Adela, now that people are working on getting these cosmetic mods to work in-game, what are the chances that people will be able to actually make cutscenes and stuff like we could for DA:O?

I prefer to head canon that he's not a virgin, though he definitely seems more the relationship guy type and not really the one night stand type. He could have been different when he first got to Kirkwall, but you don't see him then. The whole sweeping papers off the desk bit and taking the Inquisitor right there does seem more like a man who's much more confident sexually. I agree about the "rollin' in b!tches" thing, but his actions don't really lead me to think that it was his first time.

 

I can't see him as a virgin either.  And I don't head canon him that way.  

 

Although he doesn't strike me as a player either.

Eh, don't ask. It's more fun IMO not to know. The writer probably has a good idea of that kind of thing in order to write a fully fleshed out character, but the fun of interpretation is in trying to figure out from the clues we have what is or isn't. I get so mad when authors spoil character details that aren't necessary to the story just to quell a fan base. I like the endless back and forth, gives you something to chew over.

I think you can still gain dissaproval? I was in a romance with Cass, but she still dissaproved when I made certain decisions.

 

Ohh maybe. I guess I haven't done anything so far to earn his disapproval. I "accidentally" made Celene empress and that nets him approval; it did not say I earned approval from him though so I assumed that would work for disapproval.

 

I hate the approval system they have in this game. Just get rid of it a la ME!

His writer just says that it's open to interpretation, I don't think we'll ever get a yes or no simply because it'll crap on people's head canons... not that they have any problem with crapping on our actual canons. Yeah, I'm still salty about having to make Alistair King just to ensure both he and Hawke survive. 

 

I would strongly advise against that. That is not something to ask over Twitter, especially of Brianne.

I'll see if I can get more out of Varric in my next play through, but I was playing party rogue this time so my options to haul him around were ... limited.

This. Frankly, I don't really want him to be a virgin. Partly because I feel like this romance has a maturity to it that Alistair's didn't. (Please don't throw things at me.) You're dealing with a commander of armies spread throughout Thedas, a guy who's seen some ****, and

basically a recovering drug addict that you help him through if you choose.

 

It doesn't feel like a "first love" kind of romance, even if you might actually be his first real love, you're not the first person he fell for, and I like that about him.

On the Varric and Mrs Rutherford, maybe the dialogue bug has something to do with it.  Maybe, just throwing it out there as a thought.

Is it a passing comment or something he says when you see him at Skyhold?

That's not what he said at all.
 
He says it's been a long time since he'd wanted anyone in his life (due to all the head mess). This is also reiterated if you make him take lyrium, during which he dumps you and reasons that he'd hoped to overcome his past trauma etc, but all the time he's like this it's best that he stays alone. While he may or may not have had a few women in the past, according to his writer it was purposely never clarified as to whether or not he was a virgin because they wanted to leave it down to interpretation. I think it's safe to assume that Cullen wasn't "rollin' in b!tches" given that he's spent the past 10+ years working his arse off in the Order and dealing with all Meredith's crap, hell it was difficult enough to convince him to stay and play Wicked Grace so he's not the most social creature, plus his reaction to all those people flirting with him at the Winter Palace ball clearly shows that he isn't used to it.
 
Either way, he's definitely not a "playah"... he'd be better at charming the Inquisitor into the sack if that was the case!

 
I totally agree. Your interpretation is my personal interpretation as well, especially given how most of the "lovely ladies" in DA2 refused to speak much to Cullen when he interrogated them about the whereabouts of some if the Templar recruits. He said specifically that they wouldn't speak to him "for fear they'd be shut down for serving the recruits" or something like that. It obviously means he's not a regular at the brothel and isn't known for partaking in its...delights.

what he said to Bull he was just trying to be polite and supportive since we know he has a lot of respect for Iron Bull as a warrior and because the Inquisitor is, well, his boss. Cullen's a great commander but I can see how he might even look up to Bull in some respects since they both come from different backgrounds and can learn things from each other. From dialogue in-game we know Cullen and Bull spar together and probably get along well, so Cullen likely picks up on Bull's sense of humor even if he personally wouldn't approach relationships the same way. Cullen's all about opening himself up to new ideas these days, precious cub.
 
Plus, Cassandra sounded like she disapproved at first during that scene - Cullen was probably trying to soften the blow.
 

I disagree. The way Cullen acts, it seems as if he is in fact a virgin. A man can be confident in his sexuality and be a virgin. Ran into those a few times in my life.

Considering how dedicated Cullen is to his work it sounds like being in a relationship would be nice for him but not something he is actively seeking.
His mannerism speak well of him being a virgin. The way he acted in DA2 about women and you in DAI. He makes mention in DA2, “I tried speaking to the uh, ladies there but none of them would speak to me for fear of shutting the place done for serving our recruits.” In DAI he says, “I’m not very good at this.”

Yes, he says, “It’s been a long time since I wanted anyone in my life.” This does not mean he was with someone before, it’s possible he was interested in being with someone, such as the (your) mage in the DAO game.

I maybe be wrong here, who knows. Darn it, we need an answer. Anyone willing to go to Twitter and ask please. LOL!

Well people say Kaidan makes comments in ME3 about sleeping with Shepard BEFORE the love scene (first love scene ever if Shep is male); I recently replayed the series for the third time (once again romancing Mr. K) and STILL did not get any of those ambient dialogues.

Hmm...I'm still going to go on thinking it's an urban legend at this point. If it's not, and it ends up that the dialogue was bugged (or cut for whatever reason who knows) then it'll be a nice surprise if/when it gets fixed.
