Well, I'm straight, and I don't like begging. Or bones.

Yeah, and Cortez was gay. I think it was highly insulting for the ME team to make the two NPCs the "gay ones." It was like throwing a bone to a begging dog instead of treating one group of players like all the others.
 
The DA team is way more progressive and savvy, they just are. I can see them making the NPCs the straight ones (a.k.a. the "lesser" option) and the four companions bi and gay/lesbian. Just to say, hey, for once straight people have to be the dog begging for the bone.
 
And a part of me is like, yeah, right on! And the other part is like, CULLEN!!!!!!!!

If NPC romance is like the ME NPC romance, I'd rather forget about it. Hopefully, it's done right. :S not just a few lines of dialogue then sex then that's it. I'm really sad Cullen isn't a companion, but I'm basically just excited for the game. If Cole is in it, I think that's really cool, because I never suspected him as a companion. Mustache dude might be alright so long as he doesn't have the horrid goatee AND the quirky ugly mustache.

No kidding; believe me, I've been reining it in quite a bit lol But to be honest, I'm not mad, just depressed. I mean... erm, I was depressed. But now I've instigated Operation: Hope Springs Eternal, so it's all good!

It's okay, I was depressed weeks ago for a day because the PAX Info was pretty much as close as you could get to a NPC confirmation without being official. 

 

It's not that I think of a NPC as a lesser character (obviously not, since I've been posting here for years), just the sudden feeling of NPC = drastically less oomph than follower, iykwim?

I think it would make it more interesting lol. It would make sense considering what he has been through...so in a way it would make good story telling

Yeah, even if he's bi, I'm still deeply disappointed he's an NPC (for now). Even though I love the idea of him being his own man and not having to follow the PC around, I feel deep in my gut that the NPC romances will be "lesser" than the companion ones.

Hope. And the way Mike Laidlaw at the "Discover the Dragon Age" panel said that Cullen was going to be a romance option, along with Cassandra. If you can find a video of that panel, maybe you can see what I'm talking about. And also, they have not come out and said that he was not a companion.

 

I may be on a sinking ship, but I can't give up hope until the devs say it one way or another. It ain't over till the fat lady sings.

I don't think a mage romance with Cullen would necessarily have to have a rivalmance tone. Cullen would likely be wary initially, but I think if he came to trust the person, the romance could be more of a sweet one.

I don't think so either. Just saying if he denied my mage...it would be heart break like with Alistair all over again. So I'd rivalmance even if the option wasn't there lol
