I would say that Bioware has learned a lot from ME3, so I'd expect better in terms of non-follower romances. 

 

True that. I personally loved Steve and Traynor, but I do acknowledge Bioware could have done more with them. So, if Cullen is indeed an NPC (a part of me still hopes he'll be a companion) I would hope his interactions and romance have as good a quality as a companion romance. I have faith it will.

 

But if I can't romance Cullen as a mage I am going to flip a table. XD

The timeline is REALLY interesting. Not just that fact I thought we've had the same Divine since Origins, but Empress Celene has apparently been removed! So there's no longer a formal Orlesian ruler? And what are these Sun Gates? I'm assuming those are Chantry related.

Let us also take into account that this game is still PRE-ALPHA


They may tough up the characters, maybe that's why they released the shot of all of them, so they would get feedback and adjust them.

Is that Leliana w/ them? It's obvious that's Cass on the right, and then Mustachio on the left. The hooded person def looks like a female silhouette, but the armor doesn't look anything like Viv or Sera.  

 

 

 

I would assume there are female inquisition soldiers/scouts.... hopefully.

Gaspard takes Val Royeaux sometime after the events of TME, and in the middle of the events of Asunder. He was dumped near Val Chevin (which is near Val Royeaux), and Celene was dumped at the Winter Palace east of Halamshiral, so Gaspard was closer to the capital and it makes sense that he took it, plus he realized it as an option in the book when he had Celene scrambled in the wilderness. Celene still has supporters in Val Royeaux, but Gaspard has a legitimate shot at being enthroned for a few reasons. And the Sun Gates are the main city gates to Val Royeaux. They were closed during the events of Asunder, again, sometime after the events of TME.

I would be honestly surprised if, on top of gender-restrictions, they made specific classes unavailable for romance. In a 2/2/2 system, a person could be left with only one LI left. Now, choices made along the way? Yes, I think that could influence whether or not an LI stays with you, but there will be warning signs, I'd think, and you'd knowingly choose to anger someone instead of being blindsided by it.
