Ok, so this one is for people that have completed the game already:

What did you guys think of the final battle? I'll be honest, I wasn't all that impressed. It kinda felt lacking, especially in comparison to that encounter we had with Corypheus back in Haven. Maybe it's my own fault for speculating so much, but this is the sort of thing I thought we'd get from it (I'm no writer, so I'm not suggesting this is even a good alternative):

 

Corypheus successfully manages to gain access into the Fade for the last battle, resulting in a mad dash to the breach site (making good use of our allies, troops and "war assets" as we make our way up). Once you reach the breach we'd arrive to see Corypheus enter the Fade, you follow him in and the final fight takes place in/near the Black City. You defeat him but then you have to escape *either via cutscene or a timed event*. Depending on how well prepared you were (and taking into account your choices throughout the game) the decisions you made (like not completing companion quests etc) companions/advisors may die, and you yourself could end up dying/getting stuck in the Fade (or maybe willingly sacrificing yourself). *Cue a cutscene where everyone thinks you're dead, they start to mourn, and if you prepared well and/or didn't willingly sacrifice yourself you fall out of the Fade and everyone is shocked, your love interest runs over and you embrace/whatever*

 

Of course, that may be a little too similar to ME2's ending and you'd have to change/scrap the Fade sequence in the Grey Warden/Abyss quest due to the whole Hawke and Alistair/Loghain/Stroud sacrifice thing, but as I said, I'm no writer, lol... I guess I was just expecting it to be a real show down, but Corypheus did fail pretty hard in his attempts to become a god. Maybe that was the point?

You're supposed to run 3 times clockwise around the stone. I think it took me more than 3 times though. I had to look up a video to see if I was doing it wrong, but I wasn't.

 

I poked my daughter, she says you're supposed to go to the stone itself and run around it

until it summons a demon. Kill demon, get nice shiny loot, end quest (her words) She says she's not sure it matters which direction

Just to clarify - are we sure that the Warden mage's harrowing was his first? We know that he hadn't seen abominations up till that point, but I assumed it was because the apprentices who were actually approved for a Harrowing probably passed, though possibly ungracefully. If I recall correctly, codex entries in DAO explain that Irving/the higher ups pay close attention to negative personality traits to weed out potential problems early - Jowan wasn't going to be allowed to undergo the Harrowing for that reason. The two gossiping mage girls that are in the room when you wake up from your Harrowing also say that Cullen said your Harrowing was "the quickest and cleanest he'd ever seen" and that your Warden was "very talented", so I figure he'd been through a few already without incident.
 
He does says in DAI that he's "attended a few" Harrowings when asked about what Templar duties involve, so I assume they just weren't especially frequent occurrences. But yeah, I agree he's probably in his early thirties at least. Sure wish we had more concrete info about it, but I can see why they'd want to leave that to headcanon too, haha.

Hmm now that you mention it, I do remember the girls saying that, but I thought Cullen had something to say about it being his first. I may have to replay the mage origin again sometime

The gossiping girls said that he mentioned it being "the quickest, cleanest harrowing he'd ever seen" so he'd at least witnessed a few, if he wasn't there to actually strike the killing blow.

I just checked the log for my latest PT, he doesn't mention anything himself about how many he's seen. Alistair's the one who mentioned he'd only seen one, iirc.

It could be bugged, then? Or is it the correct stone (just speculating since I haven't seen it myself, I can't remember how many times I found I was working on the wrong thing in DAO)

Just finished the ball and it was lovely. Tedious until I figured out what to do, but good! To those who have finished is that about 1/2 way or 2/3rds? I plan to spend the next week exploring and doing the side quests. And I'm starting a second PT tomorrow so I can play through the mage side since I missed a Cullen quest doing it the other way apparently. I am love with this game.

I have been avoiding the forum (especially the story section) since the release of the game. But I beat the game yesterday so I am free of spoilers!! I have to say, Cullen romance arc is sooooooo sweet and realistic!! You can feel the atmosphere, love is in the air!! lol Wasn't expecting much as his romance was added in late BUT THIS! Best romance ever. It makes me hesitate to have a new playthrough romancing others though...

This is confusing to me too. But the correct stone should be the pillar right behind the landmark flag and you have to run around the pillar 3 times clockwise.

I am still trying to make it through my second playthrough where I romance Cullen. Why is it going so slow? Because I keep reverting to old saves just to see kissing cutscenes. Is that bad?

It does once you did most of them, and passed the game. Then all there will be left is resource missions.

 NOOOO! No more Hawke/Alistair/Loghain/Stroud thing!! They deserve to have a happy life! I can live with only brief mentions of the two in the future installments if they can stay happy together...

Actually, some missions on the war map would disappear once you beat the main quests.

So I've only been lurking so far (and SO GLAD to have found all you other Cullen fans!!) but this really made me chuckle... I'm sure it would say this whether I was in a romance with him or not, but the phrase "Allow me to debrief you in person when your duties permit" at the end of one of his mission reports has taken on a whooooole new meaning, haha. Now excuse me, I need to go get "debriefed"...

So, I guess I have to tag the pillars in the same order as the genealogy? I wish I'd known when I found the book that it would be important because I just skimmed it and went on. I thought it was a codex. Now, since it isn't a codex after all, I have no idea what order I'm supposed to tag the pillars in ... Is the family tree listed anywhere online? For something like that, especially with a decaying approval level, they should have made the genealogy list permanent in your codex or journal somewhere. I'll go back and look again, but I don't see it, and I can't get it back from the bookcase.

Totally unimportant.  He doesn't fix it because he moved into the Inquisitor's bedroom in the end, hehe.

On the one hand, I don't want my Hawke or Alistair to die in the Fade, but on the other hand I can't stand the possibility of my Warden never seeing Alistair again. If you keep Alistair as a Warden he disappears (likely to join her) so even if they don't manage to cure it at least they're together and can go into their calling together. I guess for now I'll have to change it to Alistair being a King and just hope that they find a cure or reunite.

I was so happy to have Stroud there, instead.  I kept thinking, "Who the heck would save Stroud before Hawke??"  Then we ran out of the Fade, with Stroud doing his epic hero stuff.  Poor Stroud, destined to be the fall-on-his-sword-so-I-don't-kill-Hawke dude.
