I'm afraid this only makes me think of more Twilight parallels.

It seems a few people are disappointed that Bioware ditched Cullen's lion helm. I wonder if I'm the only one who is happy they got rid of it? I just can't see covering the beautiful work of art that is Cullen's face. ![]()
Some do, Merrill's clan took Pol the city elf from DA:O. Some are just jerks like Mihris'.
I'm pretty sure that Mihris has the same VA as Sister Petrice. I never even read TME and the minute she opened her mouth I wanted to backhand her. I hate when that happens, since I really hate metagaming. ![]()
Since Cullen grew up near Honnleath, I wonder if he remembers Shale? I really miss Shale : p
Also, though I suspect this has nothing to do with Cullen especially after having played through his romance, I'm definitely curious about what David Gaider was referring to way back when. Remember the discussion about some scene or comment coming out sounding "kind of rapey" according to the female writers' interpretation? Did that ever get elaborated on? I'm still wondering what or who that was about ...

Switch Origin to "Offline," and you'll be able to play unpatched.
And yet someone representing Kirkwall must've been there, since all KCs were there. And in pro templar DA2PT, he is KC. Unless he split Kirkwall before that meeting, which was before Cass interrogated Varric.Word budget, word budget. I am willing to pay for any DLC to expand his story.
About the Nevarran Accord, I can only picture that Cullen's head might be on a pike if ever he was there. He might not agree to bow to Lord Seeker Lambert's will... That's a dangerous game.
It's just for most of my past BioWare romances, the romance was intertwined with the love interest's personal story, and we grew together.
Fenris: Hawke wants to help his/her love get through this painful part of his life. Hawke helps Fenris heal as a friend, but as a lover, s/he is even more there for him.
Isabela: Hawke's trust in Isabela is shaken when she leaves, but when she returns, it shows how she's grown as a person. Hawke helps her deal with her troubles, and again, s/he can do this as a friend, but the quests are interlocked and interwoven with her romance.
Kaidan: Please
Especially with a male Shepard; this romance and UST stretches out over years; Kaidan has trust issues with Shepard and multiple times calls him/her out; Kaidan grows as a person, becomes a Spectre in his own right, and can be welcome back on board the Normandy and into female Shepard's arms, or a tentative romance can finally be begun with male Shepard.
Zevran: A Crow to the bone, and the child of a prostitute, he is used to not taking sex seriously, especially after his first ill-fated love. As you help him defeat his old nemesis (and possible former lover), he comes to realize that he has fallen in love with you, and that that part of his life was false. He is capable of love and it's okay for him to give in to it and to trust you.
And now for my DAI experience...
Bull: You have sex a lot. Oh, and there's a safe word in case he hurts you.

Actually, Cullen's romance reminds me of Kaidan's for some reason. Probably because of the awkward flirting but also maturity of developing relationship. When I think about it there is a lot of Garrus in him as well. He has his struggles and inner demons but he also is there for you when you need him. The most touching for me are the scenes where he simply embraces your character, everything feels authentic, what he says, how he says it and his body language is superb. I love DA2 romances but on many levels they feel disjointed with the time jumps. Characters definitely get more of a background story due to the three quests you can do with them in your party. In Cullen's case, the content is there, we followed his story through all da games, pity that a lot of it is a meta knowledge. All in all, he is my favourite DA romance by far. I feel like I have connected with the character on so many levels I never expected it. I don't need any extra content to enjoy his romance, it does not mean that I don't want more
I hope that explains my bipolarness (sorry, I am brain dead) in my posts.
I wonder about non-mage lady Trevelyan too, since it's possible that her family won't want her to end up with someone who doesn't possess any titles or riches. Well, no confirmation on that so headcannon. Or they can just elope & live quietly somewhere.
Can only speak for this one, since this is my canon romance with Cullen.
You have several conversations with different characters about your family that let you establish what kind of relationship you have with your blood and your name - you can be from the proud noble who scoffs that your blood is older than that of most Orlesian fops, to the darling child who loves mommy and daddy, to the black sheep of the family who hasn't spoken to them in years, as you wish. But the only conversation you can have with Cullen about being nobility, where he reveals a mild hesitation at having no title to match your station, ends up with you going I don't care/my family might care but they can shove it/no seriously I don't care. So whatever your relationship with the Trevelyans, it's established that the Inquisitor doesn't give a toss about marrying up, and will stay with Cullen, be he the lost Prince of Antiva or just the butcher's boy. ![]()
As for where they end up afterwards... I'm pretty settled on them staying at Skyhold, for my personal canon. The Frostback Mountains technically belong to Ferelden, but I'm sure Alistair and Anora would be much obliged to generously donate the patch of land around Skyhold to Lady Trevelyan, for services rendered with all that saving the world business. They have an army, a network of merchants, informants, agents, servants... the whole nine yards to keep a house's stronghold running. And money is not an issue, because after picking the pockets of every random bandit's corpse across Ferelden and Orlais, my Quizzie has more gold than she knows what to do with. ![]()
The thought of moving to some dinky cabin in South Reach with Cullen is quaint, but I honestly can't see him living a quiet fisherman's life. He's been a soldier his whole life, he needs that hustle and bustle of military life around him. Plus, I'm never forsaking that stunning view from the balcony of their quarters for any shack in the woods.
The only thing Quizzie and Cullen are still arguing about in my head is how much he detests and will never accept being called Lord Cullen. Quizzie tries to get him to lighten up, it's just a title, and hey, you knew you were marrying into nobility, but it's no use. He'll never get used to it. His only earned title is "Commander," and that's the only one he'll have, damnit. ![]()
Spoiler
Maybe. I haven't played that romance yet, but it certainly could be. I was just wondering if anything had been revealed one way or the other about it.
Also, though I suspect this has nothing to do with Cullen especially after having played through his romance, I'm definitely curious about what David Gaider was referring to way back when. That was a long time ago and possibly referred to a potential DA2 plot. But the entire plot was scrapped/rewritten, so you'll never know what it was.
And yet someone representing Kirkwall must've been there, since all KCs were there. And in pro templar DA2PT, he is KC. Unless he split Kirkwall before that meeting, which was before Cass interrogated Varric.
Questionsquestions
When was the Nevarran accord breaking once again? It's before Cassandra's interrogating?
It's also possible that Cassandra's approach him before interrogating Varric no? Like Cass knew that she would have to bring back Inquisition no matter what & start recruitment before finally finding Varric.
Anyway it's also possible that the thing that made Cullen to leave the Templar Order is basically the breaking of Nevarran Accord. He might be there, might feel unsafe to say openly (but this is just not so his character), keep quiet (or get his head on a pike), then just go on with Cass' offer.

