I was hoping they'd be 'I don't give a damn about gender' too. I think that actually represented much better than people believe-- don't get me wrong, I love the idea behind having honest to goodness homosexual characters that would actually turn down a straight character, but at the same time I never saw them as playersexual. To me Anders was bisexual or pansexual, Isabela was bisexual or pansexaul and damn proud, Fenris was possibly demisexual, while Merril might never have thought about it before and was discovering that she could fall in love with this person regardless of their equipment.

I mean with all the different sexualities in existence, and heterosexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality being only three of them... can we really say that having just a handful of people that travel with us being available despite gender unrealistic?

Every time I lookHave we discussed the possibility of Cullen being a red templar? I don't want to go searching through 451,855 threads if we haven't, but also don't want anyone to have to repeat themselves.

I think it's highly unlikely that Cullen is red templar cause it seemed like red templars are enemies and Cullen is in your army as military leader (or so it seems now) ^^

I am actually using the word fair, because that is how DG explained their reasoning behind the all bi in DA2. And I agree with that.
There are no other games out there that does what BW does when it comes to romance, characters and story. NONE! The romances are a huge deal for me. I adore that side of the game design. I think I need some time to get over this. Might come around once more info is out. Sorry for being all negative. :)

YAY! Cullen is in the game and is a romance! YAY!

I think that Gaider might've used the word 'fair' because DA2's approach give everyone the same number of romances (with exception for bisexuals, which would get more LI regardless of the approach). I think that becuase his favourite Approach, as he said on tumblr, is the set sexualities approach with everyone getting the same number of LI (which would be 'fair' since everyone gets two LI).
I understand why people would be disappointed by this approach, but both approachs are fair in giving the same number of LI for everyone. The difference is that the DA2 one gives every LI, but I don't think that's a matter of fairness, since everyone is in the same spot. I'm probably have to create a female PC if I want to romance Sera.

I'm actually hoping he is because of this logic. And...no, it's not because I've got a thing for the reformed bad guy. Stop looking at me like that. <_<

I think it would be interesting to see him go full bad guy, then maybe he sees the err of the Red Templar ways (or something) and joins your party. It's not like we haven't taken on the reformed bad guy before.

I don't know. We'll get him early one if he's the military leader/general (which i think he is). I don't see them giving him that role if he was a RT.
I think he remained loyal to the divine.

You know, as far as the set sexualities go--in that interview w/Cam, his exact words were a bit more...open for varying situations? I mean, Cam said "Some" characters will have set sexualities. So, we don't really know how they're gonna approach the sitch. Will it be 2/2/2? Or will it be just "Some" characters.

I really wish they would take a moment and clarify their approach to the Companion/LI thing. Lol! I saw that Cam was also dropping alot of kinda spoilery info in that interview?

I haven't read it, meself. I don;t want to know abt some of the story stuff it appears he was blabbing abt.  I just wanna know abt the mechanics---and I do consider how they approach the Companions and LI's as a kinda gameplay mechanic.

And it does not spoil the story.

Hehe, it's so weird looking back at the survey pics and other concept pieces and realising that every.single.one of them is at that table. So many debate hours over who was in or not, only for them to all be in...

Makes me chuckle.....

He may be one of those people who die at the beginning of DAI

Kidding. I'm really hoping nobody I know or like dies there, although I suspect there will be plenty of them, and I will be... really heartbroken, and maybe will throw my keyboard out of the window. So I probably need to buy another one to be prepared. Because I live on 15th floor, and my keyboard won't survive my rage broken heart. And of course I will collect my pure fangirl tears into a vial, and will send it to BioWare, to light their office when the power goes off. I have a feeling I will need a lot of vials for that.

Galadriel... Galagraphia... They're the same! :o  hehehehe.... ;)

I dunno, I'm kind of on the fence here. I'd like to think that he stayed loyal to the Divine but...perspective, right? You can be lawful your entire life and suddenly your concept of lawful changes.

