That's great! I'm kind of dreading the keyboard (I have one hand that doesn't work very well) I've never used a controller on the pc before but it makes me happy to know it should be alright if I need to use one. Are the controllers just a standard thing like a mouse? or do I need some knowledge before I buy one?

You do have to install them... I had a lot of trouble getting mine to work. Had to watch a YouTube video for help.

I have a PS3 so I could probably just plug it in w the USB cord. Wonder if that will work? I'm curious about playing the game on PC w a controller. I'm going to have to try it when I get home. It honestly never occurred to me to try that.

Oh yeah wired controller might be easier.

Ah ok dokey, I get you, ty
I usually manage with the keyboard alright tbh but just reading a lot of people saying that it's pretty rough going, it's nice to know there is a workable alternative.
If I go onto a site, can I just pick a controller because it looks pretty? or are there potential compatability shenanigans to contend with?

Isn't a VAT ID a number businesses have that influences the amount of tax they have to pay on a purchase? It shouldn't be asked for on a private purchase afaik, where are you trying to purchase from? Maybe the system thinks you're a business?

I'm not sure... There are multiple options; I just went with 360 since that's what I'm used to playing with.

Yay, I've been playing for a couple of hours now - it's about 10 to 4am where I am! I'm having so much fun! The controls are clunky but nowhere near as hopeless I'd imagined from reading about it today.
I'm so trashed now, I have to go to bed and delay my first Cullen meeting of the game proper.

I took a vacation day yesterday and played all day, having picked the game up the night before at midnight launch. It was fantastic. Sadly, back at work today, but I am about 15 hours into the game, and more certain than ever that Cullen is the romance for me.
Although, seriously ALL of the characters are so amazing. Sera was a huge surprise. I didn't realize what her background was going to be (that I probably shouldn't get specific about here), but she is awesome! It was hard not to "flirt" w/the Iron Bull by asking certain questions about his culture, but I am being loyal to Cullen the whole way through this playthrough. I'm playing it like my elven mage is smitten. ![]()
Given that this is a "no spoiler" zone, can someone send me an invite to the spoiler thread? I'd like to talk about things as they happen in game. Thanks in advance!

I am use the controls from the old games and not from the newer system which sucks for the pride demon at the start of game. I realy heavily on tatics and stragey, as I always am two steps ahead of my enemies in battle. And I am always looking at ways around security for things, but that just me thinking about tactics and strategy to make things better or get around those things. Like my dad used to say "You have to sometimes think like a criminal to catch one".
I am always thinking on battle plans because of this type of game play.
I'm just used to swopping out control keys more I suspect. DAO was great fun but better in tactical view than real time.
Your father sounds like a policeman.
I pretty much believe in the reality of no battle plan survives contact with the enemy....it doesn't really apply to games that spawn the same enemies, at the same point, with the same tactics ad infinitum. Knowing enemy weaknesses is the way I play...just like chess.

You could tell that by that one qoute haha, yeah he is an retired fire marshal for my town in Texas. However, stragey also relays on knowing the strength and weakness of your enemies. The Art of War is many things to make a good plan work.
One of the several books read on tactics at Sandhurst, I like the Go Rin No Sho as well. Both have a lot to offer tactical thinking even today.
In the UK the phrase that your father used is commonly 'think like a thief to catch a thief'
