I don't think Cullen will be part of the templars that left the Chantry at this point. I think the three pillars of the Inquisition will be lead by people loyal/allied to the Chantry. Leliana fits it, SG might (we know nothing of her), and Cullen can if he remained loyal.
Plus, I think we'll get those three very early, expecially because they are likely related to the three types of keeps we can build.

I hope we get them early. When it comes to getting companions when you want/need them, the open world idea kind of worries me. What if you go wandering into the wrong place with the wrong companions obtained?!

Hmm, I was thinking more that we would be trying to get the regular Templars on our side. Not the ones that left the Chantry. I'm assuming there are a good amount, at least, of Templars that stayed loyal. And that those were the ones we would want.

Being angry in this space if you're against the decision, or exulting over it if it's what you wanted, is only going to make others uncomfortable.

Also, good morning. Isn't Cullen great? :)

So far, no one's being angry or exultant over it. I just asked because my time to be on here is minimal. In fact I have to go now. Stoopid werk...

Ah. Thanks Lorien.

While I... agree that having distinct sexualities is very realisitic... I was just... hoping to romance Cullen as both a female and male. Same for Sera and Scribbles (if they're even LIs). Still... Exciting! :D

I actually think Cullen and SG will be bi and Sera lesbian.

I hope we get them early. When it comes to getting companions when you want/need them, the open world idea kind of worries me. What if you go wandering into the wrong place with the wrong companions obtained?!

I don't think you can travel to all locations from the start. There'll be a number you can travel with, and after you build enough power for the Inquisition and follow the main plot, it'll open other areas.

The problem is that siding with the templars will be optional/based on player choices, and Cullen's role doesn't seem to be optional/based on player choices.

Exactly, demons are the only ones capable of physically traversing the Veil, although it's more difficult and that's why they prefer to hitch a lift across. She's got a buttload of reasons to be suspicious of this guy walking out of ground zero with not a scratch on them.

I suspect most of the Chantry folk, like Cullen and Leliana will have a similar reaction.

You know, I am actually thinking that we are a demon or possessed.  That tentacle head demon thing could be what's possessing us.  For some unknown reason we are pulled into the fade through something happening at this summit, maybe even die in there and this demon revives us like Wynne's spirit.

ah, I see what you mean. That gives me hope.

Speaking of, I wonder if sum of these companions will be "missable". Like Sten or Leli or Isabela or Fenris. If you don't do certain quests, etc.

LOL Yeah. So far the only thing that's been wrong is 10 companions. Which, to be fair, is the only thing DG specifically pointed out as being wrong.

I can just see the Devs reading all the speculation and getting a good laugh out of it. Well played by them and pretty amazing in my book that no-one who had become attached to a concept character has been disappointed with non-inclusion, (unless of course you're disappointed that Cullen isn't a companion, which I understand). I really wasn't expecting to see it pan out like this at all.

There was something I caught in that interview w/Darrah yesterday. He said something abt how we have to build up the inquisition to actually get ppl/factions on our side.

He said the Templars--if we want tthem on our side--they aren't gonna give us any time if we're weak. So, we would have to make the inquisition stronger in order to "force that meeting" w/the Templars.

That made me wonder if Cullen is mixed in w/that, and would that mean we would have to wait a long time to even get Cullen? How long does it take to build up our Inquisition so that the--I'm assuming "Not Crazy"-- Templars will show sum respect?

Oh no, I'm afraid I will make a lot of stupid decisions in haste to get to Cullen. Don't do this to me, BioWare!

(And this why I should stay as far away from spoilers as possible!)

I kind of thought that Cullen is the one that helps us to build up our armies, so... He'll be there from almost the beginning.

Psssh, at this point I'm inclined to believe we may indeed have 10 companions. That survey was soo spot on, meanwhile they're trying to tell us, "Naw, naw. Pay no attn to the Survey behind the Curtain" and all that.

Yeah, whatever, BW.

Hard to say. They have reiterated the number being nine.

Yeah, this is why I'm becoming more and confident that Cullen has left the Templar Order completely. Whether to forge his own psuedo-templars or not, well, that's for the game to tell me. Either way, it certainly seems to be doing wonders for his sleeping schedule.

No, I am indeed falling more and more in like with Cullen. I didn't think that was possible. I am giddy at the prospect of him being his own independent character. Oh, NPC romance, please don't me down!!

I'm loving the non-Cullenites (or, perhaps, non-Cullen-thread-visitors) coming to stand up for Cullen and his inclusion.

I'd hope so because I quite like the idea of missing something the first time around and then finally getting that content in another playthrough. But if they're all leaders of some sort, I'm not sure if that'll be possible. Perhaps Cole and Sera will the dodgy ones?

Another hate thread? Good grief. I thought the sexualities controversy distraction would hold us over for longer than that.

I do hope he'll still really stick up for his beliefs though. It'd really grate on me if he doesn't.

They confirmed no DLC companions in DAI. If they did do it, it'd have to be like the MotA DLC with Tallis, because of how integrated the companions are into the story.

If there is a tenth companion, I'd bet it's like Alistair/Loghain in DAO. Or perhaps our advisors can come along once in awhile. Er, perhaps not Scribbles. Escort missions, hmm.

That's what I'm hoping for, that sometimes our advisors can go on missions with us.

It'd be nice if there was some quest included where you could take your advisor along. Like one small quest for Cullen, Leliana and Scribbles all. Maybe something friendship/romance related? Like if they like you enough they could ask you to go somewhere and find someone/something with them? That'd be nice add ^^

Maybe they could do a DLC where we go on a mission with our LI's.  Oh, that's so fanservicey, but I want it.
