I don't believe one side or the other generates more content for him, just different lines.

Help. I can't decide whether to recruit the mages or templars. Does one side or the other generate more lines from Cullen? thanks
Siding with the mages gives you an extra Cullen quest.

Well, I stand corrected.

ok, I feel better posting here though this maybe a bug issue..While in Haven, has anyone gone to talk to Cullen and he is like no wear to be found? He should be standing outside the temple/HQ but nope not there. My mage does run into a invisable barrier where Cullen should be standing. Varric and Lillianna have disapeared at times also.
or is he avoiding my mage? lol

I used my first
conversation guide. Imagine Cullen and my Mage Inquisitor together...
I cannot wait!
Note: I didn't realize what I was doing, but I saved the Templars. I had no intention of doing so. My being a mage and all... But, I decided not to go back and replay all that content. My next character will save the mages.

What, it does? I sided with the mages, which quest is extra? I'm playing a human archer.

Sorry I haven't checked in for a few days. Cullen has kept me very busy.
The truth is that for Obsessive Compulsive people like me, this game is torture. You have no idea how many times I have restarted this game just trying to get the CC to make the perfect inquisitor for Cullen. She had to be hot. It could be nothing less than perfect for my hot Commander. Well, I think I finally made a sexy enough human mage for him. I'm just getting ready to leave for the Hinterlands.....for the 8th time........Wish me luck.
Oh, I also took my time cause I wanted some story spoilers so I wouldn't royally screw things up on my 1st play through.

Hi guys, I'm freaking out a little. ![]()
I'm worried that my Cullen romance isn't working because I'm not getting any flirt options for him and yet there are heaps for just about every other character. I'm still only in Haven (because of the bloody HInterlands - it took me about 3 days solid to knock off the quests in that area) and I just finished the first story quest - you know the one where you have to make a big important decision which locks out an alternate route which I'm not going to spoil.
Can someone reassure me, when do you get another flirt option or new conversation options with him? I picked the initial one and then the slightly awkward one but that's all I've had and we're just on a loop with the conversation asking general questions. Is this expected or am I stuffed?
Thanks ![]()

From what I understand flirts are tied to story progression. I never flirt with anyone other than Cullen (mostly cause I don't want to) but also to make sure there is no chance of getting locked out of romancing him.

Very soon. The majority of romance will take place at Skyhold.
So don't worry, I thought I did something wrong too. It's just really spread out.

Phew, I didn't want to have to restart the game. I'm not sure I can cope with ever returning to the HInterlands
I was just worried because it just seemed to have dried up but I haven't flirted with anyone else and I took the initial options. Thanks for giving me hope. ![]()

Well, I better get back to the Hinterlands and kick some butt for my Commander.
See you guys later.

I'm going so super slow through this game, but I've had a chance to flirt with Cullen a few times (still at Haven) and he's pretty much what I expected: awkward and uncomfortable with that sort of attention. Which I TOTALLY love about him (character consistency is so very appreciated!)
But, I've decided to go ahead and flirt with Blackwall (still, very early on) because everybody here is making it sound like it's safe to do so and won't lock you out of your romance with Cullen (just simple flirting--no commitments). Blackwall is SOOOO happy to get attention from me, he's just making me blush!
I didn't really like him right at first when I recruited him, but he's growing on me really fast. I just can't help but feel like Cullen being so resistant to me is making me compare them to each other and I'm liking Blackwall more, at this point.
But, I know from you guys that Cullen lets his hair down eventually and it will be worth it. I'm glad I've been reading this thread because if I didn't know that ahead of time, I might have just ditched Cullen for Blackwall. I won't though! I will be patient with the guy who seems to only have confidence in one area of his life. It is cute to see him squirm, after all. ![]()

Please don't ditch Cullen for Blackwall. I already know how Blackwall's story and romance goes, and trust me... Cullen won't break your heart... Blackwall is scum.
I'm sorry to all the people who love Blackwall.
Isn't this kinda spoilery?? ![]()

There's a lot of unmarked spoilery stuff in the past couple pages. Let's keep all the talk of endings (even whether it was happy or not), character arcs, slides etc under spoiler tags, please.

I suppose it is. I felt the warning should be like a big yellow road sign, because I don't want to see people get hurt...
Imagine you're driving down a winding mountain path and you see a big spoiler tag on the side of the road. Should you stop to click it, or continue on your merry way?
If you clicked it, you'll save yourself. If you didn't click it, well... don't be shocked when you drive off the cliff side.
But I'll put it under spoiler tags.

Well I'm at the grand ball now, and seeing all these random nameless NPCs in glorious and outrageous dresses and ballgowns while my Quizzie is stuck in this eyesore of a manlish pantsuit is just hurting me. Still not over this. ![]()

As for other spoilers

(Sebastian stuff)
Spoiler
Agree. This is a bit confusing. I choose to believe... (on Sebastian)
Also on Hawke, Seb and Cullen, hee hee, (and a pic of my Trev and Hawke)
There are too many little spoilers here and there for me to join in for now. So off again. Just a couple of comments before I go:
-- Greg Ellis was right about the singing! Soft and stirring indeed. Goosebumps.
-- Eluvianix will appreciate this. I went back and redid a bunch of a storyline to ensure I had, erm, more time with Ser Barris in my game later on. ![]()
TTFN!!
