Now that I know where Cullen is from, I just wanted to know if anyone else is spazzing about it like me? I keep wanting to abandon Inquisition for a bit just to go run over there in Origins and go, "is this your house, Cullen?! Is this your favorite lake of reflection?"
Spoilers for the rest of my post about Cullen's hometown:
Spoiler
"Did you know Shale?"
"Shale, do you remember Cullen?!?" ... Although, I'm still unclear as to how many years Shale was frozen for in Honnleath. Wasn't it like 30 years, or something? Surely he knew about her, or what he would have thought of her as "it?" That scene when you rescue him from Uldred's torture with Shale should have been hilarious. He would have thought he seriously had lost it with no hope of ever being sane again. "It's the golem from home? What? Maker, now I know I'm too far gone...."
Shale is my favorite character from Origins. .... Speak, if it must.....
Yep, I made the same association too. Though since I didn't have Shale at the Circle, I thought it more along the lines of, Cullen hearing from the other Templars as they returned from the battle at Denerim that the HoF had a freaking army of golems at her side, and thinking to himself that she might've used that one back home too, had she known about it. Then ten years later he goes back to Honnleath with Quizzie and finds the old golem is gone, and that's when he finally connects the dots... oh, the Wardens did know about Shale!
I'm picturing Cullen scratching his head, wondering how the hell they managed to get Shale to move, and how that went from one golem forgotten in some backwater village to a whole army of golems (there's so much people don't know about the HoF's journey!), and Quizzie just raising an eyebrow at him and going, "you're awful mistified by this empty patch of grass, love..."
I do have a very troubling question though: now that Cullen has joined Alistair in the ranks of attainably gorgeous Templars, who is going to be my next unrequited templar crush? I don't know who to hope for in the next game!
I... May be looking ahead a bit pre-emptively at this stage in time.

so far we have: not yet Templar, and no longer Templar.

I could never bring myself to preserve the Anvil, so Shale's the only Golem running about being awesome in my world-state. And I never brough her to the tower, because while I suppose that "Lissie" was built to carry a bunch of Templars in plate armour across Lake Calenhad, it strained my credulity that that rowboat could carry several tons of Golem without sinking?
(In my headcanon, Shale tried to get in the boat, realised that it was hopeless and was reluctantly forced to walk along the bottom of the lake to get to the tower, so by the time she got to the other side, she was muddy and covered in sea-weed. Naturally, no-one was foolish enough to include this part when they retold the story of the Fifth Blight.)
It does make me wonder how the people of Honnleath reacted to learning that the Golem was gone? I could picture Mia being disappointed, as I bet she was one of those villagers who put bird seed on Shale because she thought it looked quaint?

I'm looking ahead too.
Two hottie former Templars (kind of, anyway) and two delectable charming mages? WHO WILL BE NEXT, BIOWARE?
Ser barris? it's not like possibly being dead has stopped BW before.
I sided with the mages (3rd game in a row, I may be a bit predictable) so didn't get to know him at all.
So, er... Possibly?
If the next game does go up north I wonder if we'll get ourselves a Tevinter templar companion... that would be interesting.
It's kind of a bad sign I want to ask if anyone's heard any hints from the Devs about DLC, ME4, or the new IP.
I want to ask so many questions, but everything is spoiler-y until more people have finished the game. Um, um...
Lyrium! Seeing Cullen is no longer a Templar, how do you think he'd react to a warrior LI who chose to take the Templar spec and subject herself to Lyrium?
So I'm about 15 hours into my second playthrough and I'm still torn over who's going to win my Lavellan's affections?
I want to go Cullen, but I hear good things about the Solas-mance and he was probably my favourite companion in my last playthrough, plus he's the only one gated for elf's only? Hmm... should I just roll a female Trevelyan for Cullen, a female Qunari for Sera and a female Dwarf for Blackwall?
Decisions, decisions...?
(Only the plus side, I just realised last night that I'd unintentionally made my elf look like Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite, only as a redhead... I wondered why I found her so adorable)
Solas going my main elf mage my secondary Guinvure is going too romance Cullen. Fraya Trayveln is going romance Iron Bull so she can kill a dragon and feel bad ass. Yeah Fraya named after the Norse God married to Loki is very Isabella like in her sexual prefence. I also have Qunari mage that is going for Blackwall or possibly Iron Bull because muscles drools.

Well the thing is that the next game is in the north. Which means likely either Rivain, Anderfels, the Qun, or Tevinter. of the for Tevinter seems the most likely. Which means that we could have a tevinter templar companion, but tevinter templars are a bit different from southern templars. Notably in that they can't cancle magic, and that they can't really stop the magisters from using blood magic.
Which actually makes me curious as to how they will handle the templar spec in DA4 if it is in Tevinter.

Everything you hear about them is true, though. Especially the bit about the grapes and feathers.
And Tevinter. The possibility (and likelihood) of coming across Dorian without my rogue boy makes me sad. ;_;
Oh my God. You precious baby, Cullen. That would make me nope out of the Templar spec so hard.
Same here, my 3rd or 4th PT will be a girl warrior Alanna the Lioness (ever read Song of the Lioness by Tamora Pierce? Alanna will have short red hair with violet eyes). I considered making her templar but after seeing that video... nuh uh, can't do this to Cullen. So Champion she'll be (just like in the book...)
Err... I just realized that basically all my current & future Inquisitors are going to share her life with Cullen... Am I the only one who finish by not romancing anyone else but Cullen??? I'm on my second PTs & it's Cullen all the way (mage!Trevelyan this time, siding with mages).

I'm dividing this issue between Cullen and Dorian. So far all my girls promise to go to Cullen, while Dorian is snagging all my boys.
