I still find the transition to "women don't game" very weird since women were a pretty high percentage of gamers in the early days of tabletop RPGs (my first group was more than half female, in fact). I was a little shocked when my daughters first mentioned the anti-woman attitude of a lot of gamers. I'd gotten used to ageism in MMORPGs, even though a number of my women friends, including a couple in their 60s, play MMORPGs and other computer games pretty heavily. My first inkling of the problem was when my oldest came back from a con 8 or 9 years ago rolling her eyes at some guys who got their knickers in a twist because she was in the LAN room kicking their butts in one of the 1st person combat games all day. They got a lesson in which person not to throw insults at that day (she could give Vivienne competition in devastating insults), but that's when I found out this was ordinary now.
I've been playing video games since I was little, but I never met another girl who did until I got to making friends online. Even now I have no irl friends who play video games, guy or girl. My friends are mostly into board games, which I also love, but still. I grew up with the idea that girls and women playing video games was something that just didn't happen, except for me.
I'm sure there are lots of girl gamers out there, they're just really hard to find. But yes I can relate too, I don't have many female gamer friends either (well intense gamer friends). I'm happy I decided to make an account here, or I wouldn't have found such awesome people like you all

Well, hopefully you know otherwise now, with all of us here. Maybe the ones local to you are just uncomfortable with admitting it, if that's the attitude there. My daughters had a lot of models (including two different female game store owners) that kept any other pressure for bothering them much, I guess. I don't have many local friends, male or female, who game, but I have lots of them in Austin, Houston, and Dallas, plus others all over the country (and now internationally I guess).
And I broke down and started a twitter account finally, though I seem to have misfiled my Tishina photo, so I snipped one out of a screen shot of my Koshka Brosca. I friended a few of you whose names I saw go past, I'm Tishina_R. Just don't tell my daughters, they'll tease me unmercifully.

I couldn't find a pic i really liked so I went with the one of my husband yelling while cutting down a tree lol I love that picture so it works for now

I don't know any female gamer's either which is why I love the fact I found this thread. If I hadn't I still would have been alone. I don't even bother talking to my friends about it. They just don't understand why I am into gaming, like they seem to think it isn't a "girl" thing to do. 
OK...I think I finally have it planned out. I have been AGONIZING (no exaggeration) on what I wanted my first inquisitor to be. But Boom's description of the dual weilding feel in gameplay finally sold me. I LOVED dual wielding in origins but HATED how fast it was in DA2. I thought about going warrior, but I wanted to stick to my canon of always playing first as a human female rogue, then going back and replaying as a mage, then an elf, then a male warrior.
SOOOOOO...here is my list:
1. Esther Trevlayan - human female duel-weilding rogue, romancing Cullen - blond, dark skinned, dark blue eyes - a little snarky, but tough. Likes to jump in and fight, and is fearless. A true noblewoman, though, and knows how to rub shoulders when she needs to. She is my character to make all the mistakes with, and to play through as myself (ie, what would I do?) - will side with the Templars, most likely, because she thinks they are the best hope for restring order. I have a feeling she will like Blackwall alot, and respect his choices (but we will see).
2. Ciara Trevlayan - human female mage (ice and rift) romancing Cullen - fair, brown hair, grey eyes - a serious woman who does not trust easily, but has a soft spot for the common man and elves. A circle mage who wants more mage rights. Her playthrough will be the basis of my fan fic that will span the whole game (of course, it is VERY Cullen focused, cause I like romance). This will be my "perfect" playthrough" - will side with mages, of course. I want Dorian to be her best friend (if that is possible)!!! I have been thinking about her character for over a year now, so I can't wait to play her!!!!!!!!
3. Suhlana - Dalish female elven archer, romancing Solas (but may just flirt with Blackwall). Her name means song (I love that!!). - red head, freckles, cute as hell! - she is funny and outgoing, proud of her people, but can be gentle at times. Will do everything in her power to ****** Vivienne off!
4. Cerwyn Trevelyan - human male warrior, romancing Dorian or Cassandra (have to think about it). Tough exterior, makes the hard calls. Does not forgive easily. Educated, sometimes snarky, but mostly just trying to get the job done.
5. Then some qunari and dwarves. But that will be like next year!

I am so ready to roll my fem Dalish Inquisitor, and just start the game. Glad to hear all the reviews for the game as top quality. Just few more days for NA and then soon the entire world.
Does anyone know who the tavern bard is? Because I've been listening to her sing at the stream and few soundtracks, and her voice is so heavenly! I wonder who it is!
