Hmm not so interested in gold. Just, if I never have to establish a landmark or close a rift again I'll be a happy gamer. That aspect of the game is so incredibly tedious.

I'd just like to level everyone up so I can play through the story stuff straight through.

Oh and max everyone's approval.

Yeah I just have to say that the level gates in Inquisition have been really annoying for me. Part of the reason I stopped playing MMOs was that the need to grind for levels to be able to access new areas and quests was something I could no longer tolerate. It breaks from the immersion of the game.

That said, I admit I can appreciate that grinding in Inquisition makes sense because your organization needs more influence to achieve more of its goals across the continent. It just didn't make sense to me that some rifts would randomly spew out stronger versions of the same enemy than others, story-wise. I can understand dragons having set levels because they're superbosses, but those random rifts seemed needlessly annoying for the sake of being annoying.

I'm also very disappointed to hear that apparently NPCs won't interact with you anymore after the main story is finished? No more Cullen kisses, etc? I was hyped to hear that we'd be allowed to continue exploring the world after the main storyline but I feel like the only reason I'd keep playing was to be able to keep interacting with the characters somewhat and I'm surprised things would just end like that when they knew they were implementing endgame content. Even though Skyrim spouses ended up saying the exact same things for eternity at least we could still interact with them, etc. DLC content, I hope?

I took out my first dragon over the weekend (the Hivernal) and at level 18 on normal it wasn't that bad.  Iron Bull had a lot of fun during the fight and with Dorian's fire spells and my KE spec everyone was alive and well at the end (I did use all my potions and Resurgence once).  I was amused to see my map right after the fight; apparently I used Fade Step a lot. :D

I hadn't realized it was one of the higher level dragons; guess I should go finish off the rest before I push on with the main quest line and then end game to finally finish my first play through.

Ha, funny, I was just thinking that after I finish the game I might go back to Skyrim  I was having so much fun with it; was just beginning to build my house and also was in the middle of the thieves' guild quest, after which I intend to make Brynjolf mine

That's why I think DAI needs a few years before it is really playable for me; need to wait for the modders like Adela and Renmiri (sp? hehe sorry) to work their magic. At present, DAI is too "game-y"; I think the reason I played DA2 so much is because I could rocket through it, from cut scene to cut scene, and of course I loved the romances so much and just felt so connected to the characters. I feel like I barely know the people in DAI, and when I think of having to grind for another 2-3 hours in some desert or forest I just sigh and try to think if I'd rather watch something on TV or perhaps read a book lol

Also when playing as an elf in Thedas you expect to be called knife-ear, be mistaken for a servant, or experience some kind of racism in general. I was only mistaken for a servant once, at the very beginning, by the quartermaster.

It's a real shame and a missed opportunity; I appreciate GREATLY the cosmetic reasons for playing an elf (it is very important to me) but there are virtually no story reasons.

After the beginning everyone knows your now the Inquisitor, so it would be stupid for them to make racist remarks to someone who can save them

So as I was leaving the house for work this morning, I was thinking about my reaction to the game now that I'm nearly done with it, and trying to decide what I would rate it... and I think I've come down to 7.5/10.

It is very pretty, has race and gender selection, LGB romance options, fairly fun fighting, a decent story, well-written characters, SUPERB voice acting, and I have enjoyed Bull's romance.

However, it's a tedious grinder, horrible CC, has no replayability for me (because of romance restrictions), rarely recognizes my race selection, crafting is tedious and difficult, the story drags, and my main character is a bit lacking in personality.

Just wondering what you all would give it? :)

I'm still not finished with my first playthrough, but I'm kind of hovering about where you are. It's the "open world but some of it's closed" concept for this game, I think. A lot of it is a grind just to get Power to get to the next main story point. I'm not going to say that I necessarily prefer a more linear progression, but I'm really just doing enough to get to the next point. If the Inquisitor has enough authority to determine the next Orlesian ruler, shouldn't she also have enough "power" to just go to Adamant? Or vice versa? It's a little odd. I'm making myself known but just not quite well enough known yet. I guess?

I know part of it is just getting used to what to expect in the game and how to do a playthrough, because I remember my first DA2 playthrough completely forgetting why I was doing all those quests in the first act. I'm sure my opinion will go higher and I already see opportunities for replayability, but right now, in some ways, I'm just kind of bored. I mean, I have camps all over Thedas but I'm the one who has to pick all the elfroot and find all the quarries? I'm the Inquisitor. I really do have people who can do that for me.

Cheers guys, I'll keep looking! I appear to have missed one of those devices for spotting shards too, cos i collected all the shards I had marked, only to find i don't have enough to open all the doors! Argh!

You need all shards from ALL areas. Very annoying. :/

Random guy I encounter in the desert does not know I'm the inquisitor  In fact whenever that did happen it would tick me off. Like when I encountered that p!ss poor excuse for a Dalish clan (which had like all of five members LOL) and they're like, ah, the Herald! Um, really? How do you even know?! Does Harding go out proselytizing before every mission?

