The Inquisition has three main pillars right, they have a military force lead by one particular character, you've got a secret facet with spies and assassins lead by Leliana from DAO and then you've got a political pillar, which is all about the politics, the backroom deals and the connections you have... not just through nobles but also through merchant houses and stuff like that. And the area you decide to invest in both in terms of how you decide to grow and customise your Inquisition but also the types of content you decide to engage in is all up to the player.

Whelp, there you go. More evidence for this red fists/crows/whatever idea.

And on and on it went. Another person refered to the gay community as "Others" and another person said that we have a selfish agenda. Because wanting equality is CLEARLY selfish. I'm just glad biowares Devs are way more open minded about race and sexuality.

Hello guys! I've been off making you all a thing and haven't had time to check in regularly (the thread's grown around 300 pages in the meantime. You guys are amazingly prolific posters!). After seeing the latest news, I rushed to finish said thing before Cullen's announced as the bisexual companion we all know he will be  which would make my work irrelevant. 

 

There were so many sad posts over the ten-ish pages I read, and so many people are having difficulty mustering up hope. Thankfully I've made you all some hope to replace what you've lost. Anyway, here's that thing I keep going on about. I hope you guys like it!:

Cassandra canonically shown attraction to a male character (DotS). i really doubt she won't be available to male PC. It'd be the same as shown Cullen as homosexual (though I personally don't care either way).

I don't dispute the probability that Cassandra will be available to male protagonists or the probability that Cullen will be available to female protagonists, but I would like to point out something about DotS.

 

In DotS, a male character appears to be interested in her. Initially, she rejects that attention outright, but but she later warms up enough toward the guy to bestow a platonic kiss on his cheek. Galyan's initial flirtation struck me more as an attempt to defuse a tense and potentially lethal situation with humor rather than as a sincere attempt at seduction, but that's beside the point. She did not flirt back. There's a lot of difference between "You've been a good friend (cheek kiss)" and "What are you doing after the ceremony?". I wouldn't call the behavior of either character exclusively heterosexual.

 

And I'm still a bit wistful that Galyan didn't get the third mage spot (we were promised that we'd see him again, and ML lied), but I've had a long time to get over the disappointment. Which is why I'm glad they did the companion reveals early. Most of us are already tickled pink that Cullen has such a prominent role in the game and are happily gearing up to romance his socks off, but a few are disappointed by the possibility that he won't be a full-time traveling companion. The advance notice gives everybody a chance to get past it.

 

I'm in the tickled pink camp. If it turns out that the weapons were a red herring and that there are more than 9 followers, great! It will come as a pleasant and completely unexpected surprise. But full-time adviser and potential lover is still pretty nifty!

I don't think Cullen being an NPC is a bad thing under the circumstances. He's a major player in the Inquisition, and he's important enough to be shown in the group gathering. He's not just some random side character.

 

This could even bode well for the romance - it would be more a romance of equals, not leader/subordinate, and Cullen would have his own accomplishments to take pride in, not just those shared with the Inquisitor. It seems pretty healthy for him, especially since we're talking about Cullen, who spent so much time as Meredith's pawn. Maybe it's good for them both that he won't be the Inquisitor's pawn too.

 

As of today, I'm feeling really good about this. Seeing Cullen at the table with everyone else was really what I needed to show me the positives. He was there! And he has an important role to play, even if it's not the role of follower. 

I love the way this is shaping up. I'm also just amazingly excited about all this!

Kidding. I'm really hoping nobody I know or like dies there, although I suspect there will be plenty of them, and I will be... really heartbroken, and maybe will throw my keyboard out of the window. So I probably need to buy another one to be prepared. Because I live on 15th floor, and my keyboard won't survive my rage broken heart. And of course I will collect my pure fangirl tears into a vial, and will send it to BioWare, to light their office when the power goes off. I have a feeling I will need a lot of vials for that.

I'm going to take a guess to what the Rift Mage is.
I think it will be similar to spirit magic but I also think that it's a type of magic that warps things magically or it's similar to force magic. Hell, wouldn't be surprised if it's telekinesis

I love this thread because we all try very hard to be inclusive and welcoming.

 

And I don't know if we've talked about him being a red templar, but in my opinion, it seems unlikely, given that it seems he's going to have a military leadership role in the Inquisition.

Hey, I was thinking about Cullen's pants (very important, I know!), and I recalled Alistair saying that Templars are very fashionable people. So maybe Templar fashion changed? And pants are trending this fall? And all Templars switched to pants, except the red ones, becasue those are too crazy to care?

My thoughts exactly. Templar armor can change. The Kirkwall armor is slightly different than what we saw all over Fereldan.

 

PLUS I found this picture (character card, maybe?) that I now cannot find at all. He's wearing something simlar to this picture, but with the addition of a leg piece that has the Templar ensignia. I saw it on Facebook yesterday but alas, now it is gone. D:

I am actually using the word fair, because that is how DG explained their reasoning behind the all bi in DA2. And I agree with that.

There are no other games out there that does what BW does when it comes to romance, characters and story. NONE! The romances are a huge deal for me. I adore that side of the game design. I think I need some time to get over this. Might come around once more info is out. Sorry for being all negative.

I didn't think anything of it when I first saw this picture. Totally didn't realize that bottom-middle-right is Cullen. But upon reflecting on the last supper, obviously it's him. And what do you know, that sure looks like the templar stabbity-neck sword to me.... I'm curious now!!

LOL Yes. I think general issue is that Red Templars are bad guys... and Cullen is part of the Inquisition... so it would take some 'splaining if that were the case. But since we don't know much about the Red Templar or how they formed, anything is possible.
