Yeah I totes agree about Alistair - he was definitely different, and he seemed like he'd be the type to be very open to experimentation. He even agrees to a threesome if you harden him! Woooo. Alistair approaches you about initiating a more physical relationship, easily tells you about how he feels about you, etc. Cullen doesn't do that until you're well into the relationship and he knows you're okay with being with him despite your responsibilities.

I feel like people trying to take advantage of Cullen's attractiveness really are preying on him, especially given Cole's comments about how afraid he is if you bring him along (even if they were provided for humorous effect). I think that's part of the reason the idea of Cullen being okay with a stranger coming on to him seems distasteful and out of character and why I don't think he had the chance to get it on before Inquisition. I don't feel like he'd be happy with the idea of being manipulated for sex. But again, that's just my personal take on it \o/

I do not speak for all introverts at all but personally, I'd prefer to feel respected and appreciated before letting anything escalate. I'd think Cullen would be even more averse to physical manipulation of any sort without consent and understanding between both parties. Especially considering what he's been through in his past.

Cole's comment kind of made my heart break, honestly. i kept thinking about his time at the circle tower, and... yeah. the way he talks, he probably suffered some sort of sexually charged temptation-torture thing, and desire demons are pretty aggressively sexualized, so this sort of situation doesn't feel like it sits well for him. even with the inquisitor, there's not much sexy-seducing-teasing going on; he just doesn't strike me as the type who enjoys this kind of game, the same way he doesn't strike me as the kind who'd be ok with strangers being too forward.

 

i... i headcanon him as demi, really, and sort of a virgin by circumstance. templar recruit life, as per alistair, wasn't a life for "rambunctious boys", then in kinloch hold he had his crush on amell/surana and i don't think he'd be the kind to have a casual relationship on the side, seeing how he flees for the mountains when you flirt with him; since i think there was some sort of, i'll say, sexual abuse going on in his demon fantasy torture, i bet it took him a while to disentangle arousal from shame, guilt, self-loathing, and trauma. then in kirkwall there was just too much to do, and he wasn't looking for anyone, then the inquisition recruited him and it meant more work...

 

so while he is confident in what he wants after he decides he wants it, there was simply too much happening before for him to deal with things properly. which is just my character interpretation, really. if not a complete virgin, i guess he'd have had very, very few encounters, and they probably weren't that nice.

I think that BDSM makes nice aspect to romance but it certainly isn't for everyone especially when player can't seem to decide the role (I think player is always submissive?) ^^;

Well in my opinion a "fetish" type romance should be a bonus romance... not only one of two options. It also shouldn't be something that shows up in the final scene after you've been in a relationship with this person.

Blech... That whole final scene was just weird! It was very... sexual. I miss having a true romance

in terms of sexual orientation. I absolutely agree that it's possible that he's a virgin just by circumstance. He's just not been the most lucky person at all in terms of relationships and hasn't found the right person, and his quiet and cautious demeanor suggests to me he would not be okay with flings, either. He doesn't even want to talk about his personal sex life with you when you ask him in Haven before you get to know him...he asks if you can talk about something else after muttering the Maker's name under his breath, LOL. I know he mentions that he hasn't taken vows against physical temptations but I don't get why he'd be so upset about talking about it unless he was afraid that being cavalier about sex would invite unwanted sexual advances or something. It's why I wouldn't joke with strangers unless they're friends I trust to not try to come on to me, personally.

 

And this is when he's already better in terms of mental health. While in Kirkwall he was serving out of fear and duty. He clearly didn't want to be close to anyone romantically at that point, was absorbed in his work, and the ladies at the Brothel were reluctant to even talk to him because they knew he was so duty minded. And yeah, although I'm not sure if the demon who possessed Uldred actually managed to taunt him with images of Amell/Surana since he sounded surprised when you appeared in front of him I'm pretty sure it must have taunted him with sexual imagery at some point. He probably saw a lot of his peers give in to it, at the very least. Alistair talked about how the Chantry punished him for even holding hands with a girl, and we know Cullen was much, much more serious about the Chantry's teachings in Origins. Probably doubly so after he saw the temptations that demons were willing to take advantage of to get what they wanted.

