Oh, swoon.     He's a handsome devil.   :D

So can you put your armour back on for the end?  I turned the rotten thing off in disgust before I got to that bit.  That would be better, I've got some nice armour I'd much rather wear.  Also is it wrong to side against the Empress just because she's got an amazing outfit.  I kind of want to kill her and loot her frock.   ;)

Look, I can appreciate where they were coming from, practicalities and expense and not having to get the stupid thing to work and who knows they may even have tried and had to abandon the idea of a gorgeous dress for fQuizzy.  A uniform is a plausible explanation for fugly pantsuit display.  I just don't like it and I don't enjoy the quest because I don't like it.  Also, I feel as a consumer that I don't really have to consider the perspective of the creator.  I can just say I hate it and I feel disappointed and that's a valid complaint because my role is to purchase and enjoy.  Workable solutions aren't my problem.   ;)

Why? He/she isn't even the Inquisitor at that point.

Maybe that's part of the problem? The characters were always going on about how the Inquisitor felt more like a symbol than a person, what better way to make him/her feel like "one of us" than give them responses that are flawed or ridiculous. That was another thing I consider a missed opportunity, throughout the game people would treat her/him like some special gift from the Maker or an abomination, it would've been cool to be given more opportunities to either embrace that or show how "human" we actually are. There were a few occasions like that (Sera's quest and the Wicked Grace quest for example) but overall not enough to make much of a difference.

I feel that the dominant tones from DA2 would've been the perfect way to accept (diplo Hawke), deflect (funny Hawke), or use to your advantage (aggressive Hawke) the heaviness of the inquisitor role in Inquisition. And the way Mike Laidlaw delivered the cut prologue line makes me wish all the more that it had been kept. Its at about 18:22 in this video. http://www.twitch.tv...are/b/587357523

While that is valid, I do feel that consumers should try to see it from their perspective

So I'm just doing the Ball quests and I'm writing in to whinge - a lot, there's going to be some btching.

I hate it, not because it's not interesting or novel, I hate it because I stand, walk, move and dance like a man and I'm wearing a stupid, god awful, formal pants suit.  I hate it because I know this sort of thing would be exactly my cup of tea if I wasn't being irritated by my appearance every 2 minutes, so I feel resentful.  I detest the fact that I know male Quizzy not only looks dashing but is behaving completely in accordance with expectations.

I feel like the perspective of the fem PC wasn't valued one bit.  I don't care one little bit that making custom stuff for fem Quizzy would cost more and that climbing that trellis thing would definitely be a problem in a frock.  I just feel completely and utterly pissed off.  For the record, I don't want to dip the pretty girl at the party, it doesn't make me feel like a hero, I feel like a tool.  I don't want to spend the entire quest thinking, 'stand up straight and keep your knees together, you yokel' about my character.  Strangely enough, the fact that all other female members of the party also look horrible in their outfit doesn't make me feel better about it at all.  Cullen looks incredible  and the male Quizzy looks amazing and I want to look awesome too!

Anyway, that's my rant over.  The game is a feast and it's wonderful but if they ever send me to party again in a frigging pants suit, I'm not doing the quest.  I may even write a strongly worded note!

You've put into words all of my thoughts about this entire quest! I thought my female Inquisitor would be dressed to the nines in a fancy ballgown to fit in with the other attendees (I understand the uniform but it looked awful), and the dance portion was just awkward. My little elf girl PC dipping whatshername looked ridiculous! I feel like the whole thing was definitely designed around a male Inquisitor.

On the plus side, Cullen near enough made it worth it

Well something like outfit is still question of preference. Personally I love the uniform and I was very pleasantly suprised to see us having that. For me it makes sense cause also Leliana and others wear it, we are in official business.

I don't know. I heard about the Sera banter here. Maybe someone else can comment on whether she comments on Cullen.

Especially when he mentions that he needs the outfit taken out a little bit (cos of his bulging muscles), I was swooning so hard. I wish Cullen could be seen wearing something other than his armour in some of those Skyhold scenes... sometimes it felt a little awkward, like watching him play chess with Dorian in full armour, lol. Mind you, I guess it makes sense for his personality since he's clearly a workaholic.

I don't know, the gathering quests didn't seem too bad in DAI. Then again, I do play World of Warcraft, so... YMMV on that

Oh, I have such fond memories of standing around with 30 other people doing the same daily waiting for those damned quest mobs to respawn... And then being just too late to tag one for your own.

In other news, 17 hours into my game I'm considering rerolling my elf again, so I can make his eyes somewhat less distractingly bright and record every second of my playthrough to show off my sound bugging.

I love my archer elf though and for some reason I don't mind doing all that stuff again.

When does he say that?  I haven't got him to say anything except for 'No, I won't bloody dance with you - you pantsuit wearing freak' (Ok, so he didn't really put it that way but you know reading between the lines 'n' all - and quite frankly who can blame him, I wouldn't dance with me either!   )

I want to hear more about Cullen at the ball, it might actually get me to go back to it.   :D

PS - I'm really pleased that some people liked it, it would be depressing to think that everyone else in the world was as miserable a wretch as I am about the Quizzy's sartorial display.  You do have questionable taste though  :P  :D   - I jest! (please don't hurt me, horses for courses and all that..)

I would of at least liked some banter from Vivienne about how "atrocious" she thought the suits were. There is no way she wouldn't have burnt it after the ball.

I've read every one of your posts on the topic and I'm out of likes, but I just have to say that I was like "Hell yeah!" and "Go girl!" after reading every one.  :P

It's shameful how female gamers are still considered second-class citizens, and of course it is so insidious and prevalent and normalized that everyone defends it and makes excuses for it.

That's it, I've said my piece, and I won't bring it up again.  At least Cullen looks good enough for the two of us in these scenes.  :)
