Oooh I've just re-discovered a good parts of Cullen's romance cutscenes in-game! 60 hours in-game and had not even visit more than 4 major areas nor halfway through the story

 

Awww, really love his personal story arc. And he's badass in all main story arc. Somehow he reminds me of Alistair, but with a great touch of more maturity & sadness.

He must've suffered so much from the Lyrium withdrawal things. Leliana asked him a few times whether he's well or not on war table banter, everytime he responds with "only a headache" or something like that. Either she's very good at noticing people or it's really obvious to everyone.

 

First time I saw his "Preserverance" perso quest, I nearly cried because knowing Bioware, it's possibly that the choice is either:

1. force him to Lyrium and he'll dump you

2. support him through withdrawal & he'll die after end of game.

Fortunately he'll not die in any case...

 

Do you think that his lyrium withdrawal is a public knowledge? People who mentionned it in-game clearly (I'm not talking about Cole's cryptic messages) is only Cassandra & Leliana.

Um, yeah, I think you might have buggered it up. Game Guide says:

"Take every opportunity to flirt with Cullen during conversations to progress the romance. However, these conversation options will not arise if you’re currently in a relationship with someone else. If you want to pursue Cullen, call off any other relationships first."

 

So if it thinks you've locked in the BW romance, despite having called it off, you may be screwed.  Because there should def be a heart option during both lyrium convos.

 

 

Uh-oh...I've only had one lyrium conversation, and I don't remember a heart option. I had the one when we first got to Skyhold.

 

But I've only flirted with Dorian. That shouldn't effect anything...

I always make one playthrough with the max angst/tragedy (usually mage or warrior), one funny-happy ending playthrough (usually with a rogue). Tragedy sometimes makes a story epic, like the Ultimate Sacrifice in DA:O. It's much more epic if the hero dies

IMO, Cullen's story has pretty much a good chance for post-game tragedy. Either he continue consuming Lyrium and will be a drooling lunatic a few decade later, dying in solitude, or he might die soon due to Lyrium withdrawal since most people who did that either die or gone mad.

 

Well, headcannon... But still, if he continues to takes Lyrium that's gonna be a sad sad life for him. If he takes Lyrium likely he'll stay single to focus everything on his works. And in a few decades, realizing that all he has is work, he become so lyrium addled & lost his mind like many of his brethrens. That's... a sentence worse than death...

 

Actually it's like Alistair's GW taint... a time bomb.

Nah, there'll be more romance cutscenes that comes with the main story development... And don't forget about that special night cutscene too.

I found a merchant (OK, a dog guarding merchant's stall) on the Canyon. There's a tier 3 Dalish medium armour schematic. I can't make it since I'm playing a Trevelyan but it's surely pricy. Around 8000-10000.

Just an update: finished my first playthrough, it took me about 90 hours. The last scene with Cullen was pretty good. Overall I think his romance was spectacular and it'll be hard to try anyone else now.

I'm halfway through and already planning my next 3 inquisitors to be either human female or elven female... And guess who they'll be romancing... Argh no I should try Cassandra's & Solas' romances too! But the Commander he... just stole my heart. Permanently.

 

Next one will be a mage Trevelyan. Should've played her first since it'll be epic doing the (Former) Templar - (Former) Circle Mage story. And apparently mages gets more lines option with Cullen responding in a heartfelt way that gives the romance another perspective.

Does anyone know whether the Inquisitor might get really deep non-romance friendship relations with any of the companions/advisor? I'm halfway through and the degree of relation between the quizzy & her inner circle is not (yet) "real friends who get your back no matter what" like Hawke's companions back then.

Well, not really "extra" lines but more like alternative lines for both Cullen & the Inquisitor. It's like having 4 choices (3 standard + 1 special mage only) & having Cullen respond differently from what I saw in youtube.

And I know I've mentioned it before but I really think Cassandra's confidence in Cullen speaks loads about his future off lyrium. He is still going in blindly since apparently not many have tried what he has, but there's just something about that faith Cassandra has in him for coming so far (he's been off lyrium for nearly a year now) that makes me believe that Cullen will achieve his goals. Cassandra's such a willful and level-headed person and it means a lot that she thinks he can do it. I trust her judgment and we all know what Cullen is capable of in terms of willpower, so I'm feeling fairly optimistic about him being able to kick lyrium completely.

 

So yeah, I think supporting his decision and allowing him to feel comfortable wanting something for himself for once is definitely the "good" outcome of the two. It was a shock to see how cold he suddenly becomes when you force him back on it.

That cracks me so much, like the advisers are squabbling over being Inquisitors pet and the fact Cullen gets all smug from being the favourite. I wish there was some banter at the war table where he is being subtle but still gloating about it.

That's funny I got Varric saying "He needs more to do, honestly. Right now, he spends all day cleaning armor with a lost puppy look on his face." I use all 3 of my advisors equally.

 

I thought it was another shout out to my current romance and was reminiscent of Hawke/Fenris banter from Merril.  

 

The icing on the cake was walking out to scout Harding and getting dialogue from her about Varric mentions copper Marigolds. (They are my new, favorite beta couple)
