Does anyone know how to unlock Blackwall, Cole, Vivienne and Varric's quest? I don't know if they're just approval based. Wall had more approval then Sera when I got her quest.

 

Cole, Blackwall and Varric's quests are available after Here lies the abyss. Vivienne's is either based on approval or you can get it after Wicked Eyes & Wicked Hearts.

Wow, I finished my game and of course Cullen's romance was so sweet and lovely.  I can't help but think though a lot of his appeal was due to Greg Ellis's voice acting.  He did a mighty fine job with Cullen.  There wasn't much actual story there, it was a case of boy meets girl, girl likes boy and love happens.  I think in the context of the wider story it worked though because everywhere else was doom and drama, but if you take it in isolation from Cullen's back story and the game plot it's a little bland.

Aside from my obvious affection for our favourite Knight-Captain-in-shining-armour, my newest obsession is Solas.  He's amazing!  I love his enigmatic nature and of course there's the appeal of having your heart kicked out through your chest.  I didn't think I would ever be a Solas-mancer but I've come right around and I think his story is the bees knees of the game.  I'm Dalish-ing up and placing tissues next to the keyboard.  I think I just love my PC being miserable and heartbroken, it was the same thing with Alistair.  I never loved him more than after he chucked me for the throne.

I hate unhappy endings (even when there's a little hope that it isn't permanent); I only let Alistair break up with me when I wanted to move my Warden on to someone else anyway (less guilt letting him do it, after all), and I only played through the US once (on the same Warden, actually). It's only the fact Solas is so fascinating (and steamy, that fade kiss, wow!) that's got me interested in playing through at least once with him.

I had the desk romance scene with Cullen earlier. ~swoons~

 

I just can't even. It was amazing. And I agree with the idea that they got busy everywhere else first, then went up the ladder. It's so ridiculously sweet. Unfortunately it's started me on a downward spiral of wanting to see all of the romances. And I just don't have time until finals are over.

 

And I have to choose between which game to finish first. My Solas-romancing Lavellan, or my Cullen-romancing Trevelyan.

 

I've also heard rumors of companions commenting on your relationship with Cullen. But when? I've had Dorian's comment about strapping young templars, and Sera's "Cully-wully. Lots of men under him, needs a woman over him, because positions." And Leliana's comment at the war table about how excited Cullen is to see you.

 

I'm most curious when Varric calls you "Mrs.Rutherford", because no one seems to have gotten that line, or know when/where it happens.

 

It sounds crazy, but I still want more romance stuff. I feel greedy about it though, because I'm a huge Solas fan and he gets like no scenes. In comparison, Cullen gets a ton. I have so many romance scene saves for Cullen that it would probably take me an hour to rewatch all of them.

I am actually very tempted in romancing Solas just to see whether there are an element of Hahren-Da'len or something like that. From what I see it seems to be Solas guiding the younger Dalish Inquisitor. I might try later.

 

Cullen's story actually putting a balance into the equation. There's already several major treason/tear-jerkers around other romances, some normal ones on both Advisors are very welcomed. For once, I really like the healthy relationship between F!quisitor-Cullen or Inquisitor-Josie.

 

For me Cullen's appeal is due to both his character & his look & his voice (OK I admit, Greg's really nail it). His character had been around since DA:O and we see major development of him. We watch "The Making of Cullen" since the beginning and he admits all his flaws very honestly. We see him at both his most badass moments and also at his worst moments. It's the aspect of the "man behind the soldier" that really capture me. It feels like my Inquisitor get a glimpse of his soul.

Each to their own! I thought the exact opposite. I've been rooting for Cullen since my DA:O mage origin story and I thought his arc in Inquisition was perfect. I was totally satisfied - thank you Bioware! Quizzy doesn't know his past, but knows enough that she can tell he's shredded inside. They have so much going on that there's no time for the "dating scene." You can really feel his disbelief in finding someone in the most unlikely of places...and with a little reading between the lines, you can only imagine how their professional relationship moved onto something more. I mean, he's pretty much your #2 (at least to me, he seemed to be the most important out of the three advisers) so you spend so much time together. 

 

I absolutely love that his romance arc was merged into some of the quests and storyline, especially if you go pro-mage. Not that adding more wouldn't have been nice...I just think that they fleshed out his story just enough.

Ok, what do you need to do?  Check your journal.  If you are at the bit I think you are at, then you basically follow the loot trail until the bell rings when you hot foot it back to the ball at which point there will be a cutscene which tells you what your next goal is.  There is loot to collect, secret doors to open and hallas to find and then open more doors.  Also a bit later I can tell you how to solve the annoying jump puzzle to get the book and the halla from the kitchen beam if you are stuck.

 

Don't worry too much about the approval thing.  You can jump back down to the party at anytime to stop the clock and also quite frankly if everyone hates you, you can change back into your armour for the final scenes and avoid the horrible pantsuit in your romancey bits.

Wasn't there also some information to find in the library? What is your quest tracker telling you?
