For the ball even a dress uniform that had a long skirt for the women instead of pants might be cool. That doesn't seem an uncommon thing really.
To be honest, I did want a ball dress at first but then I'd feel so bad for Josie and Leliana if the inquisitor got one and they were still stuck in the default uniform lol.

Thanks haha, I just hovered over his head in Haven and shot some video. Flycam is aMAZING.
I really wish we'd had the option to wear a dress, too. ;-; Though as much as I wish we could wear something big and flowing...would a larger dress end up causing clipping issues, out of curiosity? Cullen and the quizzy are programmed to be a certain distance away from each other during that scene so I assume a dress that's too big will end up assimilating Cullen's loins like the borg LOL
yes you are absolutely right about the clipping and the characters being a bit too close together... hmm i guess i wont make the dress too puffy so it wont go into Cullen ![]()

Even Anora's lovely Fereldan dress would already work for the ball (I say Anora's, but a ton of NPCs wear it around the Hinterlands central market/Redcliffe too). It falls flat around the woman's legs with no puff, so there'd be no clipping for trellis-climbing, ballroom dancing, etc.

Oki thanx for the suggestion cant wait to see the pic
also let me know if you need an invite to the grp
Found it!
It's actually just a recolor of "Anora's dress," but with a fur pauldron. It looks warmer to wear around Skyhold than the beige pajamas, what with all those super cold snowy mountains all around you, no?
(and yes, I'd need an invite to the group to post there, please!)

Thank you for the pics ninetozero
i guess i could manipulate that and make it look more "ball gowny"
i was googling some pics of ball gowns... but i think these might be a bit too "modern" for DA? im just referring to the style in general not necessarily the colors... what do u guys think?

Nah, Look at Queen Whatshername's dress. That's a pretty "modern" style.

To me, they look modern, but I've got a pretty clear idea on historical medieval fashion, oddly enough. To avoid clipping, how about Empire dresses from the Napoleonic era (obviously much later than medieval, let me think what might work, though.)

The first seems more "Orlesian" than the others, if only because of the wider skirt. For some reason I like the idea of maintaining the same color scheme for all the Inquisition attendees, if only to make you all stand out as members of the Inquisition. Although I'm afraid that a sash over a ball gown would make my quizzie look like a beauty pageant contestant. ![]()

Either drop the diagonal sash, or turn it into a scarf pinned at the shoulder and flowing free behind you. Keeps the general theme and color scheme but makes it less pageant-ish

I like the second and third ones the best for being more adult and subdued (and less prone to clipping), but they're all lovely. The only one that feels too modern/over the top for the period is the one with leg slit, though, the others could pass for historical-ish.

I like this - it reminds me a bit of Celene's gown. But nicer! ![]()

They can be done without the trains too. Here's a very simple one from a famous painting, though I think I made it too small:
I think it would be fairly simple to create something like that with a sash at the waist?

Very pretty! I can't think of any attractive late medieval/renaissance dress styles that are very straight lined like that, unfortunately. I think a cote-hardie and sideless surcoat is going much earlier than most clothing in the game.

A cote-hardie would look very nice, mind you. Possibly more suited to the Herald of Andraste! ![]()
