OH ****. Is there a way on Origin to NOT install the patch??  I haven't been home yet...

I didn't notice any graphical changes short of the hair. It looks more like hair from DA:2 now. Oh and of course, scars are missing.

I just quickly loaded a save in the Hinterlands and haven't really noticed a performance drop. I've always been one for uber eye candy over super high fps so I was only getting between 30 - 50 fps there before. It seems about the same now, even in combat. 

 

Wish I could say the same. I loaded up my save in Western Approach right after installing the patch, and there's so much hitching and freezing going on, especially when I get near the grass/plants. I was getting 60fps there before the patch, but now it's pretty much unplayable.

 

EDIT: Changed settings from high/ultra to low. Went from basically unplayable to extremely annoying. Might need to reinstall...

Im not entirely sure what you mean by not giving the Templars lyrium. There's a conversation option where you can suggest it (to teach them a lesson) but it doesn't end up actually happening afaik. I did disband them though so not sure what happens if you ally them. Ser Barris can die if you stay away from the main hall too long where he's fighting.

Now I have some questions too about the mage side:

A few pages back people kept talking about how Cullen's questline involving Samson was making him angsty. But when I did it there wasn't really much. Or do you only get that if you romance him?

For me it made the romance feel different. It is a personal preference really. I liked Cullen without the extra angst from that quest. I just think he has enough to deal with and I didn't like that added on top of it all. Especially since I had gotten him to a place where he was laughing in every conversation and to me it felt like I was taking steps backwards.

Actually, the patch sound bad but I'm on Origin and I'm pretty certain it will auto update the second I open up the program. Is there anyway to not install on Origin? I love my fade touched textures!

Cole is my little darling boy! I love him more than Cullen. That's just me being too motherly and caring about a child more than a husband-figure. I will CUT anyone who even thinks about hurting my baby....  

 

I am so beyond amazed at how Cole turned out in this game.  I loved him in Asunder, but I had no idea how much more that would grow in Inquisition. He's adorable, cute, glomp-worthy and has all the best lines! I spoil him rotten with all the best overpowered daggers and armored gear. Plus, he's the only character I can count on to talk with the banter bug (although, my workarounds are working for all party members). Only thing that annoys me is that I go out of my way to dress him in all the best clothes I can find and craft for him and he always ends up wearing his patch-work rags when we get back home. Sounds like something my nephew would do, lol.

 

So far, I haven't seen any evidence of Cullen's views on Cole. I only wonder if it can be discovered in the game at some point beyond where I'm stuck at (The Winter Palace nightmare is where I'm at right now). Don't want to know what he thinks, just whether or not he has an opinion on Cole or has a relationship with him at all.

try origin in offline mode. that should stop it from patching your game

^ Patch fixed some of the bad PC controls, but broke hair meshes. Getting shiny lego hair on Ultra settings now. :\ Wouldn't be surprised if it broke scars and complexions too.

 

Yeah, I'm getting shiny hair on High setting, but it doesn't look like the plastic helmet. Not sure what they did to it, but apparently I'm one of the few who prefers it to the previous straw-like look. I haven't been anywhere but Haven and getting ready to do In Your Heart Shall Burn, so I'll have to see if I have any hitching issues.

I think I was the only one who said that, and for the record,

I didn't say mage-side made Cullen angsty. I said I felt Cullen came across as a lighter person on the Templar side due to the absence of the nemesis quest making it seem like he'd already dealt with those ghosts and put them behind him, and as a heavier person on the mage side because his fixation on resolving past issues with Samson, Red Lyrium etc permeated the greatest part of the interactions with him through the second act, setting a different tone for his development post-Kirkwall. From one side, it seemed like he'd already resolved his issues and was looking forward to what else life has to give. From the other, he was halfway through, still working through his issues right there and still a long ways from the more serene, at peace with himself man he comes across as from Templar-side.

 

All with the caveat that it was my perception of how the character came across to me, after having played both sides, and that neither characterization was better or worse than the other, just different. I did not like how Cullen came across throughout the Samson quest, but that's the least of my issues with that quest, with what it did to a character I like, and with the sudden wild tonal shifts it causes in Cullen in regards to the Templars at large. I'll be the first to admit that my overall distaste for the Before The Dawn questline as a whole may have colored my views of Cullen through the mage side. Eh, it probably did, I disliked it enough that it's one of the biggest reasons why I don't really wanna play through mage side again - so I don't have to go through what that quest does to Samson and Cullen again.

 

In any case, the whole different perception of Cullen from either side was only my personal impression. Feel free to take it with a mountain of salt, and disregard if you didn't feel the same way.

my inquisitors freckles are gone. Lol they decided I was not worthy of them. If someone needs me I'll be crying in a corner thinking of the great adventures I had with my freckles before they decided to leave me.

I have the PS3 version and am already used to all the low-res crap. We got a really low-res version of the game. I hope my patch won't make it any worse, though....

 

I have found a way to make the graphics better, though!! I found that only having TWO manual saves, and no more will drastically open up RAM space on your computer/console/whatever. It works for me. I only ever keep ONE manual save just to be sure there's enough memory for the graphics to use. Maybe it'll help everyone else, too, after this stupid patch.

There's a very tiny hint of something in a banter between Cullen and his aide, when she delivers him a message from Cole. Very blink and you'll miss it, but I loved it.

 

I can't get over how much Cole likes Cullen and is super protective of him. Every time he speaks of Cullen so fondly and gentle I get all warm and fuzzy and teary and wanna pull both of them in a big bear hug.

This patch really broke my game. Before I was having something like a crash every 2 hours. Now it's crash 5 times in 15 minutes!! And that shiny hair... And can't even get that cutscenes anymore!

Edit: Because there is some dialogue with Cullen in Haven about Cole.

I'm also reinstalling from my disks, so we'll see what happens. I could live with the shiny hair and other graphical weirdness long enough for a fix, but that performance was just beyond awful. I haven't seen many complaints about it either, so lucky me.

I somehow picture that most advisors/companions see Cullen as really positive person. And somehow Cassandra's subtly supporting him mentally with that problem he face on his personal quest. She's keeping an eye (or two) on him on their agreement right?

I wonder what Leliana think of him actually, she was with my Amell Warden back in the Broken Circle quest in DA:O. Well, that was when Cullen was at his lowest no?
