I don't think there's anything in the game that can really tell us this. Except that, under certain circumstances, he might be Knight Commander and therefore had to be there. Unless he had quit the Order first. You know, I never got the sense that Cullen was actually there at Lambert's final meaning.
The whole story goes someplace really dark - blowing up kids in the streets..mass murder...war and revolution...stark descriptions of festering wounds. I dunno, I don't have kids but I can't imagine reading something like that when I was that age. Or maybe adults get something completely different out of it than kids do?
You know, for all that it's considered "middle-grade", it exposed me to a lot of very adult topics as a kid (for the record, I'm 20). I'd consider it, especially the later books, to be more young-adult than anything really, because the books talk about societal prejudice, mass murder, torture, mind control, cults, and a whole lot of other heavy stuff.

It's not middle grade; it's YA >.<
Again, not saying he was not amazing lol I'm saying the romance was all sex/lovemaking. The romance was not linked to personal quests or character growth, the way they are in previous BW games.
I disagree. The creation of the dragon tooth necklace was important, in my opinion. I liked Bull better than Zevran and Fenris. Plus, it was nice to find a romance that finally met my own ideals of attractiveness.

Wait, what?
Well Harry Potter is considered middle grade ^^

Okay, how is the creation of the dragon tooth necklace related to Bull's growth as a character? How do we as his love interest help him evolve?
Wait, what?
But we weren't talking about HP we were talking about HG.

Oh ok, my bad. I misread it.

No problem, but you know, I've seen people argue that later HP is verging towards YA, and they say the series grew with its readership. Personally I feel the writing style never really changed, and that's what kept it MG, and the fact that a nine year old (MG is 9-12) can still read the seventh book and understand and enjoy it seals the deal for me ![]()
Sorry this is so not Cullen-related! >.>
(...) I would expect Cullen, if he were there, to come out if it further disheartened. I also wish he'd told us if this were the case. And not just a general "oh I don't believe in the Templars anymore."

You know, you have a very good point. I grew with it, as you described. In hindsight, while the themes might have intensified with the later novels, the writing style itself was always very accessible.

Yes different scholars will disagree, but personally I feel style and accessibility (not content!) are what make a book MG versus YA ![]()
I kind of got the impression that by the time of Lambert's vote most of the templar leadership was the lord seeker's circlejerk, so cullen might have been disheartened and considering quitting the order before the vote even if he was made commander of kirkwall with a pro-templar hawke. calling the vote in itself might have been the last straw, in this case.
lol

Cass can looky no touchy! ![]()
In my head he's heading toward quizzy's quarters...
Well, just wish that we can get more details on that matter about why he really leave the templar, I'll be dying to know. Oh well...
About Harry Potter discussion, The first book is quite for younger audience, but then starting second book up to the last it's just really... dark. But somehow I just find it really great since it treats all subject that really matters: importance of friends & family, of trying to do what is right not what is easy, about "who you are" is more important than "what you are born as", racial equality etc. The portrayal of each character is just amazing since not a single one is a perfect character. To each their flaws & it's even easy to feel compassion for the "bad guys".
Despite graded for YA/middle grade/whatever, it's a series I recommend to all age actually...

I think I just made myself feel really old, lol. I'm trying to think back to what was popular back in the 90's for "young adults" to read and I'm drawing a blank. Like I said, I don't have kids so my views on what is appropriate for children doesn't even matter. My viewpoint would likely be completely different if I did have kids.
4 pages to sweet madness
At this rate we might make it before I get out of work!