 

The way he respectfully avoided the use of the word "whores" in DAII and his chivalrous manner in dealing with you gives me the impression that he wouldn't just want to use a woman's body to get rid of sexual urges or allow his body to be used in such a way if emotion wasn't involved. Would he really have been okay with that while he was so angry in DAII, too? That sounds more dark and disturbing than anything given what he went through. So yeah, I personally feel that establishing a sense of trust would be important to him. He takes his time romancing you, is very concerned about what you think of him and of your relationship, waits until you reassure him that you support him in his personal life decisions... and seeing how earnest and honest he was during the lake scene really cemented my thoughts about him in that respect.

Still in my first playthrough 112+ hours so far, sadly I need to go back to work this week, holiday in Thedas is almost over....great week though!

Playing a warrior, I derailed my intentions, and did not become a Templar.

Cullen begs you not to become a Templar, not sure if this impacts the romance later, so did not spec into Templar due to his reaction.

 

Best missed opportunity for War Table comment by Cullen.

The Champion trainer suggests a banquet for other champions to attend. Apparently they want to get you to yield on the battlefield...and in the bedroom!

I felt that really needed a comment from Cullen if you were in a romance...so my muse has taken me to fanfic land with that one.

 

Going back to game.....the clock is on countdown and I see a gameplay, coffee and chocolate binge ahead!

Congratulations to Bioware on GoTY, I'm delighted for them and for us fans, it bodes well for future title investments from them I know many people are having issues but for me, they deserve it. Cullen video bombing was awesome, we need more shirtless Cullen that's for sure Cass is allowed to look and drool but friend or no, she lays a finger on him and my rogue will rage

 

I had so much going on in Thedas yesterday, wow it was a busy day indeed. Loads of personal companion quests triggered, completed Cullens nemesis quest too which I really enjoyed! Upset Viv with hers though that's what I get for being lazy lol. Sorted out Blackwall and Sera seems happy too. Cole is a wee sweetheart, I wasn't sure I was going to like him but however few RL maternal instincts I possess, they've made me want to look after and mother him lol Mr Bull seems alright after his quest although I found it quite a tricky decision. Solas calls me friend, seems he approves of me too lol, tis all good so far.

Completed the Ball, ended up with 99 court approval but I still managed to get the outcome I had wanted so I'm happy enough.

Smexy time with the Commander, oh the scandal it was superb and ofc he wuvves Quizz

 

I seem to get quite a bit of party banter when out and about, I need to hover at the war-room table to trigger the advisor banter though, it's not so much of an issue as it takes me forever to decide who to send where anyways.

I still haven't really mastered the crafting system, it's seems straight forward enough but I can never seem to make anything stronger than I'm wearing. I wanted to make the Ball outfit but it seems to default to magic stats which is no good unless I'm missing something obvious (which wouldn't be like me lol)

 

I'm lvl 18 and I've still at least two zones I haven't even stepped into yet so a day of exploring is in order I think.

Where to start! Ok I'll actually do a list for reals XD

1. I LOVED the pacing, it felt like a natural progression , not rushed at all. From the first smile the Inquisitor gives Cullen to that I-need-to-screenshot-this-moment-forever embrace at the end of the game. The build up made their love more believable and I was more invested because of it

 

2. The animations...good gawd that first kiss!!! It was like it was taken out of a movie and I loved it!

 

3. Greg's voice acting was just superb. Two lines stood out the most for me. The first being "I've never felt anything like this" I was practically a puddle in my chair, just how he says it /////. The second actually made me tear up , when he hugs the Inquisitor in the chantry and says "let me believe it". There was so much emotion there and since I didn't know how the game would end I was worried this could be the last time they were together

 

4. The Winter Palace. You have to understand I had begrudgingly accepted that I wasn't going to see them dance. He said no and quizzy had already danced so I sighed and thought that was that. The noise I made when he extended his hand you guys

 

5. The lucky coin, so cute! To know the Inquisitor still carried it around after and mentioned it was wonderful

 

6, When Sera wanted to mess with Cullen's desk and the Inquisitor says "It's pretty sturdy" oh how I laughed XD

 

7. Wicked Grace

 

8.The way it ended. AT LAST I pick a romance that had a bright end to it. No demon babies, no betrayal and no grim endings! They actually have a future. Which makes me hope that if they DO an expansion or story DLC they continue to add more romance content. I want wedding DLC gosh darn it!

 

I've only done one play-through but his romance will be a difficult one to beat at this point, it's just so good. I think the only edge some of the others have (from what I overheard) is that they were a bit more *cough* generous with what they showed

I think you are close with the 30 number.  I too by that time had 361 power.
