So for those who haven't played yet... my advice to you is to NOT go in with a predefined character. Don't even go in thinking you'll "play as yourself." The dialogue options and the way the VA delivers the lines are quite set. What I mean is, there might be a conversation where I want to point out that I want nothing to do with the Chantry or some such thing, but my only options are to fix the breach... just in varying states of emotion. I can say I want to fix the breach angrily... I can say it nobly... I can say it determinedly. But I can't say, "This isn't my problem!"
So when it comes to role-playing, it's a bit hard. But if you give that up and try to invest in the character and story, it's easier. My Auren is Auren in name only at this point... he's not the character I wanted to play. He's only mentioned being Dalish once, which is weird. The game also assumed he knew who the hell Loghain was. That, to be quite honest, ticked me off. There is no reason a reclusive Dalish would know who Loghain was.
But other than that, it's pretty fun so far. Of course mods would make it better
