I really have no desire whatsoever to see Cullen or my Femquisitor in any other games, I feel the ending to this is hopeful enough for their future without needing them potentially separated or forced into "ultimate sacrifice" scenarios.  It seems like this is the final bow for his character already, given that his development really comes full circle within his romance arc.

Amen to that!

I have a real hatred for that whole forced sacrifice thing in general... you can already guess what my reaction was to the ME3 ending, LOL! My issue with it is that we're always made to believe that our protagonist isn't the developers character with whom you play as, like, for example, Lee from The Walking Dead... sure, it was sad that he died BUT he was never your character, you just played as him. However, in BioWare games the protagonist is essentially our own creation, we choose what they look like, we make decisions to craft their personality, we decide what choices they make right or wrong, and who they befriend and/or romance (within the games limitations), and they specifically tell you and heavily market it as being YOUR character.

Now, I get that once the game is over the protagonist is no longer considered yours (according to Gaider) but he/she still is in the sense that you created them and any cameos they make in future games is a direct result of whatever choices you made, so to have something like forced sacrifices pushed onto you feels like a cheap move to provoke a reaction (to me). Why not leave their fate in your hands, since they're still your character in some sense of the word. I also take some issue when your romance option is also forcibly killed/permanently separated from the protagonist in future games, granted they definitely aren't your character but they do play a part in your characters story in a big way which all came down to the choices you made.

I guess I just don't really understand why the minute the game is over our ability to have any say in what happens to our past protagonist becomes null and void to the point where sometimes you have to completely change who he/she was and make a bunch of changes to your past "canon saves" that shouldn't necessarily need to be made just to ensure that they don't die in a way that is entirely out of your control, or risk lose the love of their life in the process/whatever.

Ok, I'm done ranting now lol.

No!!!

Even the little second one?

I have to replay soooo much. :crying:

I don't think you have to take every single flirt option ever to activate a romance, even with an advisor. You just need to hit enough of them until you're given the option to talk about what's going on between the two of you. In my own experiments with flirting, I actually missed two opportunities to flirt with Josephine in Haven, and when I got to Skyhold I could still flirt with her and she was still willing to go for a relationship just the same (granted that I broke up with Cullen first, of course).

You should be fine giving that one flirt a miss. There will be opportunities for flirting with him again at Skyhold, there's one in particular that will pretty much let you know when he's ready to take your flirtation to the next level, I think the others are kinda flavor and that's the one that really triggers the romance start.

Guys, as a general courtesy to people who haven't got too far into the game yet, maybe let's take all this talk of tragic sacrifices to spoiler cuts? Even without naming names, it's really easy to guess who these things are about.

I understand what you are feeling. I just finished the game after almost 80 hours and I feelcompletly empty I have been waiting for so long for this game, watched every event bought all the books had my countdown to release. And now it just doesn't feel right. the game is good but I feel like something is missing in the main story. Just when it started to become really interesting it... just stopped. So now what? do i have to wait another 4/5 years to get the story done or do we get an expansion. It's probably just me I always want more XD. better load some Cullen romance scene to cheer me up.

That's exactly it! I kinda felt like it peaked, then it went downhill after the ball. Something feels missing from it and I can't put my finger on what. It may just feel lacking to me because half the companion content and banter didn't work for me so the character development pacing felt a bit off, but it's hard to say.

I've seen quite a few people say that it felt like something was missing to, yet none of us can figured out what.

Actually, I was talking about sacrificing our protagonists in general. It's a pet peeve.

The only banters I got were to ones with Cole and Dorian I got almost nothing out of my other companions. I'll probably wait for the patch before starting a new game

Is there an eta on when this patch is supposed to be released or is it a wait and see thing?

They said that they're working to get the PC one out as soon as possible. Not sure about the other platforms though.

As far as I know there is not any timeframe for patches at the moment. It's just: soon.

I'm kind of wondering, if you choose the Templar spec, does Cullen comment on it? Does anyone else? I picked Reaver, and

Also, I made another video, a late-game Cullen conversation so spoilers for that.

