Artemis - if your PC is overheating like that turn down the options, it's not handling the stress of running the game.  Also maybe open up the case if you can and make sure you've got everything well ventilated.   :(

edit - Some cases come with panels that can be removed to aid with cooling, have a quick look.

Honestly I think there is a problem with the fan??? Because, although yes, it first happened (and still sometimes happen) while I'm running the game, today it happened when I first booted up the computer. So there's no way on god's green earth it could've been hot in there.

I know; it's too bad I'm so ignorant; I have no idea how to even open the damn thing up and look around. Oh well.

It happened when I turned it on for the first time today though. (I mean it happened while booting up.)

If it's happening outside of gaming, then there is definitely something up that warrants a call to Dell (*cringes*). It could be a problem with a broken fan or CPU cooler. If you can see the temps before it shuts down that would paint a better picture for you. For example, a normal and healthy CPU should sit around 30 - 40 degrees at idle. While gaming, it shouldn't really go much over 60 degrees unless you are stress testing. The same can be said for a GPU, however those temps can run a little higher depending on the set up and branding (AMD vs NVIDIA - AMD tends to run a little hotter). While gaming, a GPU hitting 70 - 75 is normal and ok.

If you google overheating and the name of your computer, you see a lot of people reporting it. Dell even has a support article about it.

I think we talked previously about checking to see if your college had a deal for doing computer warranty work. But I think it's time to make a phone call.

I assume those temps are C and not F?

I'm not the biggest fan of Dell. Everybody I've ever known that has bought Dell has had so many problems...

Does anyone know what the reaction to Cullen by his pre-release "haters" has been. There wasc quite a lot of negativity, but I am curious if he has any converts now that the game is out...

I think a number of people were won over by him.  But every character will have his or her haters.

*cringes too* LOL Ikr?! But fortunately I think Alienware has a bit better service than "regular" Dell; they even sent me all kinds of stuff in the mail, so I'm not dreading it too much.

Ahh okay I'll check it out. It looks like it requires some bit of expertise, opening it open, checking the fan, applying some kind of gel to a "heat sink" (whatever that is). They are probably gonna tell me to ship it back, NO WAY! I might just take it to a local shop, sigh. Or try to get a friend to help me.

A fan could be the problem.  Did it get suddenly loud recently or even very quiet because maybe it isn't working.

Oh the fan gets super loud. It's like it's going berserk lol

FYI After I rebooted it about four times today it did finally boot up, and I played the game without incident for about 3 hours *shrugs* So who the heck knows.

Last time I played it (meaning, before today), it shut down like this. I was annoyed and did not try restarting it. So maybe the reason it was having trouble today is just leftover from last time *shrugs* Can computers have muscle memory?

I had a query and thought the Cullnites could answer it.  Someone said something about Cullen being like Alistair but more mature because he isn't a 20-year-old virgin.  So I was wondering, do you guys headcanon he is a virgin or isn't?  And if he isn't, when do you imagine he would've gotten that in (pun not intended)?  I need to know for scientific purposes.

Uh, some people think he is and some do not. It really depends on how you think it. Back in DA2, he was aware of his fellow recruits and templar colleagues 'visiting' the brothel. So, as far as "does he know where babies come from?", oh I think he knows.

The topic of him having done it, I don't know. It wasn't explicitly said. For me, his virginity status doesn't matter and didn't really thought about the subject. DA2 was a crazy time for him. Maybe he had a phase where he went a bit wild from his conservative norm. Who knows?

Ok, I think Cullen's sexual history has had about as many words devoted to it as he had lines in the game but I believe his writer said it was up to the players imagination.

In my mind he totally isn't because I refuse to believe in a world in which Cullen couldn't get laid if he felt like it and if he didn't feel like it sometime in the last 30 odd years then I doubt my Quizzy is going to have the sort of relationship with him that I would prefer her to enjoy.

Yeah, that's pretty much the entirety of the thought I've put into the subject and all of it's 100% self serving   :D

I personally have no clue on what is true and it doesn't really matter...at least imo. Although I do want to offer some of my perspective on the matter. If we go all the way back to DA:O we all remember how shy and well...terrified*easily flustered* of/by flirting or teasing. So based on his personality then I see/saw him still having his virginity. Then onto DA2....who knows there. He was extremely busy which was confirmed by him in DA:I and he still was sometimes a flustered fool, but maybe at some point his lost his virginity there. DA2 is the only place that would make sense....well other than DA:I of course.

Does it sound odd that I'm not particularly concerned, and my PCs are only interested if he cares to mention it? I think it's far more important that he obviously cares a great deal about the experience for both people, and when you have that, you can figure out the rest, given time and a sense of humor.

I agree with this 100%. Plus I have plenty of "likes" to share so I shall toss some around, lol!

I think in my own game that Cullen isn't completely inexperienced, but any experience he has had was confined to maybe an early teenage infatuation during his training before his posting to Ferelden Circle. After his experiences there, I don't think he was in any shape to really pursue any kind of relationship, and he seems like the kind of person to want more than just quick one-nighters at a brothel. So while he has an idea of what he wants when he gets to it, he's pretty tentative when it comes to the ideas of courtship and the like - he just hasn't been there, done that, and after what he's gone through putting himself back together ... it's a step not to be taken lightly.

So can some of you guys tell me what bugs you have experienced in DA:I? The worst ones are preferred.

Mine would have be that earsplitting screech that happens randomly...I have no idea what causes it. Then at the end of DA:I I went to talk to Varric and he would not respond...as in he would just turn his head and then...nothing. The most annoying bug for me though is when the game fully freezes and forces one to shut down their system. That happened to me at least six times and every time it would do it whenever it was autosaving so it glitched up my files and set me back two hours.

I've thought about that too, but I'm not quite sure. On the one hand he did say that it's been a long time since he wanted anyone in his life, and he doesn't seem like someone who likes to have sex with no strings attached, although that could really just be wishful thinking on my part. On the other side though... He might seem a little shy or clumsy, but not entirely inexperienced, so I really don't know. It doesn't really matter either way, but I do think it would be kind of cute. I clearly have a type (re: Alistair).

Yeah, this was my line of thinking. It was just curiosity more than anything. It doesn't really matter in the long run. But I was thinking, he's sooo awkward and afraid in Origins, and he even says he was in no state of mind to get that close to anyone in 2. But he doesn't seem all that inexperienced
Spoiler
So I was just curious. Sorry if anyone thought I was judging him one way or the other. :/