OH GOSH, me too. C'mon, writer people, don't let us down!

The 'open' part might refer to the bisexual characters, who will be present.
Or do you think they might go for four bisexual and two straight/homosexual LI?

yeah, i don't think it's unfair per se just cuz it kinda sucks for everybody. unless you're Bi, I guess.

"Hey, look! I can close sh!t with my hand!" - Me if I was the Inquisitor.

I'd be exactly the same, leading to my Inquisitor hopping around like a madman, with one boot off.

Cassandra: Inquisitor, what in the name of Andraste are you doing?

Inquisitor: Well... you know I can close things with my hand, right? So... what happens if I try to use my feet?

*Cue Cassandra's seventh Facepalm of the day*

What? We've had Renegade, Paragon and Sarcastic characters... I support a Flippin' Barmy Inquisitor (FBI) for DAI!

So... have I missed something? Have the LI's orientations been confirmed? I thought DG said they were going to do what they did in DA2. I apologize for asking but I've been skimming this thread for the few minutes I have to check in and I can't find the catalyst for this current conversation.

I don't think he'll be loyal because of his ideals, but because it makes no sense that they appoint a RT as the general of the inquisiton, at least in my opinion. Not to mention the problem with red lyrium assumption.

There was something I caught in that interview w/Darrah yesterday. He said something abt how we have to build up the inquisition to actually get ppl/factions on our side.

He said the Templars--if we want tthem on our side--they aren't gonna give us any time if we're weak. So, we would have to make the inquisition stronger in order to "force that meeting" w/the Templars.

That made me wonder if Cullen is mixed in w/that, and would that mean we would have to wait a long time to even get Cullen? How long does it take to build up our Inquisition so that the--I'm assuming "Not Crazy"-- Templars will show sum respect?

Honestly, Elder King, I have nooo idea. I'm just not so certain that from Cam's interview that that necessarily means BW is going 2/2/2 with it.

Which is why I would love it if they gave us the details on how--specifically--they want to work it.

LOL Yeah. So far the only thing that's been wrong is 10 companions. Which, to be fair, is the only thing DG specifically pointed out as being wrong.

In an interview, Cam confirmed the companions will have fixed sexualities, so no player sexual this round. Needless to say... BSN is burning down around us.  ^_^  (edit: And, no, the individual sexualities have not been confirmed. Just fear and paranoia so far.)

I can't actually believe I'm saying this, but....

could we actually not make the value or lack of value of Bioware's decision a topic here? I get that it's a big deal, but there's a thread for that. I sure have been vocal about it in the past too, but it's decided now and it's bound to only be a topic that divides. Strong opinions about it are only bound to make others uncomfortable.

FWIW I don't think there's anyone in here that doesn't hope everyone gets their Cullen, but the writers will write what suits them and we'll either stay fans or we won't.

Gay, straight, or bi, I intend to love Cullen as long as he stays interesting (and non-sociopathic). I get being bummed out (if there's even a reason, which we can't know yet) but I hope everyone can continue to enjoy him regardless.

Being angry in this space if you're against the decision, or exulting over it if it's what you wanted, is only going to make others uncomfortable.

Also, good morning. Isn't Cullen great? :)

I don't think Cullen will be part of the templars that left the Chantry at this point. I think the three pillars of the Inquisition will be lead by people loyal/allied to the Chantry. Leliana fits it, SG might (we know nothing of her), and Cullen can if he remained loyal.
Plus, I think we'll get those three very early, expecially because they are likely related to the three types of keeps we can build.

Ah. Thanks Lorien.

While I... agree that having distinct sexualities is very realisitic... I was just... hoping to romance Cullen as both a female and male. Same for Sera and Scribbles (if they're even LIs). Still... Exciting! :D

Psssh, at this point I'm inclined to believe we may indeed have 10 companions. That survey was soo spot on, meanwhile they're trying to tell us, "Naw, naw. Pay no attn to the Survey behind the Curtain" and all that.

Yeah, whatever, BW.