By the way, if anyone knows what the hell you're supposed to do with that one quest in the Hinterlands with the totem that says "three times around" the pillar, hand on the stone etc, I'm taking suggestions. :P Been trying to figure that one out since pretty much release day, and really have no idea what do I need to do there.

brushyourteeth finally told me that you just have to do lazy circles. It doesn't trigger if you're too close to the pillar, despite the 'let your right hand touch it' comment in the quest.

Eeek! Glad I skipped the last few pages.

Indeed, talking around big massive spoilers is still spoilery.

And folks have romance screenshots as their avatars!!! eeeekkk!!!

Hello everyone, newly converted Cullenite here :D

Didn’t intend on romancing him at first since I was playing as a dalish mage and was interested in the solas romance but could not resist pressing the romance button at the first conversation in haven. His romance was perfect, you can just see it in his face in some scenes that he absolutely adores your inquisitor and in the end he does genuinely seem happy, probably for the first time in a long time.

Anyway I just finished my first play through and while I love the game and will most likely replay it a few times I do share some of the sentiments stated here about the game feeling a little bit off. For the most part the actual core part of the story felt surprisingly empty when compared to the rest of the game. The ending in particular felt rather anti climatic but I can’t help but feel that’s because the entirety of the game to me just feels like its an exceptionally long prologue to the real story which, lets be honest here, is whatever is going on with the elves.

I’m hoping we don’t have to wait until the next game to get answers to this stuff but I’m doubtful to say the least. If BW’s DLC plans for DAI are anything like they were for previous games they’ll most likely be adding stuff that isn’t really that important from a story perspective, since all DLC is supposed to be optional. Also it seems unlikely they’ll add anything that could be seen as post ending content despite it making a lot more sense than adding even more side quests to a world that is arguably already over saturated with them.

I do wonder though if the change in engines will allow them to support the game for longer than previous titles or make it quicker for them to create new content. Frostbite 3 seems to be one of the more malleable game engines out there if it can be used to create both first person shooters and third person RPG’s so that should in theory mean the tools available to the dev’s are better than what they’ve had access to in previous games making their jobs a lot easier. There’s also the timed exclusivity thing Microsoft has for DAI DLC on the Xbone. While I despise it it does mean the dev’s can focus entirely on making DLC for one system then just port over to the others, which ultimately would mean shorter development time for DLC. I imagine the framework involved in adding new areas, new quests etc is pretty much already done so with regards to DLC it’s pretty much a case of “what stories do we want to tell?”

All I will say is that I’m pretty sure this isn’t the last we’ve seen of our inquisitors. I doubt we’ll have to create someone entirely new in the next game, it wouldn’t make much sense considering the inquisitor is arguably one of the most powerful people in all of thedas so unless some new magical calamity happens and the inquisitor can do bugger all about it or our inquisitors  kick the bucket in a DLC or expansion I can’t see them going anywhere. I’m just hoping now we don’t have to wait too long for the first story based DLC.

I don't know if Being too close is relevant. I think I was pretty close when I did it. As far as I know the direction You do the Circles influences it.

It' s not an automatic thing, it was a conversation I was offered and decided "Hmm this might be interesting" and left with "I'm sorry I even mentioned it.  I'll be a champion instead I swear!"

It was interesting listening to him try to explain how lyrium feels though.

"Inquisition's add-ons will excite fans

In case you forgot, however, BioWare has already pledged to bring forth downloadable expansions, and while talking with Microsoft's Larry Hryb in the latest podcast, the General Manager of the studio's Edmonton division, Aaryn Flynn, has confirmed that the add-ons will be quite exciting.

More specifically, Flynn believes that there are plenty of opportunities in the Dragon Age universe to tell more stories and present other things than those seen in the actual campaign.

Some of these new things will involve the Inquisition formed by the protagonist in order to save the world, so they could include new ways to use your forces, both in the actual campaign as well as in the multiplayer mode.

"It’s great for us to be able to bring out additional content for Dragon Age, even though it’s a really big game, there’s always new opportunities in the universe to tell more stories and to present interesting new things. It’s nice because this helps us get content out earlier that we normally would, so that’s exciting," he mentions, via DualShockers.

"I can’t talk about the little details of what you’re gonna do in this adventure yet, but it is pretty cool. I think people are going to appreciate it as even more to do in the Dragon Age Universe especially inside Inquisition." "
