So did anyone else go to the new inquisition web page see the "Characters" section and click on it hoping to see all the companions (and mostly Cullen) ?
Yeah
Didn't expect anything but soo disappoint.
I was like "OH!!!!" *click* "oh...." then I thought "why the hell is Morrigan there" :3

There is... some chance... that's the very first thing I did. ![]()
The only thing I really want to say about the whole "bisexual"/"player-sexual" thing is this:
While I find player-sexual to be unrealistic from a purely STORY perspective, this should have no bearing on GAMEPLAY. I say STORY, and I mean that: sexuality is part of identity. It's part of everyone's identity. To have a piece of a characters identity completely dependent on an outside force is slightly unrealistic (I mean unrealistic whether they were gay/bi/hetero from the beginning). BUT THIS IS NOT JUST A STORY. THIS IS A GAME. AND GAMES CAN TAKE LIBERTIES. I hope everyone understands what I'm trying to say.
I wholeheartedly support a Bioware game that allows "player-sexual" romances, BECAUSE I was able to play the game how I wanted. I play my characters as heterosexual, because I am heterosexual, but this should not prevent someone from playing the game as they wished to. It didn't bother me, because I was not "forced" to participate in a gay romance. Isabela was bisexual, because that was a part of her character, but the sexuality of the other characters was not pushed in my face or forced on me (whatever their sexuality might be). For me, Fenris, Anders, and Merrill were not bisexual/gay, but that doesn't invalidate another player's game where they were.
It saddens me that other people may not get to play the game as they wish, or that I may not get to romance a character I wish, because of these changes.
To keep this on topic: I got my friend to buy DA:O and DA2 and she loves them. She's been playing them nonstop. Just the other day she brought up Cullen and how she thought he was "cute" and "interesting". I got to drop the bombshell on her that he was a romance option. I could hear her cries of joy through the text message.
P.S. I'm sorry if this did not adequately make my point. This was not meant to offend anyone. I hope my opinion was clear. I have gay friends/family members/acquaintances. I approve of equality for all.
Yeah me too! And Varric was there so it made me wonder.....why isn't leliana or Cullen there? We already know about both of them from the previous games so it's intriguing they were not included.
They haven't "properly" introduced Cullen to DAI yet, while Varric has been...as for Leliana idk :3

I'm thinking of changing my Twitter handle to my BW forum handle...
I tried to make mine the same, but it was too many letters.
Hopefully everyone can figure out that TreeHuggerHannah = HannahHugsTrees ![]()
I mean that: sexuality is part of identity. It's part of everyone's identity.
Identity is fluid though and based entirely on social constructs.
So, I was examining what the lovely Cam said again:
"The romances are more complex both in type of romances going forward and how you go through that romance," Lee explained to us. "The different types of sexual orientation of the different kinds of characters around you is also more complex than in previous games. I think there's going to be a lot more realistic... realistic... you know what I mean -- anyway, more engaging and more involved than in previous games. That's definitely the goal, and we are definitely going to go out there with some characters just being one sexual orientation. And that previously wasn't the case. The real world reflects that so we're going to make a game that reflects that as well."
And I realized... he doesn't specifically that FOLLOWERS will have set sexualities. He just says "the different kinds of characters around you." Hmmmmmmmm.
Which is why a Varric romance would be epic.
I can imagine that to get a Varric romance, you'd have to first successfully seduce Bianca.
No man can resist a woman who knows how to properly handle and maintain his fearsome weap... err... that sounded a lot better in my head!

He says "we are definitely going to go out there with some characters just being one sexual orientation."
Some characters? So some characters are NOT going to be "just ... one sexual orientation."
That statement doesn't make sense if you replace "characters" with "love interests." So some love interests will have just one sexual orientation. Doesn't make sense.

I definitely see what you mean here, and I actually almost brought it up myself, but then my post was just getting way too long, and way too off topic for the Cullen thread.

well, "ilikesocks" was taken (boo) so I opted for "i_likesocks" instead.
I am pumpkin5786 no longer. Sigh. But this makes it easier, I guess.
Whenever I see your forum name, I always think, "I like socks, too!"
And that makes me happy for some odd reason.

As long as you swing it back around to everyone's favorite templar it's usually all right ![]()
I agree that characters are different from real people. I can't change my sexuality. But I can change the sexuality of the character I'm writing, and he's still the same character. It's an intriguing way of looking at things. Gets more complicated when you're dealing with an RPG, I guess. I can't help seeing it from the perspective of the writer (especially since RPGs let us "write" our own story) instead of the reader/player.

You're right, my mistake, I should remember that the rules state we must never make any innuendos in the Cullen Thread...

I can see why, but... I still recognized him right away, not even sure why. My eye just gravitated toward him. Somehow for me he still has that quintessential Cullenness, even if he looks different. ![]()

I think we all nearly missed him in the lineup because the trailer only lingered on him for a second before cutting to black.
