I wonder whether the people who accuse Cullen of being racist themselves stick completely to their philosophy of being able to love anyone romantically no matter what. Height, weight, hair color, face shape, etc. I mean yes, ideally in our world people can treasure all types of physical appearances equally. But from the way the devs said there would be a story-related reason for Solas and Cullen's preferences I always assumed it was also related to Cullen's infatuation with the female mage in Origins. He knows it was in his past, but he also says he hasn't met anyone as special as her since in DAII, and this vision of her has probably stayed with him. Canonically I think your mage warden was always fit for leadership - compelling, confident in what she stands for, compassionate despite the struggles she's faced as a mage - and from the way Cullen has always seemed to question what he himself stands for I think that these were qualities that he found incredibly beautiful. Not that he necessarily compares your quizzy to her (since I know some of you might be uncomfortable with that thought) - but I think a part of him has always wanted to recognize a certain beauty in magic, even if that part of him was lost for a while, and honestly your elven/human mage warden's presence in his life and the way she returned and saved him probably made a serious impression regarding his future preferences. It just so happens that female mages in Origins had to have been elven or human, I guess.
Of course, that canon doesn't work if you imported a non-female mage warden world state, but honestly, the very reason the fanbase has clamored so much for Cullen over the years was because they first noticed him being cute towards you during a female mage playthrough. It seems like it would be the canon in a way.

I can safely answer your question in regards to race: Yes. I do stick to that philosophy.

I have to disagree with this. A lot of us fell in love with him after playing DA2. I had never even played DAO at that point. I fell in love with his character and the progression of his story and how he grew as a person.

Very interesting. But don't the non-chosen "wardens" still exist? Least that's what I've always thought.

Not everyone is like that though, so I guess in that sense his romance is somewhat realistic.

But I don't think both male and female versions of all of them exist.

Tbh, when they mentioned story-reasons I thought they was referring to Solas without directly pointing him out
Cuz I was perfectly willing to accept Cullen just being attracted to humans and elves
Very interesting. But don't the non-chosen "wardens" still exist? Least that's what I've always thought.
Yea, all origins happen but whoever you play as "survives"
Whether the mage was male or female remains to be seen, I think it was female IMO

Considering you've come as close to making this old bat bounce up and down in her chair with the hair as anyone has in many years... (yes, I do like feminine hair, at least for some of my PCs.)
And while I don't give two figs about a dress for the ball for myself, I do feel it would make up for a disappointing oversight for a lot of people, which is why I've tried to contribute in my own weird way. Heck, if it isn't coerced, there are a couple of my planned Inquisitors I might put in the right dress.
Im out of likes.. but LIKE ( hoping to get a few more rogue likes here and there) but yea thank you for suggesting the dress styles it really helped out a lot
and thank you everyone who does so
I must apologize to R2 for making this thread into a mod one sometimes instead of just Cullen and general discussion about the game ... sorry R2..
but yea for those of you who are interested in the modding progression and don't want to clutter the Cullen thread with this pls follow this grp http://forum.bioware...8#entry18004029 if you need invitations please let me know

Adela, type circlet into google. I'd post pics and links but i'm on here via my phone.

Oh yeah, I totally can respect that, too. But we know also that the devs were surprised at the reaction Cullen received in Origins, so I think that also factored in to the manner in which he was designed and portrayed in DAII. He took a really noble stand at the end of DAII but the fact is he was just healing and returning to the reasonable and dutiful version of himself that existed at the beginning of Origins. I guess I should have just said that his experiences in Origins play a big part into the way he was designed afterwards.
Very interesting. But don't the non-chosen "wardens" still exist? Least that's what I've always thought.
Yeah that's what I thought, too. Some people seem to disagree with it but it's listed on the DA wikia along with in-game references to it so I figure it really is canon. Just wasn't comfortable confirming anything without concrete evidence.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but personally I believe it's just a matter of resources and time, considering that he's a last moment romance option...Pretty much like Solas, these two were not initially intended to be romanceable hence the restrictions, because truth be told a dwarf/qunari romance would require additional animations.Yes....I suppose you could say it's realistically...racist.
DISCLAIMER: THAT'S JUST MY OPINION THOUGH.

So I thought if you brought your LI during What Pride Has Wrought there would be a special scene...? I didn't even get a cut scene... or a flirt option... when talking to Bull afterward lol
Also, Dorian is definitely glitched
I got another greatly approves from him, and still no quest.
I think it depends on the LI? Not sure.
And about Dorian's quest, I did try mentioning the possible bug to some devs on twitter, but so far no luck. I don't think they're even aware it exists.
