I don't mind, but I do think that everyone would need to have a similar understanding of what people felt was minor or large spoiler to avoid some confusion.

I think R2 probably had the best idea, I think it will be very hard to avoid small spoilers like Varric's nickname for Cullen being used.

 

We could always just do our best until Friday but I still think people like me need to understand the risks of coming here after NA release.

I kinda think it would be weird if Cullen still only called you Inquisitor or such after getting into a relationship with them... surname at the very least.

I also don't want a jump from "Inquisitor" straight to something like "Love" or "Dear"... I like to think there would be some familiarity to them speaking to each other.

Agreed. I used Trevelyan in same way I'd use a first name in my fanfic just so I'd get used to it. It kinda flows now, so it would not sound weird to me if Cullen used that to address my Quizzy once they're in a relationship.

Totally get what you're saying! The main thing is that everyone understands how we're handling it right up front. That should be sufficient to avoid any unfortunate surprises!

I don't know how much our Eastern hemisphere Cullenites go outside the thread, but a lot of European/Australian players are planning to use VPN to unlock the game earlier, on the 18th (or even the 17th, using a South Korean IP). If you don't want to wait until the 20th, 21st to get your paws on the game, you can follow these instructions to unlock and play it earlier:

Yep, I did this with DA2 and ME3. It's very nice to play early, especially since I plan on taking my time on customizing my Inquisitor's face.

That would be hilarious (except he might feel that's proof he can't keep the personal relationship out of the professional.) I do hope there's the classic DA moment right after the relationship gets really serious when he walks out the door of the Inquisitor's room in the early morning to run into someone or something like that and gets smirked at.

I like it when love interests call my PC "My Lady" in historical fantasy settings... I don't see every LI doing it, but if it fits that certain chivalrous personality archetype, I think it's really cute.

 

It really depends on his personality. For men like Fenris and Anders, it feels right that they'd call Hawke by name, they care very little for etiquette, or mantaining a dignified appearance. Zevran calling the Warden "amor" and "cara" in front of everyone all the time is also right for him, because he's so openly and shamelessly affectionate and just doesn't care. And then you have these more restrained men like Alistair, Sebastian and Cullen, and for those, calling the PC "My Lady" sounds appropriate and respectful, mantaining a proper distance while still being as affectionate as they can afford in public. And it makes it all the more special when they slip and call you "love" in public that one time, because they're so distressed/passionate/distracted/etc in that moment that keeping appearances is the last thing in their head. 

 

Like, it'd be impossibly cute if Cullen called the PC by Inquisitor, My Lady, Trevelyan/Lavellan all the time, and then that one time when you come back to Skyhold with a sword impaled through your guts and bleeding all over the carpet, he freaks out and calls you "love" in front of everyone. I'd pretty much die.

I dreamt that she was stealing my clothes from my closet, wearing them, and then hiding them flat under my blankets on my bed. It was a very odd dream. I also dreamt that we were all gathered together in a huge, cavernous room, with a big white screen on one side, and we were all waiting for Cullen, in the flesh, to arrive.

I don't actually have much of exceptations for Cullen as romance since I don't think BW will write him romance I'd love. I think it's going to be very romantic, full of chivalry and cute moments ugh. I think I will enjoy it although it won't be my thing. I just look more forward getting to know Cullen than actually romancing him.

 

I'm pretty much putting my hope on Dorian romance-wise. I haven't still seen anything I wouldn't like about him and his romance ^^

Speaking personally here (yeah that blackout thing is going REALLY well!)
For me, small things like Cullen's nickname, minor conversations don't really count as proper spoilers. Some of them I would have preferred to find out for myself, but they won't ruin the game for me. Obviously, your mileage may vary, but I think it would be unfair to expect excited NA fans to not be allowed to gush and squee in here, as long as the tag stuff properly.
Now bigger spoilers like the big bads identity (which I still don't know!) and detailed descriptions of romantic content? I'd hope people would keep a lid on that, at least for the next week or so. Obviously it's a public forum though, so whenever I pop in I expect the worst. Most people seem to know how to tag their spoilers here though, which is lovely but we can't account for excited new people and trolls. (Surprised we haven't had fake spoilers thrown at us yet tbh :/)

Speaking of which, could I get an invite to the spoiler free group? If anyone left can do so anyway

Indeed, I think Tues will be the witching hour. I think something for us all to consider is that the influx of new people won't be following any rules. Do we restrict our own folk nevertheless? 
 
The highlighted is exactly my concern. Increased use of the no spoiler group is a good suggestion.
 
I like this suggestion of continuing to encourage major spoilers under spoiler tags, since indeed, it will take folks some time to get to the ending. Or to see all the endings and permutations, for example. But, I'm thinking smaller spoilers, e.g., Varric's nickname for Cullen, screenshots of innocuous plot points, could be set free.
 
As to the highlighted, we've already seen an influx of lurkers with small numbers of posts, so I think we have evidence already that lots of new folk will come seeking a place to discuss. We can share our best practices about spoiler tags on the fly, but there are practical limitations there as well.

Considering not everyone well get to start playing DA:I at the same time, that seems more than fair.  I remember how ticked off I was at all the spoilers leaked about everything before DA II was even out and how I felt I had to leave the forums.  It's great to see how respectful people are being about spoilers here.  I can decided for myself how much and what information I want to see.  And let's face it, when it comes to Cullen,  I'm bad, bad, bad

My plan is working...the OH will be too busy playing Borderlands the prequel to bother watching me playing DAI....normally he sits and laughs at the BW romance scenes...and flirts. I think Femshep is his all time favourite wind up....

 

Has anyone noticed that the male flirts always seem...less creepy?
