I have only had the one game with Alistair as the Warden...okay I'm only working on my second game now..lol. But I haven't seen this scene either...maybe I will try to change some of the order in the next game and see if I can get it to work.

I'm very lucky with my game so far, very few bugs worth a mention. The only one that I get on and off is a loss of sound while out exploring, every now and again, all sound except my footsteps and dialogue/banters disappear but as soon as I start fighting again it all comes back as if never away, it's odd but minor in the grand scheme of things. I see the odd floating object, a barrell or gull just perched in mid air, amusing but again, not major. I have one quest that I can't interact with to lift it even after reloads etc, annoying but meh, it doesn't stress me out I may have a bug after the Ball, I got the resolution I wanted from it but any conversations I've heard afterwards refer to a single ruler hmmm.

 

I don't think Cullen is a virgin tbh, perhaps not terribly experienced though. He strikes me as the type of man that would struggle to differentiate between the physical and emotional connection, I see him as an all or nothing chap. I have nothing except my own thoughts to back it up though lol. I like that it isn't made an issue and is left open, he has no idea of my Quizz history either, I like to think that those kind of conversations would come later in the relationship, if atall.

 

Hubbys power pack still hasn't arrived *sigh*, ordered last Tuesday on a Next Day service our luck again.......turns out there was a fire at the courier company distribution warehouse, nobody hurt thankfully but it's put the delivery schedule back some. It seriously needs to come soon, things are getting tense here lol none of his games are on my pc, so we can't even share (not that I would want to anyway!) and I have this strange feeling...can't quite put my finger on it, could it be guilt? I almost feel bad for playing my game when he can't play his.....I did say "almost"

 

I'm working towards another big quest, I don't think it's the last one though, I'm just clearing some space in my quest log first just in case. I don't want to get locked out of any content because I charge on ahead.

MMG, FWIW, I have one of these and my machine runs the game like a dream on high res settings. I think yours is just a lemon and I'd talk to the support people ASAP. The fan can be hella loud, but it shouldn't be having such significant problems.

I just finished my first PT. Now planning my second, but realiased on one hand I want to go pro-templar, on the other hand I want Cullen's personal quest, and I can't decide which one I want more...*internal screaming

Probably because people do Here Lies the Abyss first due to convenience. I mean it only takes 8 power whereas for Wicked Hearts, it has a requirement of 30 power. Far more than Here Lies the Abyss. Also not to mention, some people would have a soft spot for the Grey Wardens like I did. 

I reckon people do it to make sure you're romance is set before the end of the ball... that's what I did! 

 

But this is good to know. I'll have to try it out!

I can imagine a lot of scenarios for Cullen between long-term committed/"infatuated" relationship and "using" someone for sex. I just don't see it being so binary. It's interesting how many strong opinions there on this topic, so I'm glad they left it up to individual interpretation.
 
For fun, I once wrote a rather different sort of scenario for him. LOL

Go with what feels right for your personal playthrough. If you want to play Templar-side, go for it. It's a very well written quest, you get Ser Barris, a proper introduction to Cole... and if going after the Templars is what you feel your character would do, don't let metagaming for quests interfere in your roleplaying. You can always watch Cullen's nemesis quest on YouTube later, without compromising your character's choices.

Alas,I actually go with pro-Templar on my first playthrough. I watched ending on both side and think pro-templar is better for inquisition. I have this issue called "have to get perfect ending or die trying". Which is why my over 20 DAO PT are kinda...identical.*facepalm I've always wanted to try a very jerk pc, but always ends up like "NO,THAT'S TOO MEAN, I HAVE TO RELOAD!"

 

Also the fact that perfect ending doesn't exsit in DA series does not help...

 

I think I just want as much Cullen as possible...

Not even just that, but there's a whole sense of urgency to the Abyss quest that you don't get for the grand ball. The quests are framed as

Josephine telling you "there's gonna be a ball and we need to go but we don't have enough influence to get an invitation yet," and Hawke telling you "Wardens are disappearing and Corypheus is involved and my friend is in danger and I need your help right now."

It doesn't even make sense to go balroom dancing when there's something so serious going on that demands your immediate attention like that.

I did Wicked Hearts & Wicked Eyes before Here Lies the Abyss and I didn't get the scene between Alistair and Morrigan...

edit: Oh wait. Alistair was king in my 1st pt.

Personally, whatever Cullen says about his romantic past and previous entanglements in-game, I live and die by the headcanon that he and Hawke had a brief relationship in Kirwall before she married Sebastian, so the matter is settled in my personal canon. It has been about 8 years since the time I frame their relationship around, so it doesn't even contradict him when he says he hasn't been with anyone in a long time, and didn't leave anyone behind in Kirkwall.

It helps that my Warden was not a mage, so there was no wistful sighing in DA2 and no reference to having no infatuations since Ferelden in my game. Leaves him with a lot of leeway to have a life of romantic experiences of his own before Quizzie, which is fair because my Quizzie has a history before him too.

It really is great that Brianne's official stance is to leave it up to each player's preference, though. That way no one's headcanon is "right" or "wrong," and everyone gets Cullen just the way they want him.

If it's in the game still then presumably it would happen if you done the ball quest first. Oddly, the only thing I've ever heard anyone say when both Morrigan and Alistair are in the Skyhold at the same time is when Alistair says: "Tell Morrigan... tell her I stood around Skyhold looking like a fool." Or something like that. Might be worth making a thread in the main forum to see if anyone got that encounter.

i'll stick my oar in too... i like to think he had this first awkward, teenager's sexual experience before he fully joined the order. maybe taking lyrium later made him uninterested in those matters a bit... or maybe he's demisexual... there's a lot of options everyone can headcanon to one's liking (:

I wonder why they cut it? Could've easily left that encounter in for us to stumble upon when checking in on Morrigan. I wonder what else the modders will find whilst file diving, I bet there's some interesting stuff to uncover!

Oh, I love the way he says "to work!" He sounds so cute, like he's excited you gave him the assignment and he gets to display his super duper strategist and leadership skills. I always hope he's gonna give this line when I assign him something, and always pout when he gives the other, drier ones instead.
