No freaking kidding. I almost think this was a mistake. This "casual" difficulty setting is NOT for casual players. It's for experienced RPG players (which I really am not). I keep dying and there are even some fights in the Hinterlands (FIRST level) that I can't engage in b/c I die after the first hit.
I have been having a relatively easy time on Normal difficulty but there is something that bothers me a lot - I liked how enemies would scale in level to you in games like Skyrim so you could freely explore without having to worry about being level-gated out of certain places. I'm only level 6ish right now, and there have been moments where I've traveled to places with level 12 and up monsters out of the blue. It's not even a gradual scale - these level 12 baddies have normal level 5-6 cousins right around the corner. I can understand something like a dragon (or other special boss) being very high leveled, but it's weird that I'm encountering all these rifts with randomly higher leveled versions of the same things I was fighting earlier. Is there some plot element involved I don't know about yet? It's just annoying that I'm discovering these rifts and now I'll have to resign myself to backtracking to them once I'm higher leveled.
