I am not as disappointed by the lack of froofy Orlesian skirts for female characters as I was, though, as Leliana, Josephine, and every other lady you take along with you are also wearing the red suit. It seems like it's the dress uniform for the Inquisition, so that makes sense. I was disappointed though that

I'm also assuming one of the reasons for the uniform as well is the dance with the Grand Duchess in which you lead, regardless of gender. I really like that scene, and wouldn't have expected it to.

 

I'm looking forward to romancing Dorian with my male Inquisitor in my next playthrough, in any case. Specially now that I'm almost done with the ball and

Cullen wouldn't dance with my Quizzie. I knew Dorian does dance with maleQuizz, so I'd hoped Cullen would too. Cullen you party pooper, I wanted that dance so bad!

 

Ah well. At least Dorian will deliver on my prince charming ballroom dancing dreams.

I just read part of this in the game guide. On BW the answer is yes.

In other hand I don't have comfort zone or preferred gender (/race/sexuality) nor I even do self-inserts so it's rather difficult for me to relate to those who have since I don't feel similarly at all ^^; I guess there is just lot of different players

 

Agreed! I'd love to have the imagination to play as all sorts of different characters, I started a male Hawke once, I think I got him to lvl 5 or 6 before I stopped, it just felt so odd and alien to me but that is my problem lol. I'll get brave one day and do something different.......maybe

Wow, I'm just loving the reactivity to Sebastian's different fates.

See, his letter didn't mention Alistair at all, in my game. Did you side with the mages in DA2? It might be related, since Alistair is with the mages now. I sided with the Templars then and Sebastian's letter in DAI just said he'd retaken the throne himself.

Then there's Varric's different mentions of him depending on whether you kill Anders or not... I was definitely not expecting to see Seb get so much minute attention.

I thought he mentioned Alistair, but rereading the war table quest, it just said regained his throne. Not how. Hmm. I thought I'd read that somewhere, but maybe I'm mixing fanfic and 'reality'?

anyhoo, my Hawke was pro templar as is my Trev so far. So... Does that really mean I never see Alistair? there's a war table mission letter. Sad if that's it!

I love the Stanton part, and kinda wish his name had been just "Cullen Stanton" because that sounds lovely.

 

The Rutherford part made me laugh my ass off, though. IT'S A CHEESE. Cullen's named after a stinky Orlesian cheese. I can't take him seriously with a name like that.

 

By the way, for anyone trying to avoid spoilers for his name before you find out in game, stay away from the Dragon Age wikia. His name is already there, in the first line of Cullen's bio.

I'm actually trying to end the ball for the third time now. The first time I was pushed into a boss fight with one potion left to my name and that went... poorly. Rolled back, tried another approach, thought that was going pretty well... until my very last decision gave a massive approval knockdown from a character I'm already struggling to keep good approval with in the first place. So I ragequit, had some coffee, and now I'm firing up the game again for a third attempt to get out of this ball. Damn Orlesians keep screwing me up, even when I'm not Fereldan anymore.

 

Crossing fingers that this time I'll actually get to see the ending of the ball, and if you're right, you'll hear me screeching in joy halfway across the globe.

And ohmygosh. I had goosebumps when the battle was going on and the music. Not to mention the new mark power! Then there was the feels I got swhen she was struggling through the snow, and Cass and Cullen appeared. Oh, oh, and the singing at the camp and when they start kneeling before my Quizzy.

 

Bby Cullen was so askdhafhafhafsakfhafs in those scenes.  

I am so in love with this game and all the characters.

Sera's romance definitely has a lot of laughter, I think I'm really going to enjoy that one, though I haven't heard what kind of ending you get with her. I like IB as a character a lot more than I expected to (I love his interactions with his Chargers), but much less as a romance (it isn't that I'm bothered by it, but I live with pain, so the idea of pain for fun just makes me personally go "you're kidding, right?"). Josephine is adorable, but the romance is just sweet and for me it lacks any fire, or at least the parts I've seen.

 

I am disappointed that they didn't have story reasons for Cullen's race gating, so there was no reason the extra push to make IB available to dwarves couldn't have been used for that instead. And I'm disappointed to find out why Varric was unavailable. It's not huge disappointment, I think they hit several of the romances out of the park. And at least they can't retroactively alter the female DAO dwarves and romances, so I can always fire it back up .

