I will be as noxious as possible to everyone in Orlais and that way they'll hate me and I can wear my armour to dance with Prince Cullen-Stanton-Rutherford-Charming after murdering Celine for having better dress sense than the PC.  

 

 

Once again the Cullen thread to the rescue.  I feel a bit (not a lot, just a teeny bit ) better about the ghastly garment, now.

About the prank quest:

I totally did the prank quest. Wouldn't have missed possible future reactions from the pranked for anything. 

Cullen's reaction is pretty funny. Also got a dialogue where he says that Sera brought him a slice of cake.

Hmm, maybe I should do it. I suppose it would end up being funny. I was just tired of humoring the girlchild.

Oh, I never had Varric say anything like that to me. It's just something I'd heard on Twitter and Tumblr that he supposedly says after the ball. Maybe during banter outside in the field or something?
