Artemis, you need to update you graphics card's drivers. I had the same problem when I started earlier today, if you don't have the very latest drivers the game will think your card doesn't support DirectX 10 and will keep shutting down the game.

 

But it would not let me start the game without updating the driver. So I googled "NVIDIA driver" and downloaded a program that checks for needed updates. It said I needed an update so I updated and installed... "33465." Then this happened.

 

I'm so upset I'm crying I don't know what to do.

I'm so sorry, I don't know much about this kind of thing. Except RESTART.

 

Did you already try restarting?

 

I'm sure someone here can talk you through how to do this successfully.

This is the message it gave me:

I was 30 minutes in to making Auren and the game crashed. Something about DirectX???? What is that??? Please PC people, help me This is my first PC gaming experience.... I bought this PC just for DAI.

Also if u r run a nvivda pannel program in comes with all nvida cards

Hi Silver I bought it on Origin... so no CD. I do not know how to reinstall after downloading from Origin...

I have 2500 dollars on a new credit (new PC plus money from another card....) thanks to this stupid game... I cannot believe this is happening to me.

Ok to re-install open orgin right click on the game and click uninstall

 

follow this link first to see if your drives r up to date http://www.geforce.com/drivers 

next on that page  go to geforce experence tab and download it  and install it as well these might help

Artemis, other people have GOT to be having the same problems. 

 

Even if Silver can't get you through this quickly, I'm sure the solution will turn up on the other thread you mentioned.

 

I've even posted on another thread I'm hanging out on, just in case someone else has some insight.

 

We'll get this figured out.

Since it is midnight where I am, and I have to work tomorrow, and it took about an hour to install the game the first go around, I am going to try this tomorrow. I did already go to that geforce page, downloaded the little program that updates your driver, and had it update the latest driver. This was after Origin refused to let me play DAI b/c it said my driver was not updated. But after I did the update is when the game crashed.

 

Still, I will see how far I can get with medium settings.

 

Tomorrow I will do the uninstall/reinstall.

 

And we'll also see if new drivers are going to be released by NVIDIA (as more knowledgeable users have suggested.)

Naww, sug, I know you must be feeling pretty crappy at the moment. I wish I was tech-savvy enough to be able to help you out but you will get to play this game, even if it is not tonight and it will be amazing for the most part. xxx

 Good, now just take a break and let your computer run while it going all that tomorrow u might hav to restart after all that is done.

Its ok, just take a deep breath Artemis. Get some sleep I will be on the forum to tomorrow so I will see if anyone else is having the same problems. U could also go to the error and bug thread here and see if anyone as reported a way to fix it.
