You know I cannot help it but, every time I play the Cullen romance, the song, "I can't stop loving you" from Van Halen plays in my head. Too bad I am not good at making videos I would so make one with this song playing over the scenes..LOL!

This made my mind go rabbit hole-ish.
It might be a Ferelden thing, but I was always under the impression that if my Cousland married down (like, say, married Ser Gilmore
) that she would still share in the benefits of a noble rank. Yes, it's better to marry up, but I'm not sure. As for the Free Marches, would it matter? If you're a noble in the Marches and you marry Cullen, I'd think you'd have enough leeway to retain your status and for Cullen to adopt your title, given the city-state aspect of the Free Marches.
I think it kind of depends upon the individual headcanon, especially since I've only a vague idea of how the Free Marches actually operates in terms of individual city-states. It'd stand to reason that Cullen would inherit the title through marriage of a Trevelyan, but that's assuming that said Trevelyan would want to return to the Free Marches in the first place.
In the codex is states that the Trevelyan family is very traditional and that you're the youngest child, and as such (if playing a warrior or a rogue) you're expected to join the Chantry at some point. Which kind of tells me that you're at least the third child, and that the family already has the 'heir and the spare' and you're more or less just kind of there in the background somewhere. So while you would in technicality have a title, who really knows for how long if a Trevelyan's family enforced the whole 'third kid goes to the Chantry' deal that seems to be a thing in the Free Marches.
That however, is where everything I think starts to go into headcanon territory so it's a lot harder to pinpoint exactly how it would work out. ![]()

I think you just see him say
Spoilerif you romance IB. Makes me wonder if our cutie is a bit of a playah, since if you DO romance him you find out thatSpoiler
That's not what he said at all.
He says it's been a long time since he'd wanted anyone in his life (due to all the head mess). This is also reiterated if you make him take lyrium, during which he dumps you and reasons that he'd hoped to overcome his past trauma etc, but all the time he's like this it's best that he stays alone. While he may or may not have had a few women in the past, according to his writer it was purposely never clarified as to whether or not he was a virgin because they wanted to leave it down to interpretation. I think it's safe to assume that Cullen wasn't "rollin' in b!tches" given that he's spent the past 10+ years working his arse off in the Order and dealing with all Meredith's crap, hell it was difficult enough to convince him to stay and play Wicked Grace so he's not the most social creature, plus his reaction to all those people flirting with him at the Winter Palace ball clearly shows that he isn't used to it.
Either way, he's definitely not a "playah"... he'd be better at charming the Inquisitor into the sack if that was the case!

It could be that becoming Inquisitor allows you to reclaim your lands/title? I suppose technically Inquisitor is a more powerful position by the time the game ends than House Trevelyan anyway.
Well, yeah, this too. How much does the noble title actually mean?

I prefer to head canon that he's not a virgin, though he definitely seems more the relationship guy type and not really the one night stand type. He could have been different when he first got to Kirkwall, but you don't see him then. The whole sweeping papers off the desk bit and taking the Inquisitor right there does seem more like a man who's much more confident sexually. I agree about the "rollin' in b!tches" thing, but his actions don't really lead me to think that it was his first time.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking, given how the Inquisition itself keeps sorta moving the Trevelyans around the chess board like so many pieces. I'd rather be Consort to the Inquisitor and Commander of her armies than a minor third/fourth/fifth rank noble in the Marches, anyway.
Can you imagine him in noble life back home? LOL He can't imagine why Josephine enjoys talking to nobles all day long.

I just can't picture someone who is 30 being a virgin >.< Unless of course the person is asexual or deals with social anxiety disorder. I don't think Cullen is either of those.

I think we all know in this day and age that sexuality doesn't necessarily mean that you want/need someone in your life. You can be physical and still be "alone." The writers left it open to our personal interpretation and that's what I got, especially after seeing his comment with the IB romance. I wouldn't say that he was "rollin' in bitches," but I sure don't think he was virginal. Shy with someone he thinks he loves? Yep, because he admits he's never felt that way about someone. Confident when it comes to the down n' dirty? Sure seems that way...hello hot desk scene.
He may have spent the last 10 years working his arse off in Kirkwall, but that doesn't mean he wasn't relieving physical pressures during that time. If I remember DA:2 correctly, he doesn't say he's never been to the Blooming Rose...just that he can't talk to the women there.

I disagree. The way Cullen acts, it seems as if he is in fact a virgin. A man can be confident in his sexuality and be a virgin. Ran into those a few times in my life.
Considering how dedicated Cullen is to his work it sounds like being in a relationship would be nice for him but not something he is actively seeking.
His mannerism speak well of him being a virgin. The way he acted in DA2 about women and you in DAI. He makes mention in DA2, “I tried speaking to the uh, ladies there but none of them would speak to me for fear of shutting the place done for serving our recruits.” In DAI he says, “I’m not very good at this.”
Yes, he says, “It’s been a long time since I wanted anyone in my life.” This does not mean he was with someone before, it’s possible he was interested in being with someone, such as the (your) mage in the DAO game.
I maybe be wrong here, who knows. Darn it, we need an answer. Anyone willing to go to Twitter and ask please. LOL!

I'd presume he's likely had at least one or two in his time. That being said I've also had the odd virgin myself and they were all incredibly capable, LOL!

Oh, when it comes to the physical, Cullen definitely strikes me as a man who knows how to go about getting what he wants. It's the notion of making it a partnership that makes him shy. That's the new territory.

It's basically all going to be how the player perceives him. I think that just because he says it's been a long time since he's wanted someone in his life doesn't mean that there was never anyone in his life. He certainly wasn't looking for anyone when he found the Inquisitor, right?

His writer just says that it's open to interpretation, I don't think we'll ever get a yes or no simply because it'll crap on people's head canons... not that they have any problem with crapping on our actual canons. Yeah, I'm still salty about having to make Alistair King just to ensure both he and Hawke survive.

Yeah I created a FemAeducan x Alistair "as Wardens" playthrough in the Keep and I'm upset I will have to change it ![]()
Regarding Cullen, I don't feel his past sexual experience really matters. It's clearly not part of his story. Sometimes it is, like for Alistair or Isabela. But sometimes it isn't (like for Merrill, for instance).

In case anyone wants to know. The approval numbers have been discovered.
The maximum is 125.
Slightly approves = 1
Approves = 5
Greatly approves = 20
It works the same for dissapproval.
Ah that's REALLY useful! Also, you get no more approval/disapproval once you've locked in a romance. I can confirm that with Bull.

I think you can still gain dissaproval? I was in a romance with Cass, but she still dissaproved when I made certain decisions.