What can I say, this game is really not gelling with me. I really dislike being Mr. Generic Hero; it's very Warden-esque. I'd prefer a character with a personality, like Shepard or Hawke.

Yeah, this  I am at the point where I don't pick any herb except elfroot because I need it for my regeneration potions (stupid game with no healing, ON CASUAL, geez). The grinding is just mind-numbing for me and I feel the game puts the story on the backburner. This is frigging BioWare; story should be front and center! BUT I admit this is just a personal thing and I can understand someone who is into MMOs and what not would give this a 10/10. I guess that is the audience they were going for, but it is kind of weird.

And yeah I also agree that first playthroughs are a mess; I'd probably have less to complain about on subsequent playthroughs

The Inquisitor does have personality, more than Shepard tbh

I'd give it an 8.5. My 1.5 mark down goes to the atrocious PC controls and UI, the death of my beloved Tactics, the gating of romance content to faction choices, which is asinine writing and I can't believe anyone thought was a good idea, and finally-

(endgame spoilers)

Spoiler

A patch that fixes the PC controls might knock it up to 9 for me, because I absolutely love everything else about the game; but unfortunately it'll never be a 9.5 or 10 to me because of those two glaring writing mess-ups.

Still, I love the game and will be playing and replaying it for a long time still. It does have high replayability for me because I still wanna finish playthroughs with wholy different classes, races, genders, voices, romances, DAO/DA2 imports etc, so that will keep with it for a while. Could've been better, it's not my favorite, but it's a great game still.

For me it was the Hinterlands, on the rock formation near that Keep in the bottom left corner. I walked up and down that entire f*cking mountain range... Only to finally find a simple path.

I had a Circle Bethany and Templar-siding Hawke import, and Hawke doesn't say a single word about Cullen - neither does Cullen say anything about Hawke. I've moped about that here in the thread before, but it's kinda bollocks how Cullen doesn't even acknowlege Hawke's presence in Skyhold at all, considering they knew each other for years, interfered in each other's business, he did personally take Bethany to the Circle to avoid a scene, personally wrote letters about private affairs to Hawke, they fought together against Meredith regardless of who Hawke sided with... and particularly in the case of Templar-siding Hawkes, worked together as Viscountess and Knight-Commander to rebuild the city for at least a couple of years before they both left.

It really would've been nice to get some commentary, at least a throaway line from him about Hawke since, the way my import worked out, Hawke was vastly closer and more personally relevant to Cullen's life in the long term than the Warden he only met once in passing. But alas, it can't be helped now. It was very gracious of him to remember my Warden saved his life, in any case, even if they only met once and he was in such a state back then.

At least in my headcanon Hawke and Cullen definitely met up during the time she stayed in Skyhold, though. Sat down for a drink, catch up on the news, how's Bethany, how's Sebastian, etc. I imagine him telling her about quitting lyrium, and Hawke being concerned, but also very glad for him. My Hawke will always consider him a good friend, and she made sure to tell him the Inquisition is in good hands with him and his new lady friend in charge, if only to watch him stammer and sputter all embarrassed and awkward again. ;)

Yeah, I think here's where that Keep tile could've come in handy, allowing you to set the tone with which he mentions Hawke.

The fact that they just deleted the tile without DAI repercussions was already an indication that there was no interaction. More's the pity.

That happened to me as well! There were sooo many shards that I had to do some hardcore parkour, especially in the Exalted Plains.

IKR! And just as I would say to myself, "NO MORE SHARDS! I'm fine with just the Fire door..." I'd find myself shimmying up some 90degree slope to pick up the next one.

Out of 10, I'd give it an 8 or 8.5 as it is right now. If the bugs and PC controls are taken care of, that score would be a 9. Thankfully, I've not run into any game-breaking bugs or excessive amounts of crashing like other players. I've had far more crashes while playing DAO (Denerim memory leak *hiss*).

I can understand why people would find the side quests repetitive and/or tedious, though. As someone that has played both EverQuest and EverQuest II over the past 11+ years, I'm very used to fetch quests and grinding, so it's no big deal for me. I have six characters in EQ2 alone, so I've done plenty of grinding, both for adventuring and tradeskill levels (the current level caps are 100). Still, it's not always fun.

I really enjoyed the exploration. Oddly enough, I could never get into playing Skyrim, despite all the exploration in that game as well. I tried - really tried. Even have several GB worth of mods to make things more interesting, but Skyrim still just doesn't hold my attention like DAI has. I always feel lonely and lost in Skyrim, and often find myself missing the BioWare-style companions and banter.

Love the game overall, but not a perfect 10/10 for me (no game is) due to various issues and missed opportunities.

OK. This is driving me insane.

I read (some where) that completing Adamant  gives you sexy time with Cullen. First play through this happened just fine. Second play through, I completed Adamant and sexy time does not trigger.

Anyone know when it DOES trigger?