I have a question. I've formally started the romance with Cullen. Interruption, kiss, etc. When do I need to speak with him next? I'm starting to get personal quests, but not his yet.

Available at Skyhold. You must have spoken with Cullen about his lyrium woes and have spent time playing chest against him before the quests become available. 

 

Second quest - Happier Times

 

Available at Skyhold after Perseverance is done and in a romance with Cullen.

 

Again, I haven't done it so can't give much direction but that's the exact words from the game guide.

So...I just wanted to pop in here and say that despite my initial determination that I would save Cullen's romance for my second playthrough, he smirked once and it was all over for me.

I've only just gotten the kiss on the battlements, but every little thing about the way he is with my Inquisitor has been just perfect. The death stare when the soldier interrupts them, followed by the rough grab and kiss...*dies forever*  Also, when we had the initial conversation at Skyhold where they sort of awkwardly look everywhere but at each other while each admitting they cared what happened to the other person...I melted. And made cooing girly noises at the screen. And then redid that bit just to see it again.

 

I foresee having Alistair-level problems ever trying to romance anyone else. Well, apart from whenever I roll a male Inquisitor to romance Dorian, because that's totally happening. But apart from that...I mean, he was worth waiting all these years for. And yeah, I'm one of the people who reloaded infinitely trying to get him in bed at the Circle Tower in DA:O. No shame.  It's not just that he's hot (though he so is), I love how he's been developed as a character in this game. All that weary and slightly battered nobility with the sweetness underneath. Um, so, I'll probably come in here to squee periodically if that's cool. *fans self* All the feels, ungh.

Welcome back, jetlag is horrid you need to kick back and relax some now or alternatively drink about 8 pints of coffee, either works

 

My game is still downloading....82% complete now, that will be a whole week tomorrow *shakes head* lol but I'm having great fun reading everyone elses adventures and ofc I've spoiled myself rotten lol and I agree 100% about the lol

Even with all the spoilers I just know that I'm going to fail epicly, I'm a little nervous if I'm honest it all seems so complex, I'm not sure I'm upto the task of saving the world lol I'll find out soon enough hopefully.

I thought my female elf inquisitor was going to have trouble between picking between Cullen and Solas until I got to the first scene you have with Cullen after you get to Skyhold. I melted and I was done. I haven't even flirted with anyone else since that moment.

 

I just had the awkward guard moment with him and I am just curious how much more romantic content there is to look forward to. I don't want to rush things along too fast.

 

Regarding how to unlock Cullen's first quest: (very minor spoilers under the cut)

I did not even get the chess conversation until after I had the lyrium conversation with him, which was quickly followed by his first quest popping up the next time I spoke to him. So I really don't know what the requirements are to trigger it. Just keep asking him about Templar life, maybe?

 

After I had the lyrium conversation and was given his first quest, no other cut-scenes came up when I talked to him. I think I had to complete another side quest (I'm pretty sure I rescued the soldiers in the Fallow Mire after this) before new cut-scenes became available to me.

 

All in all, I am happy to say the Cullen romance is turning out to be everything I'd hoped it'd be and more.

is what 90% of every game in existence tells us. Playing different genders does become a bit frivolous when you've been told "play a male character whether you like it or not, or don't play at all" your whole life.

I would love to just decide one day to role a Qunari male but I'm pretty sure I couldn't complete a game with him lol.

 

I know that feel, bro There was that sad time I started a FemShep in ME1 to try and finally do that Liara romance (massive Liara fan here) and I made it maybe ten minutes into Eden Prime before restarting with a BroShep >.> And did I try something different, no, Kaidan-mance all over again 

 

I can't express how disappointed I was to hear we will have to play as humans again in ME4 Getting to play as asari would be the closest I've ever come to playing as the person I truly am. Such a missed opportunity for BW.

 

But at least the DA team came through with letting us play different races; next to asari, I feel really connected to a male elf; it feels like the "me" inside ^^

 

Getting to romance the person I like would've been icing on the cake, but I guess we can't have it all, can we!
