This happened to me too, quite often actually. I play on PC and sometimes I have to use the numbers on the keyboard to talk. In just a few cases in one area, the wheel wouldn't even show up in the "non-cinematic" convos.

Not spoiler-tagging this because it's been known for months: the Warden doesn't show up in the game. There's a tiny war table mission involving them if they're alive, but they don't show up in person.

 

I don't know if Cullen will mention a mage Warden (not that far into the romance yet), but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't. It has been twelve years since DAO, and he's got bigger fish to fry now than a high school crush from a decade ago.

That's true. I forget so much time has gone by.

He mentioned her in DA2 though so I wasn't sure. I'm super partial to them bc she's really the reason Cullen sparked my interest to begin with.

So I spent pretty much all yesterday in the character creator and I'm still not happy but eventually I felt I couldn't stand another second of replaying the prologue for the 100th time and so just said stuff it!  Then I spent my evening obsessively picking every herb, mining every ore and reading every codex entry in Haven and just when I thought I'd got them all, I turned around and the bloody elfroot had grown back.  That's NOT FAIR, I just finished weeding!  I think I may be playing it in a weird Sims-ish manner, where I don't actually ever leave Haven and just obsessively garden.  

 

The game is looking beautiful, it's got the most glorious environments I think I've ever seen.  I've maxed everything (and the computer hasn't broken a sweat yet, so yay for extravagant husbands )  and oh my, it is magnificent to behold.  If I could work out how to get a screenshot I'd share, it's just stunning.

 

I think Solas and Leliana both hate me!  Solas's manner after our last conversation was noticeably cool and even though I can't really tell with Leli, I'm pretty sure yelling at her at one point wouldn't have gone done very well.  I wish you could see if the advisers approve or disapprove like the companions.  It's really frustrating having to guess if my charm offensive with Cullen is getting me any closer to his pants.  

 

Anyway, I'm having a total blast and ignoring my family, staying up all night and generally being extremely irresponsible.

Solas likes me a lot (And I like him a LOT ... cripes!) and I enjoyed our conversation about the Dalish (he put Auren in his place and made him think). Cassandra ... is not a fan lol I keep losing approval with her and it just kind of amuses me.

 

Regarding graphics... my quizzy has weird play-do / pudgy hands. I'm playing on mostly medium settings with ultra on mesh. Any suggestions on something I should raise specifically to high/ultra to escape the pudgy hands?

That's great to hear, I'm glad it's all running well for you

You're allowed to be irresponsible, you've earned it. Just make sure you haven't locked the kids or hubby outside or the likes, that would be bad

Solas is awesome, I love him but it seems the feeling isn't reciprocated.    It's difficult being a hard-line Chantry supporting PC and making friends with the less conventional characters.  Still, I love a bit of conflict and drama and this at least seems guaranteed to provide it.

Ah no wonder he likes me; as a Dalish Auren is a little fearful of magic but he is shocked that humans lock their mages up. Magic is the stuff of keepers and their firsts (although yes I know some Dalish have magic but don't really practice it much). They did get into a tiff about city elves versus Dalish, and Solas snapped about being seen as a flat-ear, which I could picture Auren blushing over lol Like, eep.

Ok, I couldn't get anything that seemed blocky to me but moving textures to medium made the details much more blurry.

 

 I'd try turning up the texture options, that should increase the details on all the clothing and skin etc.  It might be a bit thirsty on your computer but it's worth a try.  Mine is set to 'Fade touched' and everything is exceptionally detailed but just try upping it bit by bit and see if it improves anything for you and then stop when you're happy because you don't want to stress out your system and have problems with the game.

Did you see a huge Griffon statue in the Redcliffe center square? I'm pretty sure that was my Warden's tomb/memorial, but I haven't seen Redcliffe on a save with a living Warden yet to be sure if the statue is still there.

Thanks, I'll try it I haven't gotten the DirectX "crash" since changing most everything to medium, but we'll see what happens if I just up texture bit by bit.

I will say that when that guard interrupted us it was absolutely hilarious. I just couldn't help but laugh for a miniute at the whole scene. did anyone else find that scene funny as well?

Not that one, but I have a save right before the first Skyhold conversation with him so I can replay that one.   

I'll probably do that for later conversations as well, kinda like I did with Fenris in DAII.

Apparently you get this conversation whether you import a female mage warden state or not, but when first entering Skyhold, you have the option to ask him about whether he's with anyone on the dialogue wheel. Your quizzy then specifically asks if he left anyone behind in Kirkwall - he says no. Then she asks if no one had caught his interest, and he replies very specifically, "Not in Kirkwall." Given the context of the question (asking about his past relationships) this leads me to believe that he doesn't want to mention the Warden by name, but that he's implying that he was once interested in someone NOT in Kirkwall and that person could very well have been the potential mage warden.

 

Eluvianus Rex brought up the fact that, canonically, all the potential wardens in DAO exist at once and just meet terrible fates if they aren't the one you selected. That means that, she was there and he was with her even if she wasn't your Warden.

Hmmm... I did get this line with a Cousland Warden import too, but I didn't this was about the Warden at all? It didn't even ocurr me he could be talking about the Warden, honestly. Because he's replying to a flirty question, but mostly because of the tone of voice Greg used (the emphasis on Kirkwall), I assumed this was about the Inquisitor - like he was saying no one caught his interest back in Kirkwall, while implying that the Inquisitor's caught his interest now. "Not in Kirkwall, but here...."

 

I suppose the only way to know what this was about is to ask him the same question with a male Inquisitor? If he's talking about the Warden he should give the same reply, if not he should answer something else... or not answer at all.

 

Eh, I'm gonna choose to interpret this line as being about the Inquisitor anyway. His crush on the mage Warden was cute for the five minutes it lasted, but hanging on to a crush over ten years later slides deep into creepy stalker obsession, and I don't like the picture of a Cullen still obsessing over Surana/Amell a decade later. It's not so much romantic as it is... scary. I prefer to go with, yeah it was a long time ago, he's over it, he falls for the Inquisitor in completely healthy terms, and their relationship has no creepy second-best undertones.
