It's not unusual, this is more of a sanctuary since the rest of the forum is pretty toxic at the best of times. Cullen talks happen frequently too, just jump back a few pages and you'll see for yourself.

I romanced Cullen as a Warrior/Templar. Some pretty interesting dialogue I kind of prefer this to being a mage.

go to Redcliffe to speak to Fiona before heading to Therinfall?  I know you lose the chance to recruit the Tranquil dude, but are you completely locked out of Redcliffe for good?  In any case, my mage, after finding out Fiona sold the mages into slavery, would probably dash off to find the Templars to stop that nonsense anyway.

You can meet Fiona at Val Royeaux and at Redcliffe, still recruit the Tranquil since he's at the Gull and Lantern, still fight in the Chantry with Dorian, and then go to Therinfall. It's meeting Dorian at Redcliffe Castle that locks you out of recruiting the Templars.

Just did his conversation about the Templar specialization on my Blackwall-romancing warrior Inquisitor, too. It is pretty interesting, how he half-warns you and half-begs you not to do it, then says he can't blame you for thinking like he did if you go with the idealistic dialogue choice about Templars helping people. He was pretty disappointed in my Quizz after the took the specialization anyway, despite his warnings, but I liked that you could handle it with respect in the end.

 

It does make for a very interesting dynamic in a relationship, him trying to get away from lyrium as his love gets involved with it. Nice unique angsty twist for warrior Inquisitors there.

go directly to Therinfall and do the templar quest before even going to Redcliffe.  Is the Gull and Lantern even still open afterwards?  Is the chantry empty?

The tavern is still open, because I went there for a companion personal quest.

Ah, in that case I'm pretty sure you can't. I don't know about the tavern, but the mages are out of your hands after choosing Templars.

Weirdly enough, my first playthrough is also my canon playthrough when it comes to aspects like romance or classes. Always a warrior, and romancing Alistair, Fenris and Cullen.

Romanced version is more exasperated than angry - he actually gets angrier about it if you're not romancing him. And he's pretty mad afterwards in either case, if you go and take the spec anyway despite his warnings. Can't find a video for it now, but it's something along the lines of, "really, after everything I've told you?" etc.
