Specialization's acquired after doing quests, tied to NPC. War table operation. Apparently you get to do fetch quest to complete this.
Thanks! And interesting...hmm.

I'm just gonna say it; this game is confusing as hell!! It is not for RPG newbies like me. I feel like I have to create a bunch of charts and graphs just to figure out how to play.
DA2 and ME series were much easier! DAO, too, to some extent, although that could also be confusing.
Heck, I am no newbie to RPG's and still consider this game confusing. LolI'm just gonna say it; this game is confusing as hell!! It is not for RPG newbies like me. I feel like I have to create a bunch of charts and graphs just to figure out how to play.

we're in the same boat haha. It took a while to get used to the controls. I started the game on normal (I usually go for casual just for the heck of it first time around) and well that didn't go so well when I got into a real situation, so back to casual it is, until I get the hang of it ![]()

Awesome! I have a probably a dumb question - how do we unlock the specializations? I'm going to guess by filling an entire skill tree from one or more of the basic trees? Are specific ones tied to specific specializations, and if so which? Or am I just way off base? I want to build my mage right, so...yeah.
There is War Table Operation in which you summon 3 specialization trainers to Skyhold to train you. They give you a quest, which requires gathering some items to bring back to them, after which they will teach you.
I know who the mage trainers are.
Ugh! I'm so antsy at work today to get back to the game. I'm just like this all day:
Oh and this is spoilery to the Cullen romance so spoiler tag.
Spoiler
Even on casual I was put off by a lot of the controls. Heck this is someone, whom played the old MMORPG back in the day when I grew tired of them.we're in the same boat haha. It took a while to get used to the controls. I started the game on normal (I usually go for casual just for the heck of it first time around) and well that didn't go so well when I got into a real situation, so back to casual it is, until I get the hang of it
Wait, how is it that you get Cullen's extra quest again? Anyone with info, please PM me.
PM'd you.

We move to Spoiler Group to discuss this?
PM'd you.
Me too please, or spoiler's group. I still want to hear more about this.

lol Yeah it is pretty difficult, but I'm realizing now that I was playing the game wrong... wandering around the Hinterlands for like 8 hours encountering foes that were of a much higher level than I was. Plus I kept picking up armor that was too high for my party to use, so, yeah.
But that's the problem; it's difficult to even understand what I'm supposed to be doing. I literally thought I was supposed to finish all those quests. Then there's the crafting... I spoke to the blacksmith two times to try to understand what I'm supposed to do. I would like to make additional outfits but I can't figure out how. Same with potion-making. It is all so gosh-darned difficult!
Add that to the fact they managed to make a map and quest system that's even harder to follow than Skyrim's! LOL
Was the fact he had that a spoiler? I'll hide the post, sorry.
Err I dunno, it's just that possible spoiler but I'm not sure at all. In any case it's existence mentionned in the guide book. But I'm not sure about the context. I made a topic & someone replied but he gave no source.
Just to say that I'll be officially gone from the forum for a few days, I have to visit a base on comms lockdown, so no WIFI. See you next week when I'm on leave and plan to squee like a fangirl!
In answer to the unasked question....I locked into the romance but not far enough for more than smoochies. I aslo have to hand the Origin account back to David, as he is home now and wanting to play his game....meanie. Just got my fingers crossed that the save file doesn't have an encryption on it or I'll be starting again...next week.
Have fun, and give Cullen a hug, and a smooch for me...read you on monday unless the caca hits the fan.
I thought it impossible to make things worse than sky rim maps.
Skyrim's map is OK before it starts to get too crowded...

See, don't you just miss instruction manuals?
lol they are so doing this to make us buy the guide book.
I do appreciate the (overwhelming) amount of content though,
but still it is confusing lol
I can't find anywhere that explains the Multiplayer controls.. It is sorta the same but there are differences. If anyone knows I would be grateful

What about using "enter" to pause? I'm not sure what it does currently, but I might try resetting my keys to that since you're right about the jump.
I only reset my run keys for the moment and haven't played enough to get real in depth about the key bindings I do and don't like. But now that you mention that, I don't think I'll be a fan and will need to find a better way to pause the game.
Hmm, that's a good suggestion. I'll have to figure something out. Every fight I'm just swearing up a storm as my old strategies for managing the battle just aren't working. Maybe I need to remap the ALT key or something (unless that already does something... hmmm
)

I know. That's why I'm following the game guide walkthrough now. I'm annoyed that I don't know which quests I need to do and which I don't at any given moment.
And, yes, I know that means I prefer linear games... and, guilty as charged. ![]()
edit for ToP:

Oh! I'd like to know this too. Would you mind pming me or placing it in spoiler tags? Whichever is easiest for you. I want all the missions w Cullen I can get!!PM'd you.