I remember Greg Ellis said something about recording raunchy lines of Cullen during DA:I recording. Either that was cut, or Greg & I don't have same definition of the word "raunchy" since nothing in Cullen's romance is raunchy.
Cullen: An ex-templar, with his faith to the Order a bit shaken. As said by Blackwall, he had seen the best and worst of humanity and is still struggling with this. Still, he wants to protect people despite having problems on his own. As you help him cope with himself and his past and his lyrium problem, he can finally allow himself some happiness. He's there to support you too, get anxious of your well being and your feeling. He's strong, but stronger when you hold him dearly.
Nothing can beat Cullen's IMO
That's beautifully said ![]()
You know, it just occurred to me that if it weren't for Cassandra asking Cullen to assume responsibilities on behalf of the future Inquisition when she did, it is likely he could have died at he Conclave as well. He was one of the sensible Templars at the forefront of the Kirkwall conflict, which would mean he might have been invited as an essential participant in the peace talks. He helped restore peace to Kirkwall and didn't leave the Templars till he learned of Cassandra's alternative, after all. That's a scary thought. :c
I love freecam sometimes.

sexy, yet casual, like he's not trying too hard!

Solas, pls.
I'm surprised the character that supposedly has a battle cry of 'it's more complicated than that!' turned out to be so racist against Dalish elves and qunari. I mean humans it's kind of expected, but that's a bit surprising too now that I think about it, because again 'it's more complicated than that!' views he's supposed to have. I wonder if he acts that way towards dwarves as well.
I rather like Solas as a character, but some of the dwarven Inquisitors have had arguments where he is a bit arrogant about their culture and/or history (and since they don't dream, he can't claim to actually know what happened). I haven't seen it myself so I don't know details.

Ekhm, there was definitely a lot going on behind the scenes during that chess match ![]()
I actually wonder how much of his, and the other companions/advisors story arcs was cut (if any)? Everything gets resolved too quickly with all of them, and it seems that we have to rely on codex entries and Cole to get any real insight into how/what a character is feeling behind the bravado.I just think that they focused on juicy, romantic bits and hand waved over the interesting stuff. They just assumed that's what we would be most interested in. Don't get me wrong, I love the romance content but I always appreciate learning more about the characters, seeing them develop and so on, so I would gladly trade a romantic scene or two for something with more meat. But hey, on some level I am still psyched that he'd made it into the game at all and he's is not a raging junkie so I am probably more forgiving than I should. I agree though, the more I think about things that were quite integral to his character the more I see the extent of the trade off. But if I got what I wanted the game would have to be called Dragon Age: The Cullen chronicles

I did that last night, and forgot today. [bangs head off desk.] I've just let it patch. At least I have the disks in case it's totally fecked up!

As impressive as the scenes we got with them are, it still didn't feel as intimate/personal talking to them as it did in DA:O/DA2, perhaps that's in part due to the third person ambient convo wheel? I also think the sheer size of the game didn't help because really the character based content and interactions could've done with being doubled, if not tripled.
Yes, and yes!!! My thoughts on the matter PERFECTLY summed up.
