Just locked the second stage of his romance, and yes, I'm personally very pleased. There's lots of unique romance dialogue through his usual scenes, cute banter at the war table about your relationship, I've kinda lost count of all the cutscenes you get with him... it's a full-fledged romance bar none.
As to him being an advisor rather than a companion - I was a bit worried about this before the game was out, but now that I'm playing, I have to say I really don't feel any distance from Cullen for not being a companion. It's actually the other way around - because I'm at the war table so often, I see and hear him all the time, more often than some of the other companions. I feel like I spend more time with him (and Josie and Leliana) than with my followers. And because he's such an important character to your Inquisition he's always around in main quest cutscenes, always near you when the big stuff happens. Once you hit Skyhold, you really do not spend enough time away from Cullen to notice.
I've yet to see the ending of the game so I don't know how the romance will play out at the end, but so far I'm very pleased with it.
Yeah, I honestly felt like I spent more time with my three b!tches advisors than with the actual companions more oft than not.
does anyone else get heaps of cut scenes with Leli? I get so many and I am really starting to not like her.

How did You pick the choices though? i tried The A button, but my character just jumps.
I just moved my joystick to pick a choice like I would in a regular conversation after clicking the stick down.

She's a lot darker than I remember her especially since I'm fresh out of playing Origins for the first time, that's for sure. But in a way I guess she's had to become that way because her job calls for it, much like Cullen couldn't stay soft and unassuming forever once he realized the dangers involved with his duties, so I can't blame her that much. For those playing on 360, can You tell me Which button Should be Used to pick a choice in the interactive banter? I forgot about it (I got one in the prologue), and now I have Problem in activating the banter. The choices are greyed out. Using the Potion menu I can go over the choices, but I don't know which button should I use to pick one.
I'm on PC but using a 360 controller.
I held down the right analog stick until the greyed out dialogue appeared white. I then used my left analog stick to select the dialogue I wanted to choose.
