company would be happy with the results.  Also the only thing I can really suggest is to minimize the hair options on your PC.  If you haven't got a big bushy beard glowing peculiarly at you, I'm sure the results will be less glaring and of course after a while you get used to the way things look and don't even notice them anymore.  The beauty of DA has always been getting caught up in the story and characters and once you are immersed then you simply stop seeing the flaws so obviously.   :)

A simple: 'wow' does this piece of art some serious injustice

The old gen actually doesn't look bad other then the shiny hairs, Which a review said it's a weird bug that Apply the shiny armour effects on hairs and beards :/.

If it's bug it should be something BW is willing to fix. Hopefully they do.

Meanwhile I'm waiting for PS3 version of shiny lego hair...

hahah oh my... so i've said it few times before, my first quizzy's gonna be self-inserted.... hmmm in this case i'd better describe my own reaction to this kind of a date (oh it would be so nice if cullen were real ;A; ) ... yeaaahhhh i friggin know myself too good, i'd just start fangirling inside "oh my effin god!!! he's so hot!!! i didn't expect that! don't make a fool out of yourself, keep calm guuurl, smile and be yourself" and then i would start devaluing myself in thoughts, because of how ugly i am, and i would start feeling bad, because i will never deserve a man like him. oh yeah, that's me and my pretty f-ed up mind (:

about cullen... i just love to think he'd be a big, awkward dork, that's the type of guys i like the best! ;u; not too overconfident, or douchy, or conceited.

Thanks for clarifying that Elder King.  I'm sure that many people will be relieved to know that the hair is a known bug (which presumably will be patched day one).  I know some were thinking of cancelling their order and this information will probably give them confidence to know they aren't going to have to suffer through completely horrible appearances.   :)

Edit - to be honest the hair even on a powerful PC is probably going to be Inquisitions weakest point.  I think it's awful but there's nothing that can be done about it now.
