Side note: How many of you play this on the PC? I'm seriously considering getting the game for it but I don't know if I should/if my desktop (or even my laptop) can even handle it.

*also raises hand* I bought my PC just for DAI, and everything usually runs smoothly on medium (it crashes when raised to high, although I do have mesh and textures on ultra), but lately I've been having these fan/shut off problems.

The game is a beast and bugged to hell. Only get it for PC if you hope to utilize the mods folks are working on currently.

Does anyone know what the reaction to Cullen by his pre-release "haters" has been. There wasc quite a lot of negativity, but I am curious if he has any converts now that the game is out...

Lol. I have to go clean off my screen now. :P

I played on the PC. While the graphics can be better (because PC) I think the controls are better on the consoles. Or play it with a controller than keyboard&mouse.

Does your desktop/laptop meet the recommended setting? I wouldn't play the game on minimum on PC. Unless you don't care about shiny hair.

You don't have to worry about downloading MSI Afterburner, it's totally legit, provided you download it direct from their website. I don't put any bad programs on my computer. If things get too hot the computer will shut itself down as a safety measure, and my guess is that's your problem based on the symptoms you describe.

As I said, DA:I will put a computer through it's paces. Having heat monitoring software is a must. MSI Afterburner will monitor your GPU. HWiNFO is great to see everything else. I use both of these programs to watch heat and fan values.

Thanks for your input and suggestions :D If I keep experiencing this problem I'll call Dell but also look into MSI Afterburner. But honestly, the computer was not hot. I pulled my TV out and felt back there and it was fine.

I am thinking it could be an issue with the fan but I don't know. Clearly I am not an expert :P

It's been surprisingly quiet. Maybe they're still playing?

There have been several DA confessions about folks changing their minds about him. But I think we should refrain from discussing other fans, as we would prefer folks don't discuss us.

Do you mean in-game? As a character?

If you ask him at some points in the game, he talks about his opinion on mage-templar war, mages, and whole issues that people lashed out on.

Awww.... So I was the only one to have my mind in the gutter? Lame. Someone come up here and keep me company. I'm lonely.  :(      I have cupcakes :D

Thanks for the feedback Monica, Artemis, and rpg! I'll check out the site Monica posted and see if it meets the requirements. I've been trying to keep up with the buggy issues that PC users have been experiencing and I seriously hope things get all patched up for you. Honestly? I'd probably play it with a controller, it would probably feel too...odd for me not to. I'm looking into gaming options because a) mods, B) ability to save screenshots, and c) I'm tired of having to deal with ddos attacks on the 360.

Well actually the same friendless freakazoids turds who recently attacked xbox live also attacked Origin, so you can't escape sh!t like that, sadly.

But the 360?! No, no, no... definitely go PC if you don't have next gen console :P Cause it looks pretty rubbish on old gen :P

What kind of computer is it? I was thinking you had a desktop with a tower. In this case, it wouldn't feel hot just by feeling the box. If you have one of those box-type computers that are all enclosed, then I can't really help you. However I would imagine those would have even more issues with heat than a standard desktop tower (similar to a laptop).

Please don't download anything from cnet! Ever! That stuff is riddled with 3rd party add-ons and browser hijacks. Here is a link directly to MSI's website:

Yeah, they just went after the PSN within the past hour or so. I guess they have a "surprise" for all of us on Christmas.

lol. Yeah, the 360. Some of the graphics are crisp and then it just... No words. None whatsoever. I'm looking into an Xbox One but I'm just going to wait to see what happens with all of this nonsense. I need to save up some money in either case so I have some time to shop around. :)

*Raises hand*

I personally won't buy console games anymore when I can just game on my PC. However, in order to run the game you will need a pretty decent setup. If you buy a brand new rig off the shelf at a box store you should be able to run it, but maybe on medium settings. To max everything out you have to start getting into the realm of custom builds. If you take a look at Bioware's website they list the minimum and recommended specs, and I don't think those recommended specs could even run the game on high:

http://www.dragonage...ements-revealed

I play the game with a controller and haven't had any of the bugs that other folks have mentioned. However, my PC is relatively new and is able to run everything on max with extra enhancements from the NVIDIA control panel.

Comp-wise. I'm running the recommended graphics card. My quad core is an older one that runs slightly slower than the recommended specs. I have only 5GB of Ram. I can run the game on mostly all high settings and it looks pretty good. I do get some lagging the longer I let it run without shutting it down. If I log out and restart every four hours or so, it generally does pretty good. I have the DX crash to desktop, but I don't think it's directly related to my specs because I've seen both better and worse rigs reported as having the same problem.

As for Cullen, men are very visually oriented creatures. They like what they like in terms of physical appearance, and if something isn't flipping their switches, it isn't going to. That does not mean they don't like or even love whatever it is that isn't doing it for them in the physical attraction department. People these days have a bad habit of trying to conflate love with sex when the two are not the same thing at all. One can be a part of loving relationship, yes, but love itself is quite independent of sex if it wasn't ... think of all the people in your life you genuinely love that you'd be trying to sleep with - parents, grandparents, children, best friends, etc. The world would be a right mess!

Those of you that have the no Dorian quest bug: I suggest taking it to DA's twitter. They're looking for info to repro the problem.

Yep, what Dracofish said. My game's paused in the middle of battle right now, and my GPU is sitting at 65°C, but the back of my tower is only a little warm. Just touching your case won't tell you too much, sadly.

Okay, thanks. It is just surprising that after only 5 minutes of play it would do that. And then when I try to restart it will do the fan/shut off thing as it's trying to reboot.

you have to wait for the CPU to cool down. No use rebooting while the PC is still boiling hot

Yeah by the looks of it that PC case seems to be pretty compact and tight. I would imagine things could get very hot in there. Having it in an enclosed space or behind a tv can compound the issue - computers need air and lots of it. When I custom-built my rig I deliberately picked the biggest case I could find. It's ugly as sin, but things stay hella cool.

It happened when I turned it on for the first time today though. (I mean it happened while booting up.)
